Morocco Sahara Desert Camps: How to Choose

Пятница, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 23:38 (ссылка)

The camels lanky legs do an awful lot of wobbling as they make their way up and over and down the sand dunes. My butt was killing me after about 10 minutes into the 90 minute journey. Getting from the main road to our specific campsite was about a two mile journey over towering sand dunes, which meant about 90 minutes via camel transit.
Their team of local staff took such good care of us, was always asking if we were comfortable and if we needed anything, and the food was amazing. Literally every meal we were served enough food for five people and struggled to make a dent. Because we didn’t go through one of the larger Marrakech tours we were the only two people on our camel trek into the desert. Now, we had only heard luxury desert camps morocco about Sahara tours leaving from Marrakech, so at first we thought we would have to go all the way to Marrakech from Fes and then down to Merzouga, which would have been insane. But then it turned out there actually is a bus from Fes straight to Merzouga, phew! So instead of booking a full desert tour we headed to Merzouga on our own and then sorted an independent desert trek from there.

Makeup Wipes & Dry Shampoo– Although this is a luxury camp, you are still in the middle of the desert, so there is no running water. We were picked bright and early from Fairmont Marrakech by our driver Hassan. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous, patient and also catered the tour towards how we wanted it (based on where I wanted to make pitstops for all the photos!). Anush and I felt comfortable and safe that we were in good hands throughout our journey with a very competent driver guide.
And when they asked if we wanted to spend an extra 25 Euro to upgrade to “luxury camping”, we were like, “duh.” The experience did not disappoint. Camping at Indiana Beach is as close to real camping as I’ve ever been. Not exactly roughing it.I’m pretty sure the closest I’ve gotten to actual camping was when we hiked the Inca Trail for four days. That which was true camp living, but our amazing porters carried and pitched our tents, cooked us three-course meals, and even carried around a toilet for us. Like I said, we took a Supratours bus overnight from Fes, and then a shuttle bus from Merzouga to Ouarzazate.

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of cinema’s most famous film franchise, we are proud to have been selected as the official travel partner to curate James Bond inspired trips. We’ve chosen these experiences, destinations and adventures to bring you closer to the great outdoors, all the while guaranteeing social distance by design. Curated by our Travel Experts down to the smallest detail. Our travel experts have experienced the thrills and challenges of solo travel. Collating all of this knowledge and designing adventures for the intrepid solo traveller has produced some of our most immersive and exciting itineraries.
The two main dune areas here that are popular to camp at are – Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga. We opted to do a 3 day, 2 night tour with Desert Luxury Camp. If truly getting away from it is important, then stress this and insist on a camp deep in the Merzouga desert. The trek itself to the desert camp will take about one hour from Merzouga. For the ride, stick your water bottle close by and keep your camera handy for photos of the chain of the camels’ shadows on the the sand.
What we enjoyed and adventured is the camel ride in sand to see the sunset and well as the experience of ATV Quad biking in the morning. Thank you very much fo the friendly staff in Zahra Camp who take care to us. Deep in the dunes of Erg Chebbi lies Berber desert camps of kinds; from bare-bones and basic, to the ultra-luxurious. Before my trip to Morocco, I spent hours researching luxury desert glamping in search of the best camp.

This hotel is located very close to the sand dunes and organizes camel and 4×4 tours in the desert. Merzouga is a village that offers a wide range of guesthouses, beautiful Kasbah hotels that are decorated with Berber artifacts, and luxurious desert camps. Depending on your needs you will find a place to stay that will match your budget. Merzouga is a town right on the edge of Erg Chebbi, and most Sahara desert luxury camp experiences starts from this town.
If you want to have a tension free trip to morocco, then hiring a well communicated tour guide is a favorable alternative for you. You have to choose such a tour guide that has better communication and also suitable knowledge about the tribal people like Nomadic in Tuareg . Therefore you have a golden opportunity of grabbing the skill of local culture by spending your enormous time with the locality people.

After a long but pleasant journey, we arrived at the entry of the dunes where we hopped on, to an adventure we will never forget! We won't explain the details so that you can discover this amazing experience by yourself. The Luxury Double Tent is a great choice for couples in love. Choose this luxurious tent and spend special nights on your honeymoon.
Riding the camels isn’t necessarily difficult in the sense that running up a hill is, but it’s uncomfortable, and we were all VERY sore by the end of our trek. The tour is also simply tiring, the pace is very quick and no one got fantastic sleep. As far as time, I can certainly see someone wanting a second night in the desert, though we were very sore and exhausted by the end of our time and happy to head back to town. We did include a couple of the extra stops such as Ait Benhaddou, but not enough to justify taking up more of our time in Morocco for it. We did go through our hotel to book our tour, but I don’t recommend it–we overpaid because of doing that.
Camping, and in Morocco in the Sahara desert, is really a dream of mine. It is only 5 minutes’ drive from Merzouga Lake and features a library, a sun patio, and a sun deck. The Sahara Desert captures the imagination of many people, and once there, you’ll understand why.

Best Things To Do In Morocco A Complete Guide

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 01:02 (ссылка)

Stop to admire the kasbah, the Grande Mosquée and the medina ramparts; before indulging in local cuisine or shopping for handmade crafts in the town souks. If you want to know what are the top things to do in Agadir Morocco, this guide is for you. You’ll learn what are the best activities to do in Agadir as well as the best restaurants in Agadir and you’ll also discover some of the best day trips from Agadir, Morocco’s surf city.
The region around Chefchaouen is one of the main producers of cannabis in Morocco. Hashish is subsequently sold all over town, but is mostly the domain of native Chaouenis. Essaouria is a popular resort town located just a few hours from Marrakech. Marked by its white and blue medina and colorful seaside port, Essaouira is a relaxing escape from the hustle of the larger cities in Morocco. The strong winds of the Atlantic Ocean also make Essaouira a popular destination for kitesurfing.

This area of the city is rarely explored by tourists other than Jewish heritage groups – get down before everyone else cottons on. If you're a foodie, you'll find some fantastic Moroccan restaurants to sample in the city . But you might simply be heading to Marrakech to explore its museums, admire its architecture, and spend your days wandering through its many, many fantastic souks. Read on for the very best things to do, see and eat in Marrakech this year. For souks and markets the best places to stay are located within the ancient walls of Fès el-Bali.
The complex is not open to the public as the current king still uses the palace as his residence. The streets of the Ville Nouvelle host a wealth of French colonial architecture and are a pleasant place for a stroll. The Kasbah district sits just off the medina's northeast corner, so it's easy to combine visits to both in one morning Bucket List Morocco or afternoon. If you're looking for bargains and local craftwork, the two best shopping streets are Souq es Sebbat and Rue Souka. Chellah thrived as a Merenid citadel in the early 14th century. The crumbled ruins of mosques and mausoleums they built here are now covered with rambling brambles, providing nesting sites for storks.

The local guides have built relationships with many different stores, and they are most likely getting a cut of the sales. Don’t be fooled when they say they are trying to help you haggle to get the best price, because they usually aren’t. Know what you’re willing to pay before you start the haggling process and walk out if you can’t get the price you want. More likely than not, they will still get the better deal, but keep in mind if you are willing to spend the time, you can get items for at least 25-50% of the starting price.
The earthy clay brick buildings of Aït-Benhaddou are nestled at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. This fortified walled city was built right on the caravan path between Marrakech and the Sahara and was once a thriving trading post during the 17th century. However, its most striking feature is the 690-foot minaret. Not only is it decorated in chrome, green, and blue tiles, but it’s also retrofitted with a laser beam, which shines in the direction of Mecca.
I hope this helps you get an idea of all of the best places you can visit in Morocco and I hope you’re inspired to go. It’s OK if you don’t know what you’re getting, just buy it. And a bottle of wine for under $15…it’s like a treasure hunt in the smaller towns to find alcohol for a reasonable price. But after nearly three months without alcohol, we felt we deserved some when we actually found it.

