It is really hard to trust artists' abilities now days, really. At least for me.
I used to be easily amazed by how the artist execute their feelings, their language, details, art sense, etc.
Now, I can't even stop myself from thinking "Isn't this drawing looks like that drawing?""Is this tracing?" etc.
It is a very uncomfortable feeling.
I understand very much the meaning of adaption, referencing, influences, inspired, ex cetera.
I guess my perception is different from everyone else, at least, for this era.
Somehow now, everyone thinks that it is okay to copy, since there is no more originality.
I don't think it is true. Human, their mind is not limited. There's always something new if we don't give up. If we gave up, we wouldn't have gone so far.
What disturb me the most is when people say "You are just jealous""That's not copy, it's just referencing/inspired" when the artwork is clearly copied from another artist's imagination.
Don't tell feel sorry for the original artist? Oh, I just take away your child and make it mine.

It is not fair for the original artist, isn't it?
It is the brainchild of the artist, the imagination, the visual, the artist's own language.
What is there to jealous? Those phrase, is just an excuse to cover up the artist fault.
When you really admire and like someone, you will really cover up for them, even if it is against morality.
Even if the drawing is good, it is not original. There is only technique to be seen, not the artist's feeling.
"Aiya, you give me see one picture I can show you 5 references liao"
I don't deny the fact that within one picture, there might be references used.
But these are references, for understanding the structure, the colour, the subject, etc.
In the end of the day, it is depend on the artist himself. What is his/her interpretation of the subject.
References is used for understanding, not direct copying.
"I don't understand the fuss about it! I would be glad if I inspired someone!"
Inspired is different from copying.
And if this place is filled with copied works, might as well just stop producing anything, since everything will look the same. What's the point?
But oh well. This is just my opinion. Everyone has their own morality, and I think I am really too stubborn to accept the fact that in this era, copy = godlike.
Which reminds me of a funny conversation.
Someone told me one artist copied a drawing by one amazing artist, when the person himself copied from several amazing artists. And still continuing the same old bad habit.
