Taitung's Top 10 Must-Try Local Foods 2024

Среда, 12 Июня 2024 г. 22:06 (ссылка)

Since most of the places to visit in Taitung I mention in this post are in Taitung City itself, I'm going to recommend you stay there as well. On a personal level, I actually prefer the beaches and beautiful scenery of Taitung County to the more popular Kenting National Park further south in Pingtung, though you may or may not end up feeling this way. We arrived before the reservation time of 6pm and found out there no one around and the reservation wasn’t a success. Big portion of boiled rice I have for breakfast, 150 ntd for seafood boiled rice and 110 for fish stomach boiled rice. A nice place to hang out and have some casual drinks. Cheap drinks and welcoming staff, although they are locals and not the expats that once ran the joint.
With a substantial investment of 187 million euros, the company has fortified its position, focusing on facilities, stores, logistics, and technology. Ending the year with no net debt, Mango has showcased its robust financial standing. By leveraging digital technologies to enhance transparency and sustainability, luxury companies can cater to the evolving demands of Indian consumers while driving positive social and environmental impact. The fusion of technology and sleep innovation has introduced an exciting era of sleep tech.

But was extremely disappointed to find a huge piece of plastic in my cabbage. And we were comped that dish and a bottle of juice only. It's a bus tour group stop, so it's a very busy spot. Would probably give it a higher review if it weren't for the finding random object in food part, because honestly that grilled fish was very delicious. It's quite greasy, and I felt so full after just one portion. It took about 10 minutes to queue during the holiday.
Crunchy but not hot to eat is a very outstanding feature because you do not need to wait it colder to eat. Other stinky tofu would become soft and not crunchy when it is not that hot. As this point, I would say the stinky tofu here is the great one and you should try it. Taitung County is divided into 1 city, 2 urban townships, 8 rural townships and 5 mountain indigenous townships. Taitung County has the second highest number of mountain indigenous townships in Taiwan after Pingtung County.
One must-see destination is Sanxiantai, a unique geological formation that resembles a dragon’s head. You can park your bike and take a leisurely stroll along the bridge that connects the mainland to the island, enjoying the ocean breeze and the views of the rocky coastline. Meanwhile, in the Amis village of Pisirian, you can experience their traditional dances and music, as well as taste their delicious cuisine. Visiting these villages not only allows you to immerse yourself in the local culture, but it also supports the Aboriginal communities and helps preserve their traditions. As you cycle through the forests of Taitung, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the stunning East Rift Valley. Take a break and visit the nearby aboriginal villages to learn about their unique cultures and traditions.

The area boasts diverse flora and fauna, from mountain ranges to coral reefs and sandy beaches. This adrenaline-pumping activity is perfect for those looking to get their hearts racing and enjoy breathtaking views of Taitung. Afterward, head back to the coast to catch the sunset at the Chishang Tropic of Cancer Marker. The marker is a popular spot to take photos and enjoy the stunning colors of the sunset over the vast ocean. Next, make your way to the Jhiben Hot Springs, where you can relax and soak in the warm mineral waters. The hot springs are located in a picturesque valley surrounded by lush greenery and towering mountains.
Manufacturers react to client demands by developing and promoting eco-friendly appliances. Moreover, brands are implementing eco-friendly practices at all stages of their manufacturing processes. For about 20 years now, Manish Aggarwal has been a prominent face in the Indian FMCG industry. During these years, he has proved himself to be an outstanding business leader, innovator and an out-of-the-box thinker always ready to ‘take on’ new problems.
In reality when I came to the "indigenous people house" (a public part of the park. There are even info signs for tourists to read) they let their dogs out and they run towards me aggressively. I felt like I'm in some 3rd world country, and not in Taiwan. I'll just cross out this part of Taiwan and never will be back again. One can authentically experience the atmosphere and traditions of the Beinan tribe. It's very easy to get to for people who stay in Taitung city. When one needs a home-grown shopping experience, come to Carrefour.

However, you can also buy lotions infused with roses, cosmetics with rose oil, and other similar items. Rose oil is naturally anti-aging and smells fantastic! The number one Bulgarian souvenir is undoubtedly rose oil or other natural cosmetics that use rose oil. Bulgaria is the largest producer of rose oil in the world, and Bulgarian rose oil is widely considered to be some of the highest quality stuff around. I still mourn the loss of the mighty little Canals fish shop in Melbourne , and Cyril’s Deli in Sydney’s Haymarket .
This charming establishment offers ample indoor seating as well as some outdoor options, making it a pleasant place to relax and enjoy a warm beverage. The cafe welcomes pets, adding an extra touch of warmth and friendliness to the atmosphere. On sunny days, it is especially delightful to unwind in this tranquil spot. While the coffee was decent but not exceptional, I found their milk tea particularly delicious. The cafe, 太麻里文創咖啡館, offers an award-winning coffee and a variety of specialty drinks. The Mandarin language barrier may hinder full understanding, but the cappuccino with honey and flower garnish is a popular choice.