Rooms have sea views and big bathrooms, while the outdoor pool, spa, included breakfast, and good restaurant make it a favorite with guests looking for an easy, comfortable stay. According to Greek mythology Tangier, or Tingi, was founded by the giant Antaeus. Tingi is mentioned by Carthaginian travelers as early as 500 BC, and Phoenician sailors visited even earlier. Melilla's fortified old town is the main focus of most of the town's sightseeing.
It’s this very history and culture that attracts tourists here from far and wide. In fact, Tangier is what had inspired famous works like Paul Bowles’ The Sheltering Sky as well as William Burroughs’ Naked Lunch. Other than the historical vibes, you’ll also find some remaining bohemian cafes and louche bars here to chill here located in the midst of the famous places to see in Morocco. Showing off its battle scars with pride, this busy and bustling port city has turned into one of the top places to visit in Morocco. Morocco's Atlantic coast is home to its fair share of surf breaks, some of them world-class.

The distance to these unusual structures is around 25 kilometers. The three most well-known ones are the city of Orion, the golden spiral, and the ladder to heaven. Using regional materials, German architect Hannsjönrg Voth built these works of contemporary art.
Within the medina you'll still find everything being transported by donkeys and handcarts. Marrakech is an ideal place to stay for travellers looking to discover its ancient customs, the nearby Atlas Mountains or visit the traditional hammam spas and colourful Jemaa el-Fnaa market. The brightly coloured juice bar near the market is a must visit pit stop to sample a traditional fruit juice. Arid dunes, snowy mountains, coastal towns, colourful bazaars and bright green forests, welcome to the diverse and unique, Morocco. Fly with us and discover a whole new world of smells, sounds and tastes. An arty town on the Atlantic coast with murals painted all over its medina.
In this guide, I will cover everything this capital city has to offer in terms of what to do, where to stay and where to eat while you are there. Accommodation there can be very cheap and there are plenty of food markets where you can buy cheap fruits and vegetables. Rabat is also a very liberal city where Moroccans are generally very open-minded.

And the architecture of the palaces and madrasas is some of the most intricate and elaborate in the country. You usually picture enormous deserts, high mountains, and an extremely hot, arid climate when you think about Morocco. However, if you draw a line from Northern Morocco to the US, you’ll discover that it’s at a similar latitude to Washington, DC, a location that has extremely chilly and frequently snowy winters. Of course, it is always courteous to ask permission before taking a picture of someone in any nation.

Places To Visit In Morocco 2023: Tourist Attractions & Things To Do!

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 01:00 (ссылка)

The museum documents the traditional crafts of the region, incorporating Marrakesh, the banks of the Tensift River and the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas ranges. The Miaara Jewish Cemetery has a special place in Jewish culture, as the burial place of many tzaddikim . An ornate mausoleum, with a carved cedar roof and detailed stucco mouldings, is reserved for the president of the city’s Jewish community. Men will be given a yarmulke to wear as they go in, to be faced by a field of long, whitewashed tombs, most worn down over time but some keeping their triangular outline.
If you’re in need of a souvenir or two to take home, you’ll find everything from artisan crafts and clothing to spices and rugs at the sprawling Souk El Had market. Sidi Ifni is a charming coastal town in southern Morocco. With its white-washed buildings, scenic beaches, and laid-back atmosphere, it’s the perfect destination for travelers looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Overall, the Merzouga desert offers a unique and unforgettable travel experience, combining stunning natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage.

After a hard day’s sightseeing, head to a hamman to be steamed, soaped, scrubbed, and massaged into a state of total relaxation. Wherever you go, you’ll emerge squeaky clean with baby-soft skin. Moroccan cuisine is a genuine melting pot – alongside Amazigh influences, Arabs, Moors, Ottoman Turks, and French all left their culinary mark. In Fez, Morocco’s oldest imperial city, time appears to have stopped. Dating back to the 8th century, Fez El Bali – the world’s largest living medieval medina – is a jumble of souqs, workshops, and mosques, with a tangle of more than 9,000 narrow alleyways to explore. There’s certainly no shortage of things to do – here are some of the best.
We decided we didn’t want to pay 300 DH to get into a club that already appeared like a sausage fest from the outside. Although most Moroccans are Muslims, yes, they still have all these. Bucket List Hashish, an extract of the cannabis plant, is quite commonly offered to you in the streets. At least a third of our group wasn’t feeling well after the first meal in Morocco.

On Sundays, there’s also a much bigger weekend market just outside the city walls. It’s near the future university district which is currently under construction. You can buy everything here including livestock such as camels and goats. Alternatively if you happen to be visiting Taroudant Morocco in a motorhome or campervan, there is a basic campsite. It’s right outside the city walls, literally just through the gateway Bab Lkhmis on Av. Owing to its location in the extremely fertile Souss valley, the main source of income around these parts still comes from farming.
Savour the picturesque views of the Draa Valley, which stretches from the city of Ouarzazate into the desert. The people are also super friendly, so you will surely get to revel in some sweet hospitality here that makes this one of the top places to visit in Morocco. Don’t forget to check out the secluded and quiet Ras El Maa, one of the most fascinating and secret places to visit in Morocco. Being North Africa’s highest mountain range, High Atlas is popularly known as the mountain of mountains.

The rustling date palms and cool mud-brick castles of Zagora, Tamnougalt, Timidarte and Agdz must once have seemed like mirages after two months in the Sahara. Fortifications that once welcomed gold-laden caravans are now open to overnight guests, who wake to fresh boufeggou dates, bread baked in earthen ovens and a slower pace of life. A gateway to Africa, Morocco is a country of dazzling diversity. You'll find rugged mountain ranges, rolling deserts, ancient cities, deserted beaches and warm hospitality. I’ve visited this country at both these times and found it the perfect mix between good tourist numbers and the best climate range across the board. If you’re looking to travel across Morocco, visiting several regions, then I recommend either the Spring (March & April) or Autumn months (September & October) as the best all-round times to visit.
The Sahara Desert is a magical place to spend a few nights. Use the eastern town of Merzougaas your gateway to the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes . From here, you can book a camel safari or a 4x4 tour, both of which offer the chance to spend the night under the stars or in a traditional Bedouin village. Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular in the desert, transforming the dunes into dreamlike landscapes of ochre and red. After dark, the stars are blazing constellations unspoiled by the pollution of civilization. Keep an eye out for nocturnal desert creatures, including the jerboa and the fennec fox.

This central, peaceful family run hotel has a perfect combination of traditional Moroccan style with modern comforts.
I’ve been to a lot of Roman ruins in my travels, but this one is my favorite. This old and powerful city is one of the best places in the country. Its narrow streets are filled with wonderful aromas, mosques, craft shops, and crowds upon crowds of people. Though Fez can be a bit overwhelming, once you get used to the pace of the city, it’s simply magical. Walking around Chefchaouen is like stepping into a dream.
This is surely among the best places to visit in Morocco. Despite its old age and architecture, Meknes makes its way to the list of the top best places to visit in Morocco. It is located in the north of Morocco, and is a 9th-century medina and also one of the country’s previous capitals. The Atlas Mountains stretch over 1,500 miles, from the west coast of Morocco toTunisia.

Right on the district's edge, Avenue Hassan II follows the 17th-century defensive wall separating the modern city from the medina. Mohammed VI Museum of Contemporary ArtsFor anyone interested in Morocco's modern art movement, this museum is one of Rabat's top things to do. This makes it very different to the medinas of Fes and Marrakesh. For a good overview of the entire Chellah ruins, an overlooking terrace provides excellent views across the site. Chellah NecropolisThe remnants of the 14th-century Merenid citadel-town of Chellah are an atmospheric place. Inside the 11th-century fortress walls is a small neighborhood of winding lanes rimmed by Andalusian-style houses.

It is taught in schools, so their fluency is pretty high. Arabic is also a common language so primarily cab drivers in Marrakesh usually ask visitors in either Arabic or French, rarely in English. Arm yourself with words beyond ‘bonjour’ or ‘oui’ so you can enjoy the hospitality of the locals and of course to bargain in the medina. Member specials Access travel and partner special offers available exclusively for our members.
Unfortunately, many visitors stick to the basics and don’t explore the full potential of Morocco. They get confused about what Morocco is famous for thinking the country is a desert land full of oases and camels. This is not incorrect actually, but there is much much more. Tafraoute is a jumble of pink houses and market streets with extraordinary surroundings. The Ameln Valley is dotted with palmeraies and villages, and the looming mountains stage a twice-daily, ocher-and-amber light show, while the Aït Mansour Gorge is a verdant respite from the red rock. It makes a wonderful base for activities including hiking, mountain biking and seeking out prehistoric rock carvings.

