Melbourne people

Вторник, 23 Февраля 2010 г. 10:43 + в цитатник

Hungry for ice-cream at Melbourne Central...

Pedestrian and Vespa, Lonsdale St...

Southbank tourists getting down by the fire...

A protester gets interviewed outside the State Library...

Random shopper departing 120 Collins...

Random Moomba paraders on Swanston St...

Extreme mountain bikers aiming for the peak of Mondriane...

Taking a ride at Luna Park:

A Fashion Week show at QV...

And some random pedestrians on Flinders Lane...

Here we can see the inhabitants of Melbourne or, 'Melburnians' at play. These seventy odd thousand are indulging in the great Oz sport of 'spectating'. Unfortunately absent from this shot are the usual spectating equipment of a 'hot pie', and 'warm beer':

These happy folks are enjoying the immensely popular sport of synchronized figure skating. Please note the saftey net, errected so other Melburnians do not catch this unfortunate disease:

This is a photo of some frightened souls 'sailing' on one of Melbourne's many bodies of water. Frightened because many of Melbourne's bodies of water contain many bodies of errant Melburnian saliors:

Now we come across the Melburnian comonly known as the 'shopper'. The following photos document the Melbourne shopper and it's ritual yearly pilgrimage to the Myer window Christmas display. Apparently in Melbourne, entertainment has not evolved from animatronic puppets:

In this photo you can see that I'm in considerable danger. One of the shoppers has spotted me and is only seconds from alerting it's fellows. Luckily I wasn't wearing any pants that day, so managed to escape:

Moving along we now come across the 'Wet weather' Melburnian. This Melburnian is not a distinct species, but rather metamorphizes from all other Melburnian species at a drop of rain. They roam in packs:

And also, individualy:

In fact, Melburnians can be quite an individual introspective bunch. Continuesly navel gazing as they walk infront of a speeding tram (a large Melbourne creature somewhat resembling an ugly Hippopotamus), or preening themselves in the reflections of shop windows. This one is talking to his 'stock broker' instead of admiring the beautiful Melbourne sunset. Folly for sure:

This youngling is grooming herself in readiness for the daily mating ritual, commonly known as, 'cramming on an overfull tram and shoving your face in someones armpit':

Another young Melburnian - having recently alighted from her 'vespa' - heads off with her phase gun held at the ready. Yes some Melburnians are Star Trek fans (this one looks like she might have a thing for Spock):

An elderly Melburnian leering at some younglings before heading to the bloodbank to get a chocolate milkshake and party pie. This ritual blood letting is esential for elderly Melburnians, as their pension is too low to support them and their children don't care about them. But then they're old and therefore useless, so who cares:

These individuals are practicing the popular Melbourne past-time of walking. Here made more difficult by the application of some stairs:

A Melbourne laneway plays host to a large variety of different Melburnians. This is a, 'Dishus Pigus' from the 'Hospitalitis' genus. He has just finished feeding the nights scraps from his kitchen into the giant wall monster (another Melbourne creature commonly - as in this case - used by Melburnians to dispose of waste):

Sometimes the lane can be a hive of activity - as busy worker Melburnians rush about to get to their hair appointments:

Or sometimes they can contain only a single Melburnian 'Champagne Courier', slowly cycling his way from snooty upmarket eatery to snooty upmarket eatery:

Yes indeed, Melburnians are an interesting bunch. Of course they're also mad, ugly, horrible personal hygenists, pokey, dopey, grumpy, frumpy and even lumpy but let's not hold this against them. So next time a Melburnian waves at you, wave back. Or he'll probably get out of his car and belt you with his tyre iron! Exclemation point cheers man.

The view from Footscray Rd is highly underrated:

Sunset over the inner north-west...

Victoria Harbour under some moody cloudage:

The Southbank cluster...

Most of Docklands and some gunzel pr0n...

This one's done all right in the UPC...

Token shot from the boring end of town...

Back to the interesting end. Old power stations and boobie roofs are much better than bland glass boxes...

Night pano from the angle that everyone's done...

And to finish up, the connection between the old and new cities...
