Like most snacks and sweets you can buy here it's also great for eating with Taiwanese oolong tea. They're particularly known for producing young aged whisky with similar profiles to that twice their age made in Scotland, due to the hot climate allowing for faster maturation. They also match perfectly with a cup of freshly brewed oolong tea and make for a wonderful pair of souvenirs to bring back either for yourself or as gifts.
A small shop with an attractive name, Seaweed has fresh and well-done versions of local favorites such as noodles, light soup and dumplings. The shop’s namesake also features in many of the dishes. Drone view of Taitung CityBeing one of the southernmost cities in Taiwan, Taitung is at about the same 必買特產 latitude as Hong Kong or Honolulu. In spite of its being one of the poorest cities in Taiwan, it has a rich aboriginal history outside of Chinese influence that you can’t find in places like Taipei in the North. This region was the last of Taiwan’s major areas to be colonized by Chinese immigrants.

The place is interesting to visit, and everyone can touch the local way of life and culture. There is mostly a wide selection of food that should be chosen more carefully. Unfortunately, these markets over time are losing their authenticity as they start to become more of a tourist destination, and this contributes to losing the emotion of being there. The largest and most popular night market in the city and located central to many attractions and hotels. It has a few unique items compared to other night markets such as the egg pretzel while having some of the mainstays of the Taiwan night market scene .
Yoshidia has also gone ahead and partnered with beer manufacturer, LE BLE D’OR, and several Taitung local food operators to make limited-edition flavors. MUJI has made some incredible Taitung-branded flavored brews using Valencia oranges from Donghe, and Taitung’s famous pink flowers, roselles, from the South Link. It was only through this experience, was I even made aware of the Amis wooden percussion repertoire.
The number one Bulgarian souvenir is undoubtedly rose oil or other natural cosmetics that use rose oil. Bulgaria is the largest producer of rose oil in the world, and Bulgarian rose oil is widely considered to be some of the highest quality stuff around. I'm an aspiring world traveler, who moved across the Pacific Ocean twice. After leaving my PR career, I'm currently exploring Asia from Taiwan and learning Chinese. Follow my journey as I will share my travel experiences, tips & tricks and cultural insights.

There is nothing I love more after a trip than savouring a cup of coffee my first morning home and enjoying some (still fresh!) baked goods picked up last minute from a local bakery abroad. I came upon Sandholt Bakery on my first visit, and made a point to head back on my next trip. While some volcanic rock jewelery can be tacky, I loved the elegant designs at Gullkunst Helgu.
The Tao are famous for their Flying Fish Festival, partially underground houses, and beautiful hand-carved traditional canoes. Nearby, seafood lovers can head to Fugang Fish Harbor to enjoy one of the harborside seafood restaurants. This is also where ferries depart for Green Island (see “Offshore Islands of Taitung” section below). Lisong Hot Spring (栗松溫泉) is one of the most beautiful wild hot springs in Taiwan. The spring is known for its vibrant green and yellow colors painting the cliff from which it seeps down into riverside pools. Luye (鹿野) is one of my favorite places to spend the night along Highway 9.

Visit these articles to learn more about both Japanese masks and the yokai that inspire many of them. Geta sandals are the traditional Japanese sandals most commonly paired with kimono and yukata. Made from one piece of wood, the sandal was originally designed to raise the wearer from the ground to keep their hems from getting muddy. These wooden men’s geta sandals, crafted in Oita prefecture, are made from cedar wood which is a light wood with good breathability. They can take a little getting used to but geta sandals are a unique shoe option and a great souvenir choice. Men’s kimono jackets are a stylish way to infuse your wardrobe with that timeless Japanese aesthetic.
It’s a small place and they have posted rules about how long you are permitted to stay, the minimum order, etc. One cool thing is that they have a special place for a person who is eating solo. Take #1 has a crescent shaped seating nook for a single.
Nice place to snap some nice photos for memories but generally the prices of items here are on the steep side. You can even take some beautiful photos if you're in a hurry, but be prepared for some sun exposure. There is a lovely park and area outside of the museum to walk and relax and take pictures. You can but tickets to the permanent exhibition, the temporary exhibition or a combined ticket for both. Everything is clearly labeled and there is a mix of different things to see.
A very important thing you should know is that the new Taitung train station is not downtown. It takes roughly 15 minutes to travel by bus or taxi between Taitung train station and the downtown area, which is kind of an annoyance. There is not much interesting around the new station, apart from the BeiBBBBBB Museum. Taitung’s food offerings are various thanks to the heavy influence of a number of indigenous specialties.

Although it may appear to be a maze, this location is actually ideal for shopping and exploring due to the abundance of things to see and purchase.