There are little stalls selling these stuffed crepe-like things everywhere. …in a random village while taking a road trip through Morocco. There are so many adorable villages to just sit and forget that time exists. —Telouet Kasbah was one of my favorite things to do in Morocco. And yes, that’s the wind, this is not staged or Photoshopped. When you go off on an adventure you may come across a stream that your non-4-wheel drive may need to cross.
Fredj Hotel & SPA has a rooftop pool, with sweeping views over the bay; a restaurant; and spa, while its good-sized rooms have plenty of minimalist, modern style. The high-rise and modern Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Center is a solid mid-range choice offering stylish Bucket List interiors, a gym, and restaurant. In 1679, Moulay Ismail made an unsuccessful attempt to seize the town but maintained a crippling blockade, which ultimately led to a British retreat. The English granted Tangier a charter, which made the city equal to English towns.

It was Spanish territory for a long time which is reflected in the food (paella, anyone?) and historic ramparts. All you need to know about visiting Imsouane Morocco, including how to get there, the best surf spots, where to eat and exciting day trips. If you have additional time you may enjoy taking a visit to the spectacular Palais Claudio Bravo.
The fragrant fresh spices and dried fruits sections are particularly good. Riad Amnay

Typically located within the historic medina of cities like Fez, Marrakesh, and Meknes, these maze-like bazaars are filled with colors, scents, and sounds. Discover labyrinthine shops overflowing with Aladdin's lamps and swathes of richly colored fabric, or listen to the vendors as they advertise everything from hand-woven carpets to raw spices. The souk is the best place to buy your souvenirs, but be prepared for aggressive sales tactics and to bargain enthusiastically for the lowest price. Haggling is a skill that requires a good sense of humor and plenty of tenacity. Get ready for a journey through every country in the world. Tucked into the green folds of the Rif Mountains, charming Chefchaouen is famed for its blue-hued medina.
Erg Chebbi DunesMarrakesh is as close as many people will ever come to the open Sahara Desert, and it’s thrilling to think that those romantic orange and bronze dunescapes are within reach. Ouzoud WaterfallsMarrakesh’s inland location puts awesome natural wonders within striking distance, and there’s a whole catalogue of once-in-a-lifetime experiences available. This goes for the pieces hanging at this museum, and if you’re in luck the museum’s owner will be around to share some of the background on each rug and what they say about Berber culture. Newly revamped with a gallery for women, you’ll find it on a courtyard hidden down a narrow alley, its vivid blue tilework, doors and benches contrasting with the oranges and browns of the city. As well as somewhere to get a handle on the city’s past, the Mellah is a place to shop away from the city’s frenzied main souks. On your journey you’ll become acquainted with Berber festivities, commerce and domestic life.

Alternatively, Rôtisserie Nahda at 1 Rue Moulay Youssef is an alcohol-free, no-frills affair tucked away on a residential street in the neighbourhood of Nahda. Here, men in white djellabas (traditional full-length cotton robes) gather with their families for a hearty meal under the stars.
Or get busy at The Ruined Garden where you’ll bake five kinds of typical bread, including baghrir or “thousand-holes” pancake. The fabled Red City of Marrakesh is a sensory overload of sights, sounds, and smells. Its ancient medina is a maze of narrow streets with the Djemaa El Fna – arguably Africa’s most famous square – at its heart, and its nightly circus of storytellers, snake charmers, and musicians. In the oldest part of Marrakech, the souks are still divided by trade. While artisans still make handlooms, wood and metal products, there is an increasing number of boutiques selling new designs of age-old crafts. For some, shopping at the souks can be as much of a cultural experience as the shopping.
Their menu selection is very good and they serve delicious steaks accompanied by some of the best wine you’ll find in Rabat. It’s complete with wooden fixtures and an elegant interior where you can enjoy the finest French cuisine in Rabat. The chicken Pastilla is done just right, not too sweet and not too savory and with lots of chicken. The meals are also served with olives and roasted almonds on the side. Just the right mix of flavors for an authentic Moroccan food experience.

4×4 Dunes Tour, MerzougaYou may be pushed for time, so you can swap a camel for an air-conditioned 4×4, and cram enough activities for a couple of days into just seven hours. Best Cities in Morocco You Need to Explore in 2023

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 00:55 (ссылка)

M’diq beach resort is popular with day-trippers for its seafront boulevard and excellent seafood restaurants. Alternatively, adventure-seekers can indulge in jet-skiing, windsurfing, deep sea fishing and scuba diving; while history buffs will love Martil, the port of Tetouan and a one-time pirate’s lair. Located approximately 50 kilometers south of the Strait of Gibraltar, the northern city of Tetouan is one of Morocco’s most under-appreciated tourist destinations. It sits at the foot of the spectacular Rif Mountains, in a valley of orange and almond orchards. Tetouan’s history began in the late 13th century, when it was founded by members of the Marinid dynasty.
Located near Tinerhir in the High Atlas Mountains, this gorge is one of the most recognized in the world and has become very popular with travelers looking to hike the canyon. It’s a challenging hike and takes around 4 hours but if you’re looking for something truly different and outdoorsy in Morocco, don’t miss out on this. For an even more unique experience, skip the day trip and stay overnight in the nearby village of Ait Baha. El Jadida is a coastal city located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, known for its stunning beaches, rich history, and stunning architecture. This charming city has a unique blend of Portuguese, Berber, and Moroccan influences, making it a fascinating destination for visitors. Marrakech is a vibrant blend of traditional Moroccan and Berber culture.

This desert town is the jumping-off point for Erg Chebbi, a hugely impressive collection of dunes close to the Algerian border. There are many great tours offered in Fez but the ones below you simply can not miss out on. Morocco is famed for its many palaces, but one of the most fascinating is found in Marrakech. The glitzy Bahia Palace is a beautiful work of art and architecture that dates back to the mid-19th century.
This family-owned guesthouse located right in the center of the old city will certainly charm you. It’s located amid the colorful streets of the old Medina and in the perfect location to soak in all the atmosphere of the busy market. Rabat and the nearby city of Salé both have beautiful coastlines for those who want to escape the hustle Bucket List Morocco and bustle of the city and breathe in the fresh seaside air. No trip to a Moroccan city would be complete without taking time to stroll around and get lost in the streets of Rabat’s old city center. The citadel is now mainly a residential area and it’s very peaceful to walk around the narrow little streets of this old medina.

Food stalls pop up around the square, and magicians, dancers, and musicians come out to entertain the guests all night long. Even if you aren’t hungry or in the mood for shopping, you can still soak in the magically vibrant atmosphere that pulsates through Djemaa El Fna. Avid shoppers will inevitably have heard of Fez, Morocco’s second-largest city known for its leather tanneries. Not only will you be able to buy a variety of products like purses, shoes, and furniture, but you’ll also be able to see how the leather is dyed. Come for a trek along the dried-up riverbed or for sunrise to photograph the golden, sweeping views. Rock climbers can also trek up the canyon walls, as there are over 150 bolts along the gorge.
Yes, you’ll get hassled in the bigger cities for sure, but nothing that made me feel unsafe. It’s simply all there in the name of art and is pretty cool. Surrounded by desert, a Belgian artist colored a bunch of rocks pink and blue, apparently for his late wife.

From popular tourist spot Marrakech to the quieter coastal town of Essaouira and the arty, photogenic town of Asilah, these are the best things to do in Morocco. Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking Tiout Oasis there is an ancient Kasbah. Part of it has been transformed into a popular restaurant, Cafe Restaurant Kasbah. It has amazing views over Souss Valley and the vast expanse of Moroccan countryside below. Okay time for something a little more unusual to do in Taroudant as this afternoon we suggest visiting the tannery.
Because breath control and the ability to stay focused in stressful situations are both important skills for surfers, many of the village’s camps and hotels offer generous surfing and yoga packages. Some, like Amouage by Surf Maroc, include twice-daily classes in an open-air setting with inspiring ocean views. Others, like Adventurekeys Surf & Yoga, offer the chance to try aerial yoga.

