Photographer - Piotr Kowalik Fellow of British Institute of Professional Photography and Master Photographer Associacion, born in Lublin Poland in 1973.I have been working as a photographer since 2000, building a studio as well as working on location in both digital and analogue formats. The way I work reflects my interest in the process of the photography as a whole, form start to finish; designing and making my own accessories such as backgrounds and custom mask for lighting systems using paper, metal foils and fabrics. After shooting the image I am responsible for scanning, digital editing print preparation and finally printing. I have experience in a variety of fields of photography: fashion, photo coverage, corporate and commercial but my main interest is in portraiture. In particular it has allowed working with many different types of subject: models, actors, musicians, dancers as well as ordinary people. Many portrait photographers say that they want to get behind the faces of their subjects; I try to get further then that - to explore the extremes of the human experience. Using the mixture of symbolism visual poetry I look to make images that are bold expressions of pain, anger, passion and longing. I hope that while the photographs are always strong, they never lack subtlety. My philosophy is based around the idea of using contemporary medium of photography to create a classical feel evoking paintings and sculptures.