We had a lovely evening with wine, beer, organic salad and pizza - and a fun chat with the charismatic owner and his family. Uncle Pete's Pizza is a vibrant and cozy spot that offers thin-crust pizza with vegetarian choices, along with a selection of craft beer. The owner, an American who settled in Taitung after coming to surf, has created a renowned pizza destination.
In his role as a director at Bikano and as a veritable problem solver, Manish Aggarwal has effected a transformational shift in the way the company’s business operations are conducted and managed. For increasing domestic sales share, companies must focus on building robust distribution networks and strategic partnerships to establish themselves as key players. "We are on a mission to transform the way people communicate, collaborate, and learn," says Jha.

The broth is described as light, but some feel that the beef could be more tender, possibly due to insufficient cooking time. The 16 km2 wide island was formed long ago by a massive volcanic eruption. Today, coral reefs surround the island that is packed in summer with visitors eager to dive or snorkel in its clear waters. Other than sea sports, the top attraction of the island is the Zhaori hot spring 朝日溫泉, one of the three known saltwater hot springs together with the other two in Japan’s Kyushu Island and Italy near Mt Vesuvius.
While frequent buses travel between Taitung Station and downtown, having to ride one of them every time you want to eat short rice noodles or explore a colorful temple would be a major pain. Some of my favorite Taitung attractions are located in the heart of the city. Moreover, Taitung occupies a small enough area that you can easily explore in the morning or evening, before and after you head out for daytime excursions. Not only is Taitung a wonderful destination in itself, it's also a great gateway to Taiwan's east coast, whether you visit in the middle of a road trip, or use it as the jumping-off point for one. I’m not a department store fan, I actually hate shopping if it’s not at an outdoor traditional market, or if I don’treallyneed to buy anything.

Moreover, the center regularly updates its displays to ensure visitors encounter fresh and captivating pieces. The small yellow and white bus I took got me from the bus station to the train station in 20 minutes and it left on time from one of the numbered platforms. The TTB buses take 35 minutes to the train station and they leave from a different platform . I couldn’t see the platform number posted but I could see small white TTB buses parked along the curb near a sign I couldn’t read.

Taiwan is an island country with no shortage of fresh seafood. But be sure to eat Taitung’s local delicacies, such as Kuroshio Current sailfish and flying fish. This restaurant offers a variety of noodle, meat, and soup options that are sure to satisfy your cravings. One standout is the homemade chili sauce, which adds a fragrant and spicy kick to any dish. Customers also recommend trying the flying fish roe and braised dish platter. As for the food, I didn’t like it, especially the sausage. Ordered the dry rice noodles, nothing special and taste was ordinary, just enough to fill you up.

If you like surfing, do check out Dulan Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in Taitung County. If you don’t mind the cold, you can surf year-round in this little piece of paradise. In winter waves are strong, and smaller during summer, making it a perfect spot for beginners.

Requiring children to wear socks is Chinese culture not Austronesian or indigenous culture whose children traditionally go everywhere bare foot or in slippers. Let alone that of the ancestors for which socks were unknown. How about just for once, forcing the majority culture to experience life through the eyes or in this case the feet of the minority? Also why have a fancy coffee chain take up the cafe space on the top floor which insists on ridiculous rules about minimum order size yet still has slow service? Give the space and opportunity to indigenous people to showcase their own food and culture here of all places.
Lanyu is an off-the-beaten-path hidden gem, one of Taiwan’s remotest islands, and is full of surprises. The island is just beautiful, there are so many things to see, on the island as well as off-shore. The marine life here is abundant and diving really is a treat. It’s also great in terms of culture, most people living there are from the Yami tribe, and traditions are still strongly implemented.
Don’t forget to check out the lake and the wooden bridge, which are perfect spots for taking photos. On this day, you can head to Luye Highlands to ride hot air balloons, and also check out the things that Taitung City has to offer. This will include parks and museums located within the city. Taitung City is in the Southeast coast of Taiwan, and it is the site of a lot of historical excavations. There are plenty of beautiful natural landscapes to visit. It makes for a good weekend getaway from Taiwan’s bustling city life.

This dynamic mix is powered by a growing economy, urbanization, and an increasingly affluent middle class. Pick up locally produced teas, spices, and snacks as delicious reminders of your journey.

