Amfisound:
The Rasmus a band that doesnt need any introduction.
We are more than happy to inform you that Eero Heinonen has joined the Amfisound player family with a new Amfisound axe in his hands. Although he is a bass player, he wanted us to make one of his guitar dreams come true, namely a modernized 335 guitar with a classical look.
Amfisound wants to thank Eero and the whole band The Rasmus for this project.
We had a great time with Eero when visiting him at the Dynasty studios in Helsinki, where we brought him his guitar.

Eero: "About my new instrument"
We met with Sampo first time in FME, the finnish metal expo fair in Helsinki in 2007. Amfisound was displaying some of their guitars and we came to talk about building instruments. Myself I'm interested in woodcraft and naturally all things related with instruments.
Later on I visited the Amfisound factory near Oulu and we decided with Sampo that we will design a guitar together. I have this fixation on the 335-shape in guitar designs and we decided to make the instrument in that shape and basis.
This guitar has quite a thick arch top, made of maple. Under the maple top there is a semi-hollow mahogany body. The neck is maple and fingerboard rosewood. I think this instrument is stunningly beautiful! They made the top in a beautiful brown color that looks natural with the wood's texture coming through. It's a combination of vintage woody look and a very articulate and clear sound
The attack in the sound is something quite amazing. Usually the 335 style guitars have somewhat boomy bottom end, but this one is very clear cut and punchy in the sound, the bottom end is not loose, it's tight. Something in the sound reminds me even of that sharp sound of a telecaster, but this one has also the big mass of the humbucker pickups.
It's a great combination!
We decided to put pickups by Bare Knuckle pickups, it's a UK company which has all their products handmade. These pickups have quite a strong output, and they are a good match with my Deluxe Rev and Super Bass amps.
Maybe we might hear this instrument on the next Rasmus album that is due out in September!