A completely charming Taroudant hotel traditionally decorated with Moroccan carving and textiles. Bonuses include a swimming pool and terrace with panoramic views. Riad Maryam
Sand Baths, MerzougaAn alternative therapy that will give you a story to tell to your friends back home, a sand bath means being immersed in a dune at the very height of summer. Morocco National 4×4 Auto MuseumOne of the more surreal sights in Merzouga is a national museum dedicated to off-road vehicles, here on the edge of the desert. Often independent of its ritualistic purpose, Gnawa music has been exported beyond Morocco and is celebrated at major events like Essaouira’s Gnaoua World Music Festival. You can do just that in Merzouga, and finish it all the traditional way with a glass of mint tea. Now, many people can claim to have cooked their own tagine, but few can say that they’ve visited a Berber family in the middle of the Sahara and taken tips on how to make a tagine the proper way. More than 30 different species have been spotted on the lake’s shores, from pipits to shelducks, sandpipers, plovers, wagtails and storks.
The city of Marrakech is the result of Europe, Africa and the Middle East merging. This pink hued city sits right on the edge of the Sahara Desert, with the stunning snow-capped Atlas Mountains silhouetted in the background. A centuries-old trading hub, Marrakech is a thriving hotspot for poets, artists and writers. Use Qantas Points With lots of ways to use your points, you’ll be sure to find something you like. Plan your perfect budget honeymoon with this guide to cheaper destinations that you might not have considered. Like a green carpet spread on top of the red-tinged rocky landscape, Skoura’s idyllic palmeraie rustles with dates palms. With stylish guesthouses and farm-to-fork restaurants, it makes the perfect place to linger and enjoy the slower pace of oasis life.

Best Things To Do In Morocco A Complete Guide

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 00:55 (ссылка)

You won’t encounter as many merchants and artisans here as in other Kasbahs and medinas of Morocco but the ones you’ll meet have some amazing wooden souvenirs for sale. On top of being the place where the king and his family spend most of their time, this palace is also a place where many of the most important governmental offices in the country are found. Visiting Rabat’s giant cemetery might sound a bit creepy. It’s probably far from how you had pictured your trip to Rabat but believe me, it should definitely be included in the sights you visit. The size of this zoo and the sheer amount of different species that can be observed here makes this place worthy of a full day visit.
You will of course find cafes serving this all over Taroudant Morocco, but we suggest heading to the terrace at Cafe Bachar. From Agadir specifically you also have local bus and shared taxi options. Unfortunately both only have websites in French so you’ll need to translate. With its magnificent red-mud walls and the snow capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains in the background it’s not hard to see why Taroudant has the nickname the ‘Pearl of Souss Valley’.

It’s likely your driver will only speak French and Arabic, but you might get lucky. There’s two benches inside facing each other which can fit four passengers comfortably and six at a squeeze. This is the main entrance through which any formal convoys including the sultans came.
Fredj Hotel & SPA has a rooftop pool, with sweeping views over the bay; a restaurant; and spa, while its good-sized rooms have plenty of minimalist, modern style. The high-rise and modern Hilton Garden Inn Tanger City Center is a solid mid-range choice offering stylish Bucket List Morocco interiors, a gym, and restaurant. In 1679, Moulay Ismail made an unsuccessful attempt to seize the town but maintained a crippling blockade, which ultimately led to a British retreat. The English granted Tangier a charter, which made the city equal to English towns.

Whether you’re a surfer or just looking for a beach getaway, Imsouane is definitely worth a visit. With miles of golden sand and crystal-clear waters, it’s the perfect place to relax, swim, and catch a few waves. The town is home to several surf schools that cater to surfers of all levels, and the consistent waves make it a popular destination for surfers from around the world.
Hike to the top of the dunes for breathtaking views of the desert, and experience the thrill of sandboarding down the slopes. Day Trip to the Atlas Mountains – The Atlas Mountains offer a chance to escape the heat and hustle of Marrakech and immerse yourself in nature. Take a scenic drive around the Atlas Mountains and stop at small Berber villages to learn about local life and customs.
Yes, you’ll get hassled in the bigger cities for sure, but nothing that made me feel unsafe. It’s simply all there in the name of art and is pretty cool. Surrounded by desert, a Belgian artist colored a bunch of rocks pink and blue, apparently for his late wife.

The Kasbah Museum offers a variety of interesting exhibits about the art and culture of Morocco. You’ll be able to learn about their people, customs, traditions & lifestyle through interactive exhibits. It’s a great choice for travelers interested in exploring the old Medina, visiting the busy markets and trying out the local food. The trail can be hard to follow, so be confident in your navigation or book a guide to lead you. Once at the top, there are phenomenal panoramic views over the mountains and the blue city below.

For more touristy or Western restaurants, expect to spend at least 150 MAD or more per main dish. I gorged on couscous, drank my body weight in mint tea, hiked, and absorbed the hectic sights and sounds of the country. Another must-visit attraction in Meknes is the Heri es-Souani, a massive granary and stable that was built in the 17th century. Take a tour of the complex and imagine what life was like for the horses and the soldiers who once lived and worked here.
If you prefer calmer seas, then one of the best things to do in Morocco is to visit Tetouan. Located on the peaceful Meditteranean Sea, the beaches of Tetouan provide year-round warm waters to tourists. In summer, the beaches here are heaving with package holidaymakers from Europe, but if you’re looking for sun, sea, and sand – and all at a great price! Morocco’s capital is one of the most interesting cities in the country, but it’s always surprising how few people actually visit it or can even name it. No, the capital isn’t Casablanca or even Marrakech, but Rabat. You don’t need to take a ferry over to Europe to visit Spain, because there’s a piece of Spain inside Morocco.
It’s a really captivating experience, but definitely not for the faint hearted. It’s not really set up for tourists, however you will be able to find someone to show you around and explain the process in French or Arabic. This place is a co-op so each tanner here has a small souk where you can buy some beautiful leather products from. You’ll find the Taroudant medina stretching out either side from the main square of Place Assarag. If i’s something you are in the market for, Taroudant is also a great place to buy a rug. You will still need to barter, but can generally get a better price than you will in the more touristy markets in Marrakesh or Fez.

This is by far the most interesting restaurant/bar where you could eat and drink in Rabat. It’s located on the Bou Regreg river just outside of the Kasbah Oudaias and it’s set in the replica of an old Moroccan merchant vessel. It’s not located very close to the old Medina but the fact that it’s right next to a tram stop is very convenient. This means that visitors coming here will be able to walk around without stressing too much and simply enjoy the experience. While we were there we saw a few people reading books under the trees in the company of the cats who call this place their home. If we would live in Rabat, reading in this garden could easily become our daily ritual.

Awesome Things to Do in Morocco That'll Make You Pack Your Bags NOW

Visit his exhibiton at the Tangier American Legation Museum, then follow in his footsteps to Café Hafa overlooking the Straits of Gibraltar. Morocco’s rich musical culture boasts influences from Amazigh to Andalusian, Arabian to sub-Saharan and it’s fast becoming a top spot for music festivals showcasing eclectic rhythms. Indulge in a selection of handmade petits fours (Dh130/£10) at the Tafarnout Pâtisserie , which opens each morning at 5am (to 10.30pm) on the corner of Avenue Hassan II and Rue de la Foire .

Opened next door to the gardens in 2017, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent is dedicated to Yves’s couture legacy and has a permanent display of hundreds of garments spanning his 40-year career. Many ferries from Spain arrive into Tangier, but staying a few nights in this city, on your way into or out of the country, should definitely be factored in. But now we head back to the beaten track, with an absolute must-visit place in Morocco and somewhere I head on every trip – that is the beguiling city of Fez. Well, obviously Morocco Bucket List not Morocco, because here you can’t move for delicious local food, which is always washed down with a glass of fresh mint tea. From nights spent under the stars in a desert camp to sunsets watched from the back of a camel, the wonder of the desert never ceases to amaze me and my time in Morocco’s didn’t disappoint.

