International bestselling author Robert Bryndza was born in Lowestoft, in the United Kingdom, and he lived for nearly ten years in Brockley in South London. he attended Aberystwyth University, and the Guildford School of Acting, before pursuing an acting career for a number of years. He also lived in the US and Canada before settling into his permanent address in Slovakia with his Slovak husband Ján.
They visited Slovakia for holidays in 2010 and loved it so much that they made it their permanent country of residence.
He initially trained to become an actor, but in his mid-twenties, he got the writing bug, swiftly changed gears, and started writing novels after attending the Edinburgh Festival with a play he had previously written.
The first of Robert Bryndza’s books was part of a romantic comedy series, Coco Pinchard. The Coco Pinchard series was self-published. It took him three years of trying to publish his first novel before he learned that self-publishing books was a thing. His first novel was self-published in 2012.
In 2016 he changed genres and started writing crime thriller novels, with the first book titled The Girl In The Ice, which became part of the detective Erika Foster series, the number one, multi-million-copy, bestselling series. It sold alone one million copies within five months, catapulting it to number one in the Amazon UK, USA, and Australian bestseller charts.
In an interview, author Robert Bryndza mentioned that the idea for The Girl in the Ice came to him several years ago while listening to a song by Kate Bush. He suddenly had a flash of standing on a frozen lake and seeing a girl’s face under the ice.
In 2019, a new Robert Bryndza book launched a series with Kate Marshall, a former London Metropolitan police detective who caught the Nine Elms serial killer years ago. Her tranquil life as a university lecturer is disrupted when a copycat killer emerges, forcing her to confront her past and fears in four books of the series.
Robert Bryndza is living with his husband Jan and two dogs and is working on his next novel.
