Poets - Tour Diaries - Part 3
Just moments before the storm, as we are about to go on stage, we hear the news. The Queen is dead. Its a curve ball that somehow hits home, and not entirely at an auspicious a moment. For a stunned moment of silence, we are left to gather ourselves from the dregs of what feels like a trainwreck. An end of an era. Where do we go from here? What happens now? Suddenly, and once again, its a new age. And yet the world keeps turning. The show is a go. Focus. We will leave it for better men to speak of her. The first lines of Requiem seem surreal sliding out from between my lips. My brain is still clicking like mad to pull all the puzzle pieces of my focus back in place. But then you are there, all of you, the people who hear until they see. And youre incredible. So completely in the moment, like welcoming open arms, bringing me back and keeping me rooted. Thank you. The night turns into a celebration of life. A jubilee of togetherness, and if my dark disquiet sneaks the occasional peek through the hairline cracks of my composure, it only heightens the sense of immediacy and that we are here now, creating this moment with our spirits coming together.
