JUST IN CASE A CHILL BLOWS
IN, A SHAWL IS AN EVER-USEFUL
ACCESSORY TO HAVE AT HAND.
WRAP THIS ONE AROUND YOUR
SHOULDERS TO WARM UP AND
ADD A CONFIDENT, GRAPHIC
STATEMENT TO YOUR LOOK.
FINISHED SIZE
|
Shawl measures about 74" (188 cm) wide along top edge and 34" (86.4 cm) tall (excluding fringe).
YARN
Worsted weight (#4 Medium). Shown here: Berroco Vintage (52% acrylic, 40% wool, 8% nylon; 218 yd [199 m]/31⁄2 oz [100 g]): #5116 Dove (A) and #5182 Black Currant (B), 2 skeins each.
HOOK
Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm).
Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
NOTIONS
Stitch markers.
GAUGE
16 sc blo and 12 rows = 4" (10 cm).
NOTES
• You will always start with A and carry the accent color.
• Leave a 6" (15 cm) tail at the beginning and end of each row in each color. These tails will become the fringe.
• Always crochet on the right side of your work, from right to left.
• Start each row with a slipknot on your hook.
• Use stitch markers between the chart repeats.
• The last stitch of every row is left unworked. This decrease gives the shawl its triangular shape.
