My name is Laurraine Yuyama of PatchworkPottery. I live near Vancouver, BC Canada. I am a stay-at-home-mother of a 5 year-old girl. I started out creating & quilting my own designs 13 years ago but only considered it a hobby. When I joined Flickr 4 years ago things took off! Everyone loved my work and I started an online shop on Etsy to sell my crafts. Later, I was contacted by Lark Books and have since had patterns published in 4 of their craft books! I recently was asked by Heather McArthur, the publisher/editor of the new Canadian quilting publication “Quilter’s Connection Magazine”, to design a pattern for their first issue. Heather was also looking for a graphic designer so I mentioned that I did some graphic design work for the art gallery where I used to work. After designing a business card for her, she was so impressed with my work that she offered me the position of Creative Director of the magazine and I quickly accepted. I now do graphic design, layout, illustration, and even some photography for the magazine and I am really enjoying my new job!
