Currently, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Navy are considering future investments, which are supposed to be sent to replenish the aircraft carrier components of the fleet. We are exploring the possibility of building a replacement for Admiral Kuznetsov and creating lighter aircraft carriers that will play complementary roles.

It is planned that the first two of four light aircraft-carrying ships with a displacement of 20 thousand tons will be laid at the Crimean shipyards in 2020. In the 1920s, construction of two other pennants will begin - 35 thousand tons each. Based on their sides will be vertical take-off fighters, which will be created using technologies developed for the Soviet Yak-141 aircraft.

Regarding the heavier class, the choice has not yet been made: it will be a heavy nuclear supercarrier of at least 80 thousand tons or a less expensive ship of about 70 thousand tons with a conventional power plant. They are supposed to install an electromagnetic catapult. Here, the main air links will consist of a ship version of the Su-57.

As a result, by the end of the 2020s, Russia plans to have an aircraft-carrying fleet of five ships.
