* 100 percent mercerized cotton sport weight yarn (340 yds/150g per ball): 2 balls white with pink
* Size 1 (2.25mm) straight and 16-inch circular needles
* Size 2 (2.75mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
* 3 1/2 yds (3/8-inch) grosgrain ribbon
* 1 1/4 yds floral-braid trim

Gauge
21 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st with larger needles

Pattern Stitches
Openwork Pattern (multiple of 7 sts + 1)
Rows 1 and 5 (RS): K1, *yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, rep from * across.
Rows 2, 4 and 6: Purl.
Row 3: K1, *k2tog, yo, k2, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, kl, rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1-6 for pat.
Jacket
Back
With larger needles, cast on 50 (57) sts.
Rows 1-7: Knit.
Row 8: Purl.
Work 6 rows of Openwork pat.
Change to St st and work even for 6 (8) rows.
Shape armholes
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. (44, 51 sts)
Row 1: Sl 1, k1, psso, k to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 2: Purl.
[Rep Rows 1-2] 3 (4) times. (36, 41 sts)
Work even for 4 (6) rows.
Begin neck shaping
Row 1: K12 (14), sl remaining sts to holder.
Row 2: Purl.
Bind off at neck edge 3 sts once, then 2 sts once.
Work even for 4 (8) rows.
Bind off remaining 7 (9) sts.
Sl sts from holder to needle and join yarn at right neck edge.
Bind off 12 (13) sts, k to end of row. (12, 14 sts)
Left neck shaping
Work as for right side of neck, reversing shaping.
Right Front
With larger needles, cast on 27 (30) sts.
Rows 1-7: Knit.
Row 8 (WS): P to last 5 sts, k5.

