A Checkerboard -плед |
Quilting OCD. It's a thing according to my kids. I love closely spaced quilting lines on my quilts (as opposed to having large un-quilted areas) and I really went to town on this one. The 1 1/4 inch squares have all been well and truly quilted and the result is a textured surface that draws in both your eye and hand. There are vertical, horizontal and diagonal edge to edge lines. No ditch stitching this time. My machine played so nice. All night long! I think it may have overheard my threats of abandonment.
For the back of the quilt I have chosen a single floral fabric - Shasta Daisy in Pink from the Glamping Collection for Moda Fabrics - which, if I had to pick 10 favorite fabrics from 2013, then this fabric would be right up there.
A signature black and white stripe binding completes this quilt. In fear of being boring there were other fabrics auditioned for binding but there was no fabric that made quite this statement.
I am already planning my next Checkerboard/Postage Stamp Quilt; cutting and saving strips of fabric as I work on other quilts and projects, so that hopefully later this year I will be ready to start working on another. The same size squares, but even more of them!