It felt rushed but it was certainly doable, and this wasn’t a problem for us since our main goal was to spend several days in Kenting. If you actually want to see more of the stops along the way, I wouldn’t recommend this. I would break it up into at least two days in each direction. Highway #11 splits off from the #9 just south of Hualien City then follows the coast, with the two meeting up again in Taitung City.
Taitung Seashore Park and the attached Taitung Forest Park are extremely popular with both locals and tourist alike. There are bicycles for rent at several places along the beach and at the entrance of the Forest Park. One of the most iconic sights on Green Island is the unique volcanic landscape. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Tzuhuangyu Geothermal Area, where you can witness bubbling hot springs and colorful mineral deposits. If you're up for a challenge, hike up the island's highest peak, Guanyin Mountain, for breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding ocean and nearby islands. One of the top attractions on Green Island is the beautiful Nanliao Harbor, which greets visitors with its picturesque scenery and fishing boats.
You have to wait before going up or down the ramp for the attendant to give the all clear because it is one direction at a time. Many of the art installations are not here anymore but this is still an amazing place to get views of the ocean. You get to be near the ocean and enjoy the sea breezes without going far. I wish there were signs showing directions for people who are out of town.

One example is facial masks infused with ingredients like green tea extract, pearl powder, or volcanic mud, which are believed to help rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. Visitors to Taitung can indeed find traditional Taiwanese musical instruments and accessories as souvenirs in the region. Taitung is known for its vibrant indigenous culture, and this is reflected in the variety of traditional instruments available for purchase. One popular item is the “Erhu,” a two-stringed bowed instrument commonly used in Taiwanese and Chinese music. Visitors can also find other traditional instruments like the “Guqin,” a seven-stringed zither, or the “Dizi,” a flute made from bamboo. In addition to instruments, visitors can also find accessories such as traditional drumsticks, handmade percussion instruments, or ornate instrument cases.
The unique natural environment and the moderate climate are the greatest asset of Taitung. The land nurtures rich diversity of life while the Pacific Ocean brings an abundance of fish to the east coast thanks to the warm Kuroshio. The best Taiwanese rice is grown along the plains between the mountains.

Generally, it’s always a good idea to book in advance to ensure your spot, especially during peak seasons or for popular activities. The best time of year to visit Taitung for outdoor adventures is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During this time, the weather is mild and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to mid-70s Fahrenheit.
Take a moment to unwind and let your worries drift away as you lay on the soft sand and listen to the soothing sounds of the waves at Dulan Beach. This hidden gem is a secluded spot that locals love to frequent. Start by visiting the Dulan Sugar Factory, which has been transformed into a cultural and creative arts center. When you’re in the Taitung area, make sure to explore the charming coastal town of Dulan. When it comes to the must-have fruit for the Mid-Autumn Festival, one cannot not mention the Wendan pomelo.
You’ll need a valid local license or IDP to rent from them. Also, note that youneed a license specifically for a motorcycle to rent a scooter in Taiwan. Taitung is quite spread out, and unlike other cities in Taiwan, themain area is actually not located near the train station. Since the train station is a little outside town, it’s not the most convenient place to stay. If you have time, nearby Pisirian is another cool place to visit. Pisirian is a tiny tribal village home to the Pisirian tribe.

It’s much better to spend two days making this trip, spending the night somewhere in southern Hualien County or Taitung along the way. Below, I’ll cover all the best places on both highways to spend the night. In this article, Part 2, you’ll need another 1-4 days to travel from Hualien City to Taitung or Kenting at the far southern tip of Taiwan. In theory, you can ride a scooter from Hualien City all the way to Kenting in 1 day, and I’ve done this before. It’s a long day on the road, and you won’t have much time for stops.
In Taitung, there are several unique cultural items and antiques that make for interesting souvenirs for visitors looking to bring a piece of local culture back home. One popular souvenir item is the handwoven fabrics made by the indigenous tribes in the region, such as the Amis and Bunun. These fabrics often feature intricate tribal patterns and vibrant colors, making them not only beautiful but also a meaningful representation of the local indigenous cultures. In Taitung, Taiwan, visitors can find a variety of unique handmade crafts and artworks that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the area. One popular craft in Taitung is the traditional process of creating indigo-dyed textiles, known as “daban” cloth.

For the new comer to Taitung, you can also rent motorcycle in Taitung train station at very affordable price of 400 for 24 hours. It’s known for Peinan Cultural Park, the site of a number of buried Neolithic slate coffins first excavated in the 1980s. Examples of relics recovered from the site, including pottery and jade stones, are displayed at the National Museum of Prehistory.
