Violinist David Garrett brings his International Tour to South Florida!
Visionary violinist David Garrett has committed himself to a clearly defined goal: introducing young people to the classics and kindling enthusiasm for reputedly serious music. Combining classical elements with those of pop and rock as well as rhythm and blues, his electrifying spirit enthralls listeners of all ages.
By the time he was thirteen years old, the virtuoso violinist David Garrett had a classical music career that would make most artists of any age envious. A true child prodigy at age eight, he was being booked to play as a soloist in front of some of the world’s greatest orchestras, including the London Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Russian National Orchestra.
When he turned thirteen, he was signed to one of the most famous and prestigious classical music labels in the world as a solo artist. As a result, David has carved out a unique and wholly new artistic path, one that pays as much homage to Metallica as to Mozart.
Garrett's 2008 release of his album “Encore” contains arrangements and compositions of his own as well as pieces and melodies that have accompanied him in his life so far. With his 2009 album “Classic Romance”, he returned to his point of departure: classical music.
Dubbed, “the fastest violinist in the world,” David Garrett will be in the 2010 Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-ever performer of “The Flight of the Bumblebee”, clocking in at a blistering 66 seconds. He is said to be the world's fastest violin player, able to perform 13 notes in a single second.
David Garrett will be at the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center in downtown Miami, Florida on Friday February 25, 2011.
