Black Butler Funimation English Dub, ten observations for disc one. I've already watched the first four episodes online so my thoughts on those have mostly gone by.

1. Still don't like Ciel's voice except when he yells. When he raises his voice or gets angry it's perfect, loses that breathy what-did-you-say-we-can-hardly-hear-you quality that bugs me so. Why can't it be like that all the time??

2. "'Bassy." OH I LIKE THAT SO MUCH BETTER THAN SEBBY. I was afraid it was going to be Sebby. Did not want.

3. "I'm afraid I charge for the juicy bits." "Skinflint!" Worth the entire dub just for that.

4. Ah, this is something I didn't catch in any version of subs! When Sebastian swears "by the moon," and Grell says not to swear by something so changeable. they're still doing the Romeo and Juliet exchange! "O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon." I don't think any version of the subs brought that home to me.

5. Sebastian and William together are so smooth, migod. I never thought they had history and I still don't, but in their exchange I swear the two of them could smell the chemistry and were tucking it away for later.

6. Also missed this until just now: when Ciel brings the dress to Madame Red in the church, he's acting as his father, echoing the words that she took as wooing, to do her this last kindness in his father's stead, now that he understands. Whatta gentleman.

7. I think I 'ship Ciel/Lau now, just a bit. Something about that exchange just after the funeral.

8. Angela's voice is perfect. It's elegant and high-class so she doesn't sound like a mere maid, and that's why Meirin flutters over her.

9. Barrymore, in his moment of passion, calls Angela, "My sweet darling angel." Heh.

10. Finny crying over the dog had me choking up. Aie.