It's the baby of Parisian Patrick Menac’h and Marrakshi Hamid Mergani, who compounded their passions for vintage Moroccan photography by opening this gallery. Tattooed Atlas Mountain women, aristocratic Arabs from Fez, round-eyed servants and djellaba-clad wanderers all gaze out from the walls. Most fascinating of all are the scenes capturing Marrakesh landmarks, like the 1920s shot of Djemaa El Fna as an Amazigh market, a subtle, sepia-tinted doorway into the past.
At Desert Morocco Adventure we organize daily Marrakech desert tours and trips through Morocco. Inside Bahia Palace, a prime piece of medina real estate, Marrakshi artisans really went to town in a furious frenzy of zellige , carved plasterwork and zouak detailing. Crane your neck to soak up the statement ceilings, swirling with intricate and delicately colored motifs and designs, in the palace salons where pashas (high-ranking officials) once posed. Leave the bustle and throb of the medina behind to hide out amid lush, shaded inner courtyards and stroll through the extravagantly marbled grand court. When to VisitTips & Travel trends to help you pick the perfect time to visit this destination.
There are many beautiful mosques in Morocco, but Casablanca's Hassan II mosque is one of the most impressive. It's the largest mosque in the country, and at 689 feet, its minaret is the tallest in the world. A relatively modern structure, it was completed in 1993 at the orders of King Hassan II, who wished to create a Casablancan landmark that could be recognized worldwide. The mosque took seven years to build and required the input of 10,000 artisan craftsmen. Today, non-Muslims can take a tour of the building's breathtaking interior outside prayer times. Alternatively, admire the beauty of the building and its oceanfront setting from the outside.

As a result, it is generally forbidden in the Quran to consume any intoxicants. Additionally, an outdated regulation prohibits the selling of alcohol in any establishment with a line of sight to a mosque . Several languages are spoken in Morocco, but Modern Standard Arabic and Amazigh are the two official tongues . You can find it difficult to converse at times if you don’t speak French because English isn’t as widely spoken. If you plan on visiting the Northern region of Morocco between the months of November and March, come prepared with clothes that you can bundle up in.
Casablanca is a port city in Morocco that oozes charm and character. On the Atlantic coast, it’s a hub for business and tourism. With its blend of modern architecture and traditional elements, it’s an exciting destination for travelers. The highlight of a Sahara Desert tour is visiting the dune fields. The towering sand dunes provide a spectacular backdrop for photos and are a must-visit for any traveler.

Learn more in this full Todra Gorge travel guide I wrote following my magical time there. The perfect chilled antidote to hectic and touristy Marrakesh, this really is a dream spot among the remote valleys at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. Make your way into the Sahara Desert and set your eyes on the bright orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. It’s relatively close to the city of Merzouga, which makes for an easy overnight trip for those coming from Marrakech.
The Grand Socco marks the end of the new city and entry to the medina. This is where Tangier locals come to stroll, play, and sit in the surrounding cafes for hours. The Kasbah Museum is a great place to learn more about the culture and art of Morocco. It offers a variety of interesting exhibits, such as Exhibits on Moroccan Cinema.

Best Things to Do In Marrakech in 2023

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 00:39 (ссылка)

I also imagined the capital of the country would be very expensive but it actually isn’t. People from Rabat are super welcoming and fun and the city itself has plenty of cool sites to visit. This guide includes everything you need to see and do in Rabat, how to get there, how to get around in the city, where to eat and where to stay in Rabat Morocco. Two of the top-rated include Riad el Reducto and Blanco Riad. If you have your own car or if you’re renting one, you’ll find that the highway connecting the two cities is a very pleasant one to drive on.
Go for a hike to admire the stunning scenery and perhaps spot a Barbary macaque or two. The northern part of the Atlas Mountains reaches aït bouguemez. Many of Taghazout’s hotels and hostels offer guided tours to Paradise Valley, a secret oasis situated in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.

Opened next door to the gardens in 2017, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent is dedicated to Yves’s couture legacy and has a permanent display of hundreds of garments spanning his 40-year career. Essaouira is famous for the wild beach of Diabet village where hippies settled in the 1970s after they were chased out of Ibiza. Casablanca is the most modern city in Morocco, yes, but it also retains its ancient medina, which contrasts sharply with the city’s grand avenues. Compared to other medinas in other rather touristy destinations in Morocco, the medina of Casablanca Morocco Things to do is quite small and less authentic. There are actually at least seven waterfalls found in this beautiful canyon. They make a great day trip from Marrakech, being located just a few hours away from the popular tourist hotspot. Much of the grand, royal architecture remains to this day, while Meknes sees just a fraction of the tourists that visit more popular destinations.

You may travel in first class by rail from Casablanca to Fes for as little as 195 Dhs ($20 USD) per person. You’ll get a spacious, comfy seat with lots of storage space in a 6-person cabin. Second class is an option if you want to save some money, but it can get quite crowded and you won’t have a designated seat.
I suggest always keeping your wallet in your front pocket or carrying a money belt. Another great option is to travel with a slash-resistant and lockable anti-theft bag. I would also recommend getting good travel insurance that covers theft. The best solution to avoid being pick-pocketed is to stay aware of your belongings and surroundings at all times.

There’s a fantastic mix of French colonial architecture and Islamic inspired buildings, palaces, and mosques to explore in Casablanca. Although Rabat might be the capital, it’s not actually Morocco’s largest city. That title goes to the much better-known city of Casablanca, enshrined into eternity by the timeless movie of the same name.
A tour of the Hassan II Casablanca Mosque should be on any good Morocco itinerary. Here’s everything you need to know for a successful visit. All about the ferry from Algeciras to Tangier, including sailing times, buying tickets, onboard facilities, required documents and customs info.

Inside you'll find a handful of small museums; the cave and tunnel complex of Las Cuevas del Conventico, which were first excavated by the Phoenicians; and a 17th-century cathedral. More recently, it has been under the control of both Spain and Portugal. But the town's imposing ramparts, with surviving bastions and towers, now offer a setting for delightful seaside walks. AsilahThe little town of Asilah, about 40 kilometers from Tangier on the northwest tip of Morocco's Atlantic coast, has a history that stretches back to the Roman era.
The region of Al-Hoceima on the Mediterranean coast is a lovely resort area with a gorgeous strip of coastline and a stunning national park to boot. Lying in the south of the county, this is a beautiful area full of outdoor activities to enjoy amidst the remote mountain range and its valleys. The Dades, Draa and Ziz Valley have wonderful examples of palmeraies and the local villages surrounding them usually offer fantastic homestay opportunities away from the travel crowds. After all this landlocked time however, you may well be clamouring for the sea and top of the list when it comes to towns on Morocco’s coast is Essaouira. Easily accessible from Meknes too, most tourists however tend to visit the white-washed hilltop site of Moulay Idriss from Fez as part of a day tour that also covers Volubilis and Meknes. Learn more about what to budget for your Morocco trip is this article I wrote about the costs of travelling in the country.
The Moroccan Dirham (DEE-rahm) goes for roughly 10.65 Dirhams per 1 USD or 10.73 per 1 euro. We thought things would be cheaper in Morocco, but because of how touristy the country has become, the prices were comparable to Europe. It was mostly really old men, and it happened more often in crowded places. When visiting mosques, you need to cover down to your wrists and ankles. Even if you’re traveling with a group of guys, you may still get harassed. Some of the girls in our group got groped on multiple occasions even though we were paired off with a male buddy.

The city wall of Taroudant stands as high as 10 metres in some places, is up to 4 metres thick and stretches nearly 8 kilometres long. It has 130 towers, 19 bastions, and 9 entrance gates, the most impressive of which is the triple arched Bab Sesla. Sidi Abderrahman, considered a saint by some Muslims, came from Baghdad in the 19th century and settled on this islet. The marabout lived there until the end of his days and is now a pilgrimage site. Also known as Casablanca Cathedral, it is not really a cathedral.

