Trivia 5

Среда, 22 Декабря 2004 г. 05:54 + в цитатник
- The last story in the “Grisha Konov” (tm) series. Of course, there were plans of continuing the cycle, but several events in the Author’s real life made him finish the cycle for always and forever.

- The story was fictional in the beginning, but only some time later most events came true. It was also the first time a “Grisha Konov” (tm) short story predicted something so close to the reality.

- In this short story the character of “Elia” becomes associated for always with <…> (Пришедшая_Из_Дождя), a real person from the Author’s life.

- The phrase “Si seulement les chateaux de sable ne se brisaient pas, quand on les regarde…” is the French translation of another catchy phrase from the game “Max Payne”.

- The “Svalintos Karedes” character is loosely based on the character of Stanislav (Вальс_Ночной_Москвы), who is the Author’s worst enemy and the one, who broke his life. When replaced, the letters in the name “Svalintos” give “Stanislov”, which is close to “Stanislav”. This character is also loosely based on Felix. “Karedes” is a name created by the Author from the Greek name “Kratides”, taken from one of the stories about Sherlock Holmes by A. Conan Doyle.

- The expression “un zero complet avec une queue” is a real expression used by Stanislav (Вальс_Ночной_Москвы) to express his opinion about the Author.

- The phrase “Svalintos etait tres habile dans l’art de la parole.” expresses Stanislav’s (Вальс_Ночной_Москвы) real life ability.

- The “Jose Valdez” character is a totally fictional character. “Valdez” is a real existing Latin-American name. There weren’t any prototypes for this character.

- The short story reflects the Author’s real life love story with many references to it.

- There were plans on having the Svalintos’ father Laverius play one of the major roles in the short story.

- There were plans on having the Grisha’s father Vladyslav play one of the major roles in the short story.

- The “Jean-David LeShow” character is very loosely based on the real life person named Jean-David Pierre, whom the Author never met in the real life, but who was an acquaintance of Stanislav (Вальс_Ночной_Москвы). The “LeShow” name was created from two words: “le” (as “the”) and “show”. The show “LeShow” refers to is the famous banana dance performed by Jean-David Pierre. Also, there was a film greatly appreciated by the American writer Kilgore Trout(Килгор_Траут) (От редактора: Вранье!) and the Author (it was called “Lost Voyage”) starring Lance Henriksen (“Aliens”, “Aliens vs. Predator”; the Author’s favorite actor) as a certain “David Show”. All of this led to the creation of the “LeShow” character, who is also loosely based on Felix.

- The phrase “il se laissa seduire par le monde des gangs et de la violence” is a reference to the game “KGB” mentioned in the Trivia #3.

- The Grisha Konov locker scene is an exact illustration of the scene the Author experienced in the real life (in Accueil).

- The “On file!” quotation of Jean-David LeShow is a reference to the Russian blockbuster “Antikiller” by Yegor Mihalkov-Konchalovskiy starring Gosha (Yuri) Kutsenko (“Spetsnaz”, “Nochnoy Dozor”) as Lis, the former policemen, who still battles with crime with his own brutal methods.

- The scene, when the gang of black hooligans surrounds Grisha in his house is based on the real life scene, when some young gangsters battled each other near the Author’s house (but the Author wasn’t their target in the real life).

- The “Mind Bend” mentioned in the short story is another reference to Stanislav (Вальс_Ночной_Москвы), or, rather, to one of his nicknames.

- The phrase “Les lievres du gars inconnu et d’Elia s’unisserent en un baiser…” is a reference to one of the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs about Tarzan.

- Jose taking out a knife is the reference to the battle between Felix and the Author mentioned in the Trivia #1.

- The expression “le point de non-retour” is another reference to the “Babylon 5” saga.

- The way Grisha commits suicide is the loser’s way of suicide in one of the poems written by the Author.

- The Author wanted to commit suicide the way his short stories hero Grisha Konov ended his life. He was about to do it, but survived.

- Deleted scenes. The phrase “l’incomprehension et l’anxiete montaient meme plus” is a reference to the Author’s favorite phrase “Excitation monte!”

- The phrase “le matin – c’est mieux que le soir” is a common Russian proverb.

- This is the last trivia section. Point.
