I wish you Enough!



Recently I overheard a Father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'

The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.'


They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'

'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'.

'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral, 'he said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what that means?'

He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone.' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough, 'we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them' Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how grey the day may appear.


I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

He then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.

Our University is closed today as well as most of the state organizations: we observe the holiday - Independence Day - which, in fact, is happening tomorrow. In addition, it was raining all night and all morning. And still I did come to the lab at 8 am, since I have to carry out an experiment. The scary thing is that I not just have to, I want to do it.

I pour the liquid nitrogen to cool down the detector, pump the vacuum and cool down a sample, turn on the laser, focus the laser beam on the sample's surface, maximize the PL signal, and take the spectrum... In a dark room... Only scattered green laser light... The light is my tool to probe the nature.

Life is a very complex puzzle pieces of which we are continuously trying to put together, but they don’t always fit to each other. This is a very interesting task to solve the life puzzle. There are millions of big and small pieces scattered everywhere. At the beginning, you get some significant help from your parents. As you move on, different people make contribution to your puzzle, but it is your responsibility to finally decide whether to stick this particular piece to the whole picture or throw it away. Especially difficult is to find pieces related to your soul mate, your another half.

Sometimes we pick up puzzle pieces and want to believe that those are the right ones. We are trying so hard, forcing them into the picture disregarding the obvious mismatch, and as a result we destroy corners of good pieces that are already in the picture. After some time we do give up those wrong parts, because with them it turns out to be impossible to further build the life puzzle.

Some parts of the puzzle you never find and therefore leave blank holes in the picture. On the other hand, there are some parts that seem to be totally incompatible by color with the rest of the structure, but fit perfectly by the shape.

I hope that you will find all the missing pieces to your life puzzle, especially those related to your soul mate, your another half, your love. I really hope…

One week passes like one day. Monday is an early morning and weekend is a late night. Whatever your plans are for the week, they almost never get completed. You struggle to make your life more perfect, to adjust all things in more perfect order. But it usually doesn't happen in the way you want it to happen. You don't know how to fight the future. And do you really need to? Why fight inevitable? Whatever you do, it comes, it changes everything around you, it changes you and all other people. You just go with it.

Lately I come home after work totally exhausted. It seems that my head is made of stone :). I'm preparing the presentation for my supervisor. It is going to be a report for the whole year, everything what I have accomplished. It turns out I did do a lot, I mean A LOT. That's a good thing. It's better to have an excess of the results than the lack. Hopefully I'll be able to finish my degree program in 3 years, by May 2009. Meanwhile, the classes are going, lectures, seminars, homeworks etc. It is really hard to be more than one year without any vacation except for several small events. But I will be fully rewarded in winter when I'm going home.

Speakers are singing with the voice of Vakarchuk: thanks to Tarasius, now I have a brand new album of "Okean Elzy". Fresh ukrainian music is
like a medicine for my heart :)
