Living in the attic of my girlfriend's childhood home — Finally happy with how things look!

Вторник, 21 Августа 2012 г. 04:55 + в цитатник
Lanni, 23, living in Rochester, NY.

This is my current living space. My girlfriend and I are living in her childhood bedroom at her mom's house. It's not ideal, but it's allowing us to save enough money to get started on our own.

You may remember me (if you've been here for a few years!) — I used to post a bit when I was in college. I deleted my account when I graduated, but my old posts are still up if you'd like to take a gander!

On to the recent stuff!

Untitled
View of the "living area." The pink chair is my pride and joy — found it a few years ago on Craigslist.

Untitled
Bed. The prints above the bed were a first anniversary present from my girlfriend. The images are printed on old dictionary pages.

Untitled
Another view of the bed.

Untitled
My little side table. I love bird tchotchkes.

Untitled
The little shelf below my side table. Along with birds, I collect nesting dolls.

Untitled
I made this lamp for my girlfriend before we were dating. I found all the old slides in a house I was clearing out.

Untitled
Origami mobile!

Untitled
Some of our books. I literally have thousands, so these are just some of them, the rest are in storage.

Untitled
Looking from the bed across the room.

Untitled
The Closet-of-Doom (I'm 99% sure that hanger bar is going to break any day now) and our little faux vanity.

Untitled
Our desk. Well, really my desk, as I'm a fan of desk and the GF likes to set up on the bed. The chair was $3 at AmVets.

Untitled
View down the stairs a bit.

Untitled
Some stuff on the bookshelves.

Some stuff on the bookshelves.

Untitled
I love keys!

Untitled
View from the bottom of the stairs.

Untitled
I collect salt and pepper shakers as well.

Untitled
I put up this little clothes line to clip random things.

Untitled
We keep our socks and undies and stuff in those drawers. Our turtle Sandwich's tank sits on top.

Untitled
Sandwich! Our red-eared slider.

Untitled
Top of the desk.

Untitled
Little tree that I keep all my jewelry on. That little egg is where I keep my earrings ($1 at Goodwill!).

Untitled
View into the bathroom.

Untitled
Our vanity area.

Untitled
Rescued this mini piano from the side of the road. Some of the keys are broken, but it's still cute!

Untitled
View out the window. Nothing spectacular.

Untitled
I also collect globes. These are the small ones.

Untitled
Our sink.

Untitled
Brusha brusha brusha!

Untitled
View from the bathroom area.

Untitled
TV and stuff.

Untitled
More nesting dolls, more birds.

Untitled
Table next to the couch and chair.

Untitled
Hands down my favorite thrift find. It's a little records holder. $2 at AmVets!

Untitled
Cute table lamp, but we don't have any large enough tables, so it sits on the ground instead.

Untitled
Lit up!

Untitled
My girlfriend has little influence over our decor (MUHAHAHA), but she picked out the car pillow, and I like it!

Untitled
View of the desk and closet.

Untitled
My pink handbags and a view of the stairs.

Untitled
Another view of the top of the stairs.

Untitled
Found this awesome record player cabinet in a house I was cleaning out. (I realize that sounds like I am some sort of cat burglar, but in reality I assist my mom with cleaning out houses of people that have passed away to prepare for the estate sale—I get to take anything I can fit in my car!).

Untitled
Top of the faux vanity.

Untitled
Got the drawers from Goodwill for $.50. The Rubik's Cube tin was a gift from my little sister. The Keep Calm tin was a gift from my dad—I filled it with bandaids!

Untitled
Another view of the little piano.

Untitled
I bought this for my GF for Christmas last year. She's a biologist and a big fan of cephalopods.

Untitled
Itty bitty birdie salt and pepper shakers.

Untitled
We have very limited wall space (due to the slant of the ceilings), so we fill what we've got! The top photo was a print my GF gave me for my birthday a few years ago, the middle is a photo of us and her mom and aunt, and the bottom is a photo of my mom and her siblings.

Untitled
Some of my scarves.

Untitled
View of the bed from the top landing of the stairs.

Untitled
We have a clawfoot bathtub, but it's too awkward to take a bath in the middle of the bedroom, so we've filled it will pillows and manatee stuffed animals.

Untitled
The clawfoot tub. It still works, but we don't use it.

Untitled
I crammed the rest of my scarves in this cute leather suitcase from AmVets!

Thanks for looking!
