An idea arose here to compare the vehicles of the Russian Santa Claus
and his main European rival Santa Claus.
So, where does each of them travel?
What are the differences in the transport of ours and foreign suppliers of gifts for children?
I'll start with a story about the most popular version of Santa Claus's vehicle - the troika.
Troika is an old Russian arc-sled with three horses.
It moves exclusively on the ground,
which means that a clear disadvantage is the low speed of the troika
of 45-50 km / h by modern standards.
Also, Santa Claus may encounter snow drift problems on the roads,
which will slow down his speed even more.
Santa Claus's three is not simple, these are very hardy horses
that can cover a huge distance without rest.
There are bells hanging on the team,
by the ringing of which it is easy to understand
whose sleigh this trio is carrying.
His sledges also differ in increased sliding of runners,
which allows his horses to get tired less.

Santa Claus also uses a sleigh, but this sleigh is magical.
They allow him to move through the air.
Several harnessed reindeer are the pulling force in them.
There were once only eight deer, but later they were joined by another - Rudolph. Its distinguishing feature is its red glowing nose, the reason why it became an advanced deer.
This nose illuminates the path in the fog or in the darkness of the night.
If we talk about moving across the sky, Santa's sleigh is very fast and maneuverable.
They are also protected from the elements by a retractable roof.
The speed gain of more technologically advanced European sleds is obvious,
but this vehicle also has its drawbacks.
After all, in order to rise into the sky, he needs to gain acceleration,
which is not always possible in densely built-up cities of Europe.
So, on the side of Santa Claus, absolute passability.
Agree, this is a significant advantage in our open spaces!

Due to such differences in means of transportation
and due to the fact that Santa Claus travels with his granddaughter Snegurochka,
the ways they perform their main function - giving gifts - differ.
While Santa Claus openly comes to everyone, participates in the holiday,
has fun, gives out gifts, and often not only to children,
Santa usually enters through the chimney and quietly puts presents for children,
trying to remain unnoticed and saving on adults.