Left Front
Work as for right front, reversing shaping.
Sleeve
With larger needles, cast on 31 (37) sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.
Row 5: K1, *k2tog, k1, rep from * across. (21, 25 sts)
Work even in St st for 3 rows.
Row 9: K in front and back of first st, *[k, p, k] in next st, k in front and back of each of next 2 sts *, rep from * to * 5 (6) more times, [k, p, k] in next st, k in front and back of last st. (49, 58 sts)
Work even in St st for 3 rows.
Row 13: K4 (1), *yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, rep from * across, end last rep k3 (1).
Rows 14 and 16: Purl.
Row 15: K4 (1), *k2tog, yo, k2, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, rep from * across, end last rep k3 (1).
Rows 17 and 18: Rep Rows 13 and 14.
Change to St st and work even for 2 (4) rows.
Shape sleeve cap
Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows.
Row 3: Sl 1, k1, psso, k to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 4: Purl.
[Rep Rows 3 and 4] 6 (8) times. (29, 34 sts)
Next Row: Bind off 2 sts, knit across. 27 (32) sts
Next Row: Bind off 2 sts, p3tog across. 9 (11) sts
Bind off remaining 9 (11) sts.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams.
Neck Edging
With RS facing and smaller needles, pick up and k 20 (24) sts along right neck, 31 (37) sts across back, and 20 (24) sts along left neck. (71, 85 sts)
Knit 1 row.
Rows 2 and 3: Sl 1, k1, psso, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Bind off, dec 1 st at beg and end of row.
Sew sleeves to armholes.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
With matching thread, sew braid trim around sleeve next to garter st, tucking in ends of trim.
Ties
Sew one 12-inch piece of ribbon to each side of jacket at neck below garter st. Sew small section of trim over top of ribbon where it is sewn to jacket.
Gown
Back
With larger needles, cast on 85 (99) sts. Knit 6 rows.
Change to St st and work even for 6 rows. Work 6 rows of Openwork pat.
Work even in St st until back measures 9 3/4 (11 1/2) inches, ending with a WS row.
Gathering row: K1, [k2tog] 20 (23) times. K3 (5), [k2tog] to last st, k1. (45, 53 sts)
Purl 1 row.
Eyelet row: K2 (3), *yo, k2tog, k1, rep from * across, end last rep k1 (2).
(14, 16 eyelet holes)
Purl 1 row.
Set up pat: K1 (2), *p1, k5, rep from * across, end last rep p1, k1 (2).
Work even in Rib pat for 3 (5) more rows.
Begin armhole shaping
Bind off at arm each edge, [3 sts] once, then [2 sts] once, and [1 st] once (twice). (33, 39 sts)
Work even in Rib pat for 8 (10) rows.
Shape left side of neck
Next row: K11 (13), sl remaining sts to holder.
Bind off at neck edge [3 sts] once, [2 sts] once, [1 st] once. (5, 7 sts)
Work even in Rib pat for 10 (12) rows. Bind off remaining sts.
Sl sts from holder to needle. With RS facing, join yarn at right neck edge.
Bind off 11 (13) sts, work in Rib pat to end of row.
Work left side of neck as for right, reversing shaping.
Front
Work as for back through Gathering row. Purl 1 row.
Eyelet row: K4, [yo k2tog, k1] 6 (7) times, k2 (4), [yo, k2tog, k1] 6 (7) times, k3. (12, 14 eyelet holes).
Work as for back until armhole shaping has been completed. (33, 39 sts)
Work even in Rib pat for 4 (6) rows.
Shape front sides of neck as for back, then work even until armholes measure same as for back.
Finishing
Sew shoulder seams.
Neck Edging
Beg at right shoulder with smaller circular needles and RS facing, pick up and k 48 (56) sts around front of neck opening, and 40 (46) sts around back of neck opening. (88, 102 sts)
Join, pm between first and last st. Work in k1, p1 rib for 3 rows. Bind off in rib.
Armhole Edging
Beg at underarm with smaller needles and RS facing, pick up and k 6 (71) sts around armhole. Work in k1, p1 rib for 3 rows. Bind off in pat.
Rep for other arm opening.
Sew side seams.
With matching thread, sew small section of braid trim to front neckline
Cut a 45-inch piece of ribbon. Beg at center front, thread ribbon through eyelet holes. Tie into bow.
Bonnet
Brim
With larger needles, cast on 59 (68) sts.
Rows 1-7: Knit.
Row 8 and all WS rows: Purl.
Row 9: K2 (3), *yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, rep from * across, end last rep k1 (2).
Row 11: K2 (3), *k2 tog, yo, k2, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, rep from * across, end last rep k1 (2).
Row 13: Rep Row 9.
Row 15: Knit.
Row 16: Purl.
Work even in garter st for 7 rows. Mark last row to aid in turning brim.
Crown and Sides
Note: Right side of brim is wrong side of crown.
Knit 1 row, purl 1 row.
Work even in St st until bonnet measures 4 1/2 (5 1/4) inches from beg of crown, ending with a p row.
Back
Bind off 20 (23) sts at beg of next 2 rows. (19, 22 sts)
Continuing in St st, [dec 1 st each side every 6th row] 3 (4) times. (13, 14 sts)
Work even until back measures 3 1/2 (4 1/4) inches, ending with a p row.
Bind off all sts.
Sew sides of back section to bound-off rows.
Neck Band
Fold back brim. With smaller straight needles and RS facing, pick up and k 48 (56) sts evenly around neck edge, working through both thicknesses at brim.
Knit 5 rows. Bind off.
With matching thread, sew braid trim between openwork design and garter st rows nearest cap edge.
Cut two 12-inch pieces of ribbon. Sew to bonnet at neck for ties.
Sew a small section of trim on top of ribbon where it is sewn to bonnet.
Bootees
Beg at ankle with larger needles, cast on 28 (32) sts.
Knit 4 rows.
Row 5: K4 (5), [k2tog, k7 (8)] twice, k2tog, k4 (5). (25, 29 sts) Work in St st for 3 rows.
Eyelet row: K1, [yo, k2tog] across.
Purl 1 row.
Instep
Row 1: K8 (9 sts) and place on holder, k9 (11), place remaining 8 (9) sts on 2nd holder. Work in St st on center sts only for 3 rows.
Row 5: K2 (3), k2tog, yo, k1, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k2 (3).
Rows 6, 8 and 10: Purl.
Row 7: K2 (3), yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, k2 (3).
Row 9: Rep Row 5.
Work in St st for 4 rows.
Next row: Sl 1, k1, psso, k5 (7), k2tog. (7, 9 sts)
Row 2: Sl 1, p1, psso, p3 (5), p2tog.
Sl remaining 5 (7) sts to holder for toe, cut yarn.
Sides
With RS facing, sl sts from first holder to needle, join yarn. Pick up and k 10 (12) sts along first side of instep, k across 5 (7) sts of toe, pick up and k 10 (12) sts along 2nd side of instep, k across sts of 2nd holder. (41, 49 sts)
Work even in garter st for 11 (13) rows. Bind off.
Finishing
Sew sole and back in one continuous seam.
Cut two 15-inch pieces of ribbon. Thread one piece through eyelet holes of each bootee. Sew small section of braid trim to instep near toe.
