When sticking a single thread of some length, glue the tip and weight it down, then pull straight, lightly glue the underside and press into place.
STATIONERY, GIFT TAGS AND KEY RINGS

Flower: ring – 12P, cl.
Leave about 5⁄8 in (1.5cm) thread for stalk.
Leaves: ring – 25ds, cl.
Make two leaves.

Ring – each petal 6ds, (p, 2ds) x 5, 4ds, cl.
Work five, six, or even seven petals, joining first and last p each time.

Make a simple chain of a suitable length and, if required, fold the top over when sticking into place.

Head: ring – 10ds, cl.
Body: ring – 1ds, 2P [1in (2.5cm)], 10ds, 2P [1in (2.5cm)], cl.
Tie ends, cut picots for legs and bend with your thumb nail.
SMALL CARDS AND PAPERWEIGHTS

Each flower: ring – 4ds, 3p, 4ds, cl. Leave long thread for stalk.
For further flowers, work two rings with long thread between them, and tie onto first thread. More can be added in the same way.
Note: This pattern can be adapted to represent grass or oats by making rings of 6ds, p, 6ds, cl.
