Five Mexican states totaling 32 people are still listed as being on level 4 of alert in the last travel safety scale released by the United States government, which means that traveling is not advised, as of October 20, 2022.

The famous Acapulco beach resort, which is located in the state of Guerrero and is a favorite destination of businessmen, Hollywood celebrities like Johnny Weissmuller, and spring breakers, is one of the places that is most indicative of the evolution of violence in
Mexico. In this location, more than 70 homicides were recorded in just the first month of 2023.
Notwithstanding the high number of murders, Acapulco remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, especially among residents of the capital city of Mexico who are used to seeing federal police officers in parks and recreational areas. In their advantage, the hotel owners in this area have tried to cooperate with the authorities to improve security inside their buildings.
According to data from the Secretariariado Ejecutivo of the National Security System, there were 743 homicides in the entire country from January to October of last year, 66% more than the previous year.
But, according to data from the Asociación de Hoteleros de Colima, which boasts gentle beaches and a privileged climate, the last summer season was barren in December and reached 95% occupancy.