A List Of The Greatest Experiences For Your Next Trip

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 00:35 (ссылка)

A lesser known city but also has a unique beauty of its own. The orange trees along the government buildings is a delight for your sight and smell. Most importantly, they have a beautiful beach, and you have it for yourself and the locals only. Rabat is one of the missed Morocco travel tips, and it is unfortunate that most tourists skip this city because it actually is one of the most peaceful and laid back cities in Morocco. When it comes to offering diverse experiences, North Africa is a must.
Place des Épices is the traditional spice souk where you’ll find merchants selling everything from allspice to ras al hanout . The epic ruins of Sultan Ahmed al-Mansour's once-magnificent palace, set within sunken gardens and surrounded by epic ramparts whose decrepit towers boast panoramic views over the medina. Phone cameras at the ready – Jardin Majorelle is pure Instagram gold. Though you’ll see some cringe photoshoots going on, it’s impossible to take a bad picture here. Bahia Palace (which roughly translates to ‘beautiful palace’) was built in the late 19th century, and now forms the epicentre of the city’s culture.

The aroma of freshly baked breads and pastries drifts on to the outdoor terrace, where you can also dine on good omelettes and fruit juices. A more intimate option is the Suite Hotel Tilila on Avenue du Général Kettani , decorated with Berber art and wooden furniture. Although I do acknowledge it's challenging to keep up, I decided to stay the way I am and not change for how reality works. Some people may use it against you but there are workarounds to make them back off.
Visit the nearby fishing village of Taghazout for a glimpse into local life, or head to the seaside city of Essaouira for a cultural adventure. Try traditional Moroccan dishes like kefta, a meatball dish, or bissara, a hearty soup made from fava beans. The town is also famous Morocco Bucket List for its kif, a type of cannabis, which is grown in the surrounding mountains. Casablanca is also a great base for exploring the rest of Morocco. Visit the nearby city of Rabat, the country’s political capital, or head to the seaside town of Essaouira for a relaxed beach vibe.

They will invite you to their home for dinner, and that will be a feast. Talk to them, and you’ll find out that they just want to hang out. Morocco is one of the few French-speaking countries in Africa. It was previously a French colony which explains why French became the language of the government and media.
Located in the heart of Taroudant, all rooms in this beautifully renovated riad have patios overlooking the stunning inner courtyard. In this guide we’ll be covering a little about the city’s fascinating history, how to get there, where to stay, the top places to eat, plus all the best things to do in Taroudant Morocco. Just west of Mohammed V Square is the so-called Art-Decó neighborhood. Along the busy Mohammed V Avenue, you can enjoy numerous facades of this artistic movement that transformed part of the city. The minaret has a laser that points to Mecca and can be seen from several kilometers away.
Moroccan cuisine has tantalized the taste buds of global foodies for decades, and Marrakesh has the most diverse dining scene in the country. The hearty, savory-sweet flavors of real Marrakshi food can be found in both diffa blowouts in palace restaurants and in alleyway stalls where caramelized tajines bubble on gas stoves. Whether you want to spice up your pantry with North African flavors or buy a carpet to add Moroccan-wow to your house, Marrakesh is one of the best shopping destinations in the world. Think of the medina's souqs as a shopping mall, dotted with shops, accommodations, museums and historic sites, but laid out according to a labyrinthine medieval-era plan. This hill overlooking Erfoud formerly housed a military outpost.

This valley runs between the Jebel Sarhro and High Altas mountain ranges and is frequently visited by Globetrotters as it offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. Don’t forget to head to Todra Gorge for the best experience. Tangier is among the most beautiful Morocco tourist places out of all the European-looking Moroccan cities. This fascinating city had played a major role in the literary history of Morocco in the 20th-century and is very much responsible for shaping this country as we know it today.
Marrakesh’s Jewish population has now dwindled to just a few dozen, as you’ll see from the occasional glimpses of Stars of David on the walls. The Mellah has been restored a little in the reign of Mohammed VI, readopting its original Jewish street names. In this fine riad you’ll see carvings in stone and wood, furniture, baskets, fabrics, djellabas , jewelry, cooking implements and more, all matched with well-researched descriptions. Such is the importance of the collection that the museum has now become part of Marrakesh’s Cadi Ayyad University.

Also, traveler’s checks are pretty much useless in Morocco. A few people from our group thought the ATM was giving an error and tried multiple times, but the ATM didn’t dispense any while still charging it from the bank for every attempt. More established shops will take credit card, but most smaller markets, street vendors, and cabs will not. Seeing goats in a tree on the side of the highway while making our way to Essaouira, you don’t see something like that every day. Essaouira is a hotbed for all things wave and wind-related.
Not too far from Kasbah des Oudaias in front of the giant cemetery, there is a lighthouse that we found particularly beautiful. This old city is much less chaotic and more accessible than others around the country. The streets are filled with millions of colors, smells, and noises.

Lamb tagine served with onions, green olives, dates and a boiled egg is the speciality and costs Dh65 (£5). But this modern Moroccan beach resort demands to be enjoyed at a more leisurely pace. We recommend looking into the Morocco tours with Contiki, Intrepid Travel and G Adventures. Group Travel Book 10 or more passengers travelling to the same destination. All flight deals Deals on Qantas flights across a range of international destinations, including flights to Australia, flights to New Zealand and flights to New Caledonia.

The Top Things to See and Do in Morocco

Четверг, 10 Февраля 2023 г. 00:34 (ссылка)

There are ATM’s available at certain hotels and central locations in the cities. You can buy your SIM card at your arrival at the airport or local shops in the touristy areas, which I recommend. You never know when you’re going to get sick or being involved in an accident or getting robbed.
The low-budget alternative is bus 22, which departs every 40 minutes from outside the terminal (until 8.30pm). It requires a change in the town of Inezgane, just south of Agadir, where you catch a number 20, 24 or 28 to reach Place Salem in the city centre. Even women are often warned to be careful with harassment. While there are isolated cases, this stems from the hospitality and friendly attitude of Moroccans that most Western people misunderstand. Store owners in the Medina would ask you to marry his son for a ton of leather or 200 hundred camels. This will be viewed as flirting, coupled with the tones and expressions of Moroccans but this is entirely casual for them.

Spring and Summer (Feb-July) are the best times to hit the north of the country when the temperatures there are warmer and the wildflowers in abundance. The town of Tafroute, with its pretty red, granite surrounds makes for a great base, with plenty of cycling, hiking and climbing activities on offer. And sticking with the “off the beaten track” theme , another great place to enjoy some hiking, traditional villages and stunning scenery away Morocco Things to do from the crowds in Morocco is the Anti Atlas. Made famous by the film, most people have a bit of a shock when they turn up in Casablanca these days to find a huge modern metropolis filled with people. But enough of all this coffeeshop and language-learning lark, now it’s time to get out there again, into the wilderness and what Morocco does best. And from Chefchaouen, many people then head onto the Mediterranean port city of Tangier.

This place is a paradise for trekkers, especially from spring to autumn. It runs diagonally across Morocco for approximately 1000 km, and its saw-toothed Jurassic peaks act as a weather barrier. Skiing may not be the first thing you think of when planning a trip to Morocco, and it's true that the slopes here are not of the same quality as those in the United States or Europe. However, the novelty of a day on the slopes in North Africa is hard to beat, which is why many thrill-seekers find themselves at the mountain resort of Oukaïmeden. During the winter months of December and January, snow covers the slopes of nearby Jebel Attar mountain, and creaking chairlifts take you to the top of the resort's five downhill runs. Other facilities include a nursery slope and ski school; and intermediate slopes accessed via drag lifts .
So this guide wouldn’t be complete without a quick history lesson. The King of Morocco has Royal Palaces in all the important cities of Morocco and Casablanca is no exception. The city’s Royal Palace is located in the Quartier Habous. Entry to the building is prohibited, as in all the Royal Palaces in the country, although it is possible to see its doors . Casablanca is a rather chaotic city and to be able to enjoy spaces like this one is appreciated.
The beach, the Kasbah Oudaias as well as the main train station are all within a short walking distance of this beautiful house. Another great way to explore the old town of Rabat is by going on a guided food tour in the old medina and Kasbah des Oudaias. Part of the walls and the houses have been painted in blue, which reminded us of Chefchaouen, Morocco’s famous blue city. The Moroccan capital is a city that is busy and constantly buzzing with life. It has a long and rich history and is the perfect place to visit many captivating historical landmarks.

