Point is that turning into the wolf was extremely painful and every full moon was a torture for them and then here comes the original hybrid Klaus and starts to turning all of them into hybrids that means that now they can turn into wolfs only when they want to, no influence of the full moon.
But after it they are sired to Klaus - sired means doing whatever he wants because of the strong feeling of grateful for saving them from pain
And when it comes too far the leader group have decided to break the sire bond

And here is why I'm telling you everything about it

Breaking the sire bond means turning into the wolf thousands of times and going through the hell before it's just not painful anymore and so you don't need to feel grateful, you are free

That's also happens in real life. We just going through this, all the memories and hopes and other stuff, bleeding and agonizing until it's just not painful anymore
