Again touring through Germany - your tour What Lies Beneath took place six months ago and yet you fill the halls. Your fans can be happy that they can see you in such short intervals. Are you still a little excited when you go out on tour?
Before the new tour I work very hard and I am still excited when I can show off again with my band. During the short time a lot happened in my career and as an artist I obviously need to do what I like, what I love and this is music. I am so happy and pleased that I have also continuing international career, and that I get so much love and feedback from my fans.
What Lies Beneath is your third solo album. It is easier for you to express as an artist, find your distinctive music when none of your band members do not approve objections or suggestions, or is it harder to work like this.
I would recommend to appoint What Lies Beneath as my second solo album since Christmas album, "Breath from heaven" counts as part of my multiple previous projects. Freedom, which I have now as an artist, is in any case a remarkable gift. I found a great loyal people who are now working with me and who respect me and believe me. I can ideas and values share with them, and get honest answers, but not always what I want to hear. But that's not important. That's what is nice about respect and trust. I can completely and fully enjoy my art, because I feel that I will never be left alone. Musicians involved on my album have prepared a magnificent arrangements and their contribution to my songs is simply stunning. Without the cooperation of guys my songs would not qualitatively be as good as they are on finished albums. And when I gave up a permanent band and work with hired musicians, I have to say that they are very close to me and my music and have a great influence on my art.
When you do music today, it's not as a part of the band. Today you're the boss. In what respect this work changed you?
It's just different than the times when I used to be a member of the band. But to be honest, I do not feel like among musicians as a boss. But there were also times when I had to make unpleasant decisions. But in this I am not really different from others. Everyone must make difficult decisions at some point in their lives.
Each of the musicians who works with me, understands the fact that I behave in such manner as the situation requires - whether on tour or in the studio. They have been paid and do the best to support me. They are simply magnificent, and together we have a nice team. I write most of my songs myself but also with other composers. I have never done this with the band. This is undoubtedly very fun to write the first drafts of song and then take the entire process to complete it. At the end this song is really "my baby". It makes me very happy and fulfills me to sing my very own songs. And I have feeling that I'm singing better than ever.
Many of those who write songs are afraid of blank sheet of paper. As a solo artist you started to write your own songs. What inspires you? Can you tell what tricks you have when you see that you just do not have inspiration?
When I write music, I first think about music and then the lyrics. This way the song where I understand its contents can be born. From the begining of the development I must have a precise idea of exactly what I want to write and express. It does not matter whether or not I have good ideas for lyrics that day. I don't want to stress. The next day, everything looks completely different. When someone pushes the I cannot be creative. Being under pressure means bad feelings, and that nobody needs. It is a creative work. Because I haven't been professional composer, I have no fear of blank sheet. Everything is possible if you feel well.
You have a long musical experience in the music business. Is there anything you would like to try or are you absolutely sure that you have found your style and want to keep it this way? Do you feel that you already enshrined?
Let's stay in the picture: I still feel I'm on the high seas and really like it and I would like to sail the open sea. I never let myself fit in any category since I discovered classic as well as rock in my working area. Although I was very entertained by breaking musical laws. But I find it very entertaining to go with my music, because you say that nobody can be perfect at what he does. Every time there are some people who are a little better. With this experience, I work hard and like to take on new challenges. And I am very curious what I can achieve with my music.