Or head 30 minutes south to sleepy Sidi Kaouki with its consistent waves, wild beaches, and wallet-friendly accommodation. For even less-trodden trails, the region around Tafraoute is Morocco’s Amazigh heartland, where tribes and traditions hold firm. The High Atlas is a hiker’s paradise, running diagonally across the country for around 1000km , from the Atlantic coast to northern Algeria. Imlil, sitting in the foothills of the High Atlas 90 minutes from Marrakesh, is the jumping-off point for scaling Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak at 4167m , a two-day ascent.
Avoid faux guides – Faux guides linger in the medinas and offer you tour services. They are persistent but eventually give up if you keep walking. Food – Moroccan cuisine is a colorful, flavorful mix of Berber, Andalusian, and Mediterranean traditions with a pinch of French and sub-Saharan cuisine to round things out. It is a land of spices, so expect flavorful meals at every turn .

They take over so much of Morocco, you can even see them driving to the desert! This is a cool thing to do in Morocco because it’s regularly skipped by people flocking to Zagora. There will be tons of kasbahs to visit, they are super popular places to visit in Morocco. The arch that overlooks the city makes a dramatic backdrop and is a cool local goat hang out spot.
It is for this sense of authenticity that the medina was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. A major trading center and the southernmost settlement during Roman times, Volubilis is one of the best-preserved such ruins in the world. It originally dates to the 3rd century BCE and became the capital of the ancient kingdom of Mauretania, growing even more during Roman rule. I found it empty of tourists, not built up, and open in a way that lets you see the structures up close without being behind ten feet of barriers and jostled by crowds. Most of the city is still unexcavated so the site has a very “Indiana Jones” feel to it.
Bac français so as soon as they get it, 99% will go to France. But it’s kind of dumb, in my school we had as many hours in arabic as in french. If it was up to me 0 hours would be spent learning french. Please take the time to read the rules of this community, follow them and help us enforce them by reporting offenders. #6 A decent daypack you can then carry your camera, phrasebook, guidebook, water and snacks in, would also be very helpful.

Whether you’re interested in history, arts, food, or adventure, the cities of Morocco offer a unique and unforgettable experience. From the largest city to Moroccos imperial cities, there are great things to do in every Morocco City. And the best cities in Morocco that are definitely worth a visit. Essaouira is located a few hours from Marrakesh on the Atlantic coast and is a popular beach destination for tourists, especially Brits.

Best Things To Do In Morocco A Complete Guide

Central World is a seven floor shopping paradise which is hard to miss on a Thailand tour. With more than 500 stores placed in a way to make your shopping experience convenient, Central World offers everything from shopping, dining, to an amazing entertainment and nightlife. You don’t have to go through the hassle of cooking Thai food from scratch as you can find ready-made toppings such as Tom Yum, red curry, green curry at Thailand’s 7/11. I tried a couple of restaurants, but in my opinion, Rong Shu Xia has the 台東剝皮辣椒 best rice noodles in town. As you might have suspected from endless rice fields, East Rift Valley in Taitung produces top-quality, sticky, and chewy rice. No wonder rice noodles are one of the regional specialty dishes you should not miss.

A corner snack shop with a small variety of local and imported beers in tall bottles. They have a fairly substantial selection of skewers and other snacks. A small cafe for coffee enthusiasts, boasting hand brewed coffee and an authentic Faema espresso machine.
Fireworks were being blown up all over the place, large groups of people marched in the streets, car horns were blaring, and it was a wild, colorful time. During my total 40 nights in the hotel, I had a hot shower only three or four times. SourceThai culture is not entirely explored or experienced if not for Muay Thai – the combat of Thailand. They have popularised the expanse of Muay Thai shorts that you have the option of wearing if visiting this martial art combat competition. They are comfortable and enhance the Thai culture with its bright colour combination thus posing as a cultural souvenir from Thailand.
With the help of the hotel owner, I was able to find a doctor in Taitung and get treated for my ear infection. Below you can see the small room that I was living in during my stay in Taitung. The room cost me 500 New Taiwan Dollars each night (about $15 USD) and was barely big enough to turn around it. I had trouble sitting down at the small desk most of the time, because there wasn’t room for the chair to sit in front of the desk.

The staircase down to the beach far below is in disrepair. The hot spring is accessed on the remote Southern Cross-Island Highway . After an hour’s drive along the highway from Chishang, you’ll need to park and follow a steep downhill trail for 90 minutes. Finally, you’ll need to cross the river to access the hot pools. Original Tribe Mountain Cuisine (原始部落山地美食) This is an aboriginal restaurant and hangout spot west of the city and National Museum of Prehistory. It’s got artsy, aboriginal vibes, good food, excellent views looking down on the city at night, and occasional musical performances.
This means that you can find people pushing strollers, running, rollerblading, walking, etc. Also, let’s not kid ourselves either, sometimes you’ll find motorized scooters and other types of e-bikes on these as well. ” The grass gave way to nothing and I soon found myself doing some sort of air walk. To say you're prepared for something like this would be a lie. I can't say whether this is the same type of experience for anyone that does paragliding but you go from paying to suiting up and go. Like some luck in the draw, Chantelle was picked to go first.
Public transportation is limited, which means you’ll almost certainly need to rent a motorbike. This can be difficult as a foreigner, as Taiwan has strict rules about renting scooters and officially you need a Taiwanese license. After finishing up all the Taitung tourist attractions I’ve mentioned in this post, you can continue south to Kenting. Once you’ve finally arrived at the Lisong Hot Springs, take plenty of time to admire the brilliant colors in the rock and soak your tired muscles in the springs.
The site was discovered when the train station was being built in the early 1980s. If you have some time to kill at the Taitung train station, Beinan Archaeological Site (卑南遺址) is pretty much the only Taitung attraction that is within easy walking distance from the train station. If you’re planning a road trip down the coast, also see my East Coast Taiwan road trip guide, Taroko Gorge guide, and recommended things to do in Hualien. Beinan Cultural Park is the largest prehistoric site in the country and is part of the National Museum of Prehistory. Following Highway 9 south along the coast from Taitung City, there’s an insanely long stretch of sand at Taimali (太麻里). Although it’s clearly visible from the highway, it’s surprisingly difficult to get down to it. Xiaoyeliu is the first noteworthy stop when heading north on Highway 11, about 10 minutes’ drive north of Taitung city.
Coming to Vietnam, you can easily hear a group of people raising their glasses and yelling as loud as possible “1,2,3 DZO”, which means “1,2,3 cheers”. So if you travel to Vietnam and meet the locals, it’s often a sign of friendship when offered a small shot of rice wine. If you love it and know that you will miss the Vietnamese cheering culture, you certainly should note this traditional alcohol in the list of “Things to buy in Vietnam”. I don’t have a specific place to recommend for where to buy a bike, but yes, I think it will be easy for you to find a place to buy a bike for cheap. There are bike shops and little bike rental places all over the island.

Вторник, 31 Января 2023 г. 21:11 (ссылка)

(We had many doubtful moments and almost attempted to turn around.) But the nocturne view of the lighted city below and glowing moon in the sky makes the adventure so worthwhile. These outdoor arts villages frequently host live performances, concerts, and handmade markets. It is one of the most beautiful scenic spots on the East Coast. Capture the views with the bridge from afar on your camera . Surrounded by the coral reef, the island features lush greenery and excavated geological landscapes.
Once you start looking, you’ll often find Balinese as well as Thai furniture and carvings – like these statues. Keep your eyes open for a Pomelo shop – they’re a beloved Thai fashion brand with pretty work-wear, exercise gear and dressy basics, at similar prices to Zara. Last but not least, do 台東蛋捲 bring home a few tubes of Perfect Whip Foaming Cleanser. I bought some at NT99 per tube (S$4.30) which is way way cheaper than those retailing in Singapore. Hey guys, if you are visiting Taiwan soon, take a look at this Taiwan must-buy list which I’ve gathered after a solo trip to Taiwan.

