       12.“I was going to go through the main gate, but it was getting late, and I decided to wait in the forest until morning. Suddenly, from my hiding place, right at the edge of the forest, I saw a German FW 190 fighter. I made my way to it at dusk, climbed into the cockpit and saw that the fuel tank was full. I spent the night in it, fighting sleep so as not to miss the dawn, and as soon as dawn began, I examined the cabin. I cannot read German, so I could not decipher the inscriptions on the instruments and find the switches, like in American planes. "
