Caliban - The Awakening (2007)

"Caliban, a metalcore/hardcore-band, was formed in Germany in 1997 under the name Never Again. After 6 months of playing together, the band recorded their first two songs for a compilation, which was never released. The songs were sent to several record labels, and Lifeforce Records was the first to offer the band a record deal. The band's first self-titled MCD came out in the summer of 1998. To promote the CD, Caliban played many shows all over Europe and a few support shows for bands like Morning Again, Earth Crisis, and Cro-Mags.

After their European tour, in 1999 Caliban entered the studio to record their first full-length CD, entitled Small Boy and a Grey Heaven. The CD received favorable reviews in many big zines and many smaller hardcore and metal zines. The band was described as a mixture of Slayer, Poison the Well, and Hatebreed.

Vent came out in April 2001. Vent was released by Imperium Records and by Howling-Bull Records in Japan. Shortly after the release, Caliban was offered the opportunity to tour Japan to play the Beast-Feast 2001 in the Yokohama Arena, sharing stage with bands including Slayer, Pantera, Machine Head, Biohazard, and Morbid Angel. The Japan trip was followed by a US tour with Bloodjinn, which was interrupted by the September 11, 2001 attacks.

In August 2002 Caliban recorded their third official release Shadow Hearts. This record was more melodic and harmonic than its predecessors. In 2004 the band got a record deal with Roadrunner Records and started to record their fourth Album The Opposite From Within alongside famous producer Andy Sneap.

In July 2005 the Band again made a record with their friends from Heaven Shall Burn called The Split Programm II.

In February 2006 the Band released the album The Undying Darkness. It was produced by Anders Friden, the vocalist of In Flames.

According to the bands myspace, they're working on a new album. This album is entitled ''The Awakening'', They will use 7 string guitars and less clean vocals in their new material. There will be either 12 or 13 songs on the new album, with 4 or 5 of them with clean vocals. Recording will start in January and a release is set for summer."

Hollywood Undead

"Hollywood Undead are a 6 piece hip-hop group from Hollywood. Their style is hard to define, where they cross hip-hop with metal and even a bit of hardcore.

They began as a two man project: J-Dog and Tha Producer. They first added their songs to MySpace and were a huge hit on the website, reaching number one in the bands in just one week, and even being featured in the MySpace compilation album with the song "No. 5".

The band now consists of 6 members: J Dog, Da Kurlzzz, Charlie Scene, Tha Producer, Funny Man and The Server.

Former band member Shady Jeff left the band in late 2005.

Despite being credited to many stupid online songs such as "Emo Kid" (A.K.A. "The Emo Song" Or "I must be emo"), they have only recorded the following songs:

The Natives, No. 5, My Black Dahlia, Turn Off The Lights (With Jeffree Star), Scene for Dummies, Christmas in Hollywood, The Kids, Knife Called Lust, Bottle and Gun, and The Loss.

They are signed to MySpace/Interscope records, but none of their songs have ever been released commercially. Their first album is due out May of 2007, exactly release date is still unknown.

On November 29, 2006 Shady Jeff was in a car accident, many rumors claiming that the crash was fatal, but Shady Jeff lives. I had a talk with Hollywood undead on myspace, (their real profile, not a fake ;)) a nice long talk with Charlie Scene, Shady Jeff is still alive."

From Autumn to Ashes - Holding a Wolf by the Ears (2007)

From Autumn to Ashes or FATA is a post hardcore/metalcore band from Long Island, NY. The band mixes melody with hardcore styles, and their earlier albums featured a unique dual vocal style between frontman Benjamin Perri and drummer Francis Mark. This style was very innovative at the time and earned the band widespread praise. FATA's first two albums also featured Melanie Wills of One True Thing on vocals.

Following their 2000 EP Sin, Sorrow and Sadness, their debut full-length album Too Bad You're Beautiful was released on Ferret Records in August 2001. The unique blend of melodic hardcore and innovative vocals executed on this album quickly made the band an underground success.

The bands second album The Fiction We Live, was released in September 2003 and was the first to be released on their current label Vagrant Records. Although the album retained the intricate dual vocal style that earned the group success in the first place, the overall sound became more melodic than its predecessor, featuring a larger focus on Fran Mark's singing presence. Following the albums release, the band made videos for 'The After Dinner Payback' which featured on the 'Freddy vs Jason' soundtrack, and also 'Lilacs and Lolita' and 'Milligram Smile'.
This album also marked the final appearances of guitarist Scott Gross and bassist Mike Pilato.

Featuring a new lineup of Benjamin Perri (vocals), Brian Deneeve (guitar, piano, backing vocals) and Francis Mark (drums, vocals) alongside new members Jon Cox (guitar) and Josh Newton (bass, backing vocals), Abandon Your Friends was released on Vagrant in August 2005. Due to problems with vocalist Ben and his contributions to the band, this album features an increased focus on drummer/vocalist Fran Mark, and an overall lighter approach, marking a slight departure from the traditional FATA sound. The band made a video for 'Where Do You Draw The Line' following the albums release.

Vocalist Ben Perri recently left the band, according to a MySpace blog posted on December 5th, 2006. The band will continue without him, with Francis Mark on full vocal duties. Jon Cox (guitar) also left the band sometime before recording sessions in November 2006, leaving a lineup of Fran Mark (vocals and drums), Brian Deneeve (guitars) and Josh Newton (bass) to record the new album as a three piece. However, for live purposes, Fran has now chosen to front the band.

The current lineup is;
Francis Mark - Lead Vocals
Brian Deneeve - Guitar & Vocals
Josh Newton - Bass & Vocals
Rob Lauritson - Guitar
Jeff Gretz - Drums

The limited edition EP These Speakers Don't Always Tell The Truth was released as a Hot Topic exclusive on March 13th, 2007, featuring 2 tracks from the brand new album, Holding A Wolf By The Ears, released on April 10th, 2007.