The film tells a complicated relationship between a mother and her daughter, and won the Best Screenwriter and Best Actress awards at the Golden Horse Awards in 2004. The Moonlight Inn is a small Japanese-style wooden structure. The first floor is an artistic exhibition space called "The Banshee Painting and Calligraphy Gallery", which sells coffee and some artists' works. The movie was filmed on the second floor, and the room remains the same as that in the movie so that every fan can see the familiar scenes from the movie in person. Occasionally, the teachers from Taitung University will bring graduate students for an outdoor Taiwan Film Research class here. Other famous markets in Khao Lak that will give you the true taste of shopping in Thailand are Khao Lak Centre Point Bazaar and shops that offer tailor-made clothing.
You can get here from Taitung City on one of the buses that ply the coast, such as 8101, but the ride will take just over 2 hours . You can also visit Sanxiantai on this day tour from Taitung. Note that these attractions are rather spread out, and it’s not always easy to find a taxi in Taitung city, nor is the public transportation very convenient. Therefore, I recommend renting a scooter or bicycle in front of the train station to get around.
The bike ride back to Taitung was a good one and I didn’t want it to end. I knew that this would be my last bit of cycling in Taiwan. Taitung has a tropical monsoon climate, with a wet season from May to October, a dry season from November to April, and consistently very warm to hot temperatures with high humidity. The highest record of temperature of Taiwan was recorded in Taitung on May 9, 2004, with temperatures peaking above 40 degrees Celsius for the first time in Taiwan's recorded history.

To help protect yourself from the hot and humid weather in the same way that the Thai locals do, head to a market and pick up a parasol. Yes, there’s tourist tat in abundance and Singha singlets to be found everywhere. Though you’ll probably want to bring the bulk of your clothing from home – if you need to fill in a gap – or really need fake CK boxers – it’s easily done.
[Reporter Liao Xueru/Hsinchu Report] The Leofoo Village Theme Amusement Park in Hsinchu County had a sharp drop in the number of visitors last year due to the impact of the epidemic. This Amis restaurant located in the Malan section of town provides a taste of aboriginal food not too far from the center of the city. It is set up groups so once again bring friends or family. Five-hole Cave is located in the north of Lanyu Township. The first cave is called "vaRai no volai," which means the home of snakes. The third cave is called "sumo cave," because people in Yeyou and Langdao would fight here to solve a conflict. The fifth cave is called "pangsangsadan," which is the place for old people to mash millets.
Upon acceptance of the application, the Host will share a video of the studio space and will arrange a preliminary interview. When both parties agree to all arrangements, the resident must deposit in advance the cost of the rental of the living working space) . The resident may use the house scooter during the residency at no extra cost. No other use is permitted for the studio than residence and personal work of the resident. During their stay the resident will have the chance to visit local cafes and artists studios.
It is a smart amalgamation of many lanes and markets in Bangkok. Thais like to group their stores so as to ease the customer’s shopping experience. Visit this one big flea market and you would not need to go elsewhere for shopping.

Many of the performers are aboriginal, but the vibe is definitely more hip and modern than traditional. The most famous attraction on the archaeological grounds is the collection of “Moon Pillars” (labeled 卑南文化月形石柱 on GoogleMaps). You can reach these in less than 10 minutes on foot from the train station.
To start your search for Asian collector’s items, head at the Jade Market located at Wen Xin Road and Taichung Port Road, which is open only during Fridays to Sundays. You can buy custom-made necklaces here where you string jade charms into your own design. Looking further, you can see various Buddhist delights, teapots and other antique arts. If you have the luxury of time, then definitely spend a few days more at some of the islands. You get to experience Taiwan without all the cars zipping around everywhere you go.

The 2023 Ultimate Guide to Taiwan

Вторник, 31 Января 2023 г. 21:10 (ссылка)

I wasn’t sure what they were at the time, but after doing some research on the Internet, I’m pretty sure they were marmots. When the marmots saw me on my bicycle, they took one good look at me and then dashed off into the bushes… never to be seen again. One of my favorite places to work was at this Tao temple on the hill just a short distance from my hotel.
Again, like Gap, you’ll find a store in every mall in Thailand. To avoid getting fake products, read the labels carefully to ensure the ceramic have 雪Q餅 been heated under high temperature and function as a water-absorbent coaster. Such coasters typically come individually wrapped in brown hard paper.

The outdoor patio features impressive views looking down on Taitung, especially at night. If you continue following winding Dongli Road past it, the views become even more dramatic. The best way to access the park is Bo’ai Road, which is right across from the Railway Village.
You’ll need to buy bicycle ticket if you choose this method. Each municipality and county has different rates for these bike rentals. Check the YouBike YouBike Website for up-to-date information on rental rates, docking station locations and more. When returning the bike, choose an empty dock with a blue light. The blue light will start to blink and make beeping sounds when the bike is securely locked into the dock. Taipei Cycling Map – This cycling map is now over 11 years old and much of the infrastructure has likely improved since its publishing, but can be a useful preliminary bike trip planning tool.
They’ve also been building out a few day-trip and overnight bicycle tours across the island. Local tour operator offering custom and fully-supported and guided cycling tours of Taiwan. They feature an epic 13-day ‘Challenge and Adventure’ tour that explores the entire island and then some.

Taitung Night Market (台東觀光夜市) sets up on the street in front of the Sheraton Hotel, 5 minutes’ walk from Railway Village, but only from Thursday to Saturday. The even smaller Siwei Night Market (四維夜市) is held on Sundays only near Taitung Forest Park. You can get to Taitung Forest Park by taking Taiwan Tourism’s shuttle bus from Taitung train station. If you want to rent a bicycle, there are a few shops near the park entrance, such as 天祥自行車行, which I’ve pinned on the map at the top of this article. In this article, I’m going to introduce my favorite things to do in Taitung, based on multiple visits over the last 15 years.
There are several activities to do there such as trekking and biking, and you can also do paragliding or arrange for a hot air balloon ride . The views are phenomenal and offer stunning scenery, this part of Taiwan definitively is the most beautiful one. Going on a hot air balloon ride over the area is one of the best things to in Taitung. Probably the most famous park in Taitung, Taitung Forest Park is a nice place to go for a stroll and a top tourist spot.

It offers all the things a hotel of its stature should including spa and free gym. In the course of this display a man wearing nothing more than a pair of shorts and a face mask stands upon a sedan chair while onlookers lob strings of lit firecrackers at him. The main part of Taitung is small and compact enough to make walking a pleasant way to explore the city.
Compared with last year's 6-day Spring Festival holiday, it has increased by about 4.1 times, and the overall revenue has opened a red plate. Fantastic resource featuring dozens of preferred cycling routes from a longtime cyclist in Taiwan. Some of the route details may be out of date, so we encourage, as always, to do your own research and make sure the route you choose is safe and suitable.
Krabi Walking Street or Krabi Night Market is the place where local artisans come from South Thailand to showcase their talents. Mouthwatering food options and a wide variety of Thai products from over 50 stalls is what makes Krabi Night Market special. Go shopping in Asiatique, the riverfront to witness the glorious combination of a night bazaar and a mall.

The products showcase typical Thai ingredients like lemongrass, jasmine, mango, rose and coconut. These silk scarves are the perfect souvenir gift to get for family and friends, especially if you have no idea what to get them and would like to get something practical. I particularly like the ones from Jim Thompson – which by the way, is another story in itself with his strange disappearance. A few more famous Taitung attractions lie to the south of Taitung City.

Thus, tourists’ pro-environmental behavior could be regarded as an advocacy for environmental protection. As Steg and Vlek mentioned, tourists’ consumption behavior affects the climate and environment because tourists’ behavior is the primary source of environmental problems. In addition, high-quality environmental and climatic conditions can also bring people a more comfortable living environment . From a moral point of view, well-being should not be obtained through selfish behavior. If consumption activities can promote the protection of the natural environment, it may affect their well-being .

This is one of the souvenirs that impress tourists the most when traveling to Thailand. Wooden carvings may seem like a heavy product to add to the list of things you should buy while traveling in Thailand, but in Bangkok you can find some of the most beautiful wood carving crafts. From simple pieces of wood, passing through the hands of Thai artisans, they become an extremely unique and distinctive work of art, sculpted in many different shapes.
