Born in Poland, he is a classical realist painter who depicts his fascination for mythological figures in his monumental oil paintings. He has spent much time in European museums where he developed a love for classical art, especially the Dutch Masters, and his masterful illusionary works look like Old Master paintings. As a child, he was encouraged by his mother, who was a painter and tapestry maker, and he had his first show in his hometown of Warsaw when he was eleven years old. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw where he received an M.F.A. degree in conservation. There he learned medieval tempera painting, 17th-century glazing methods and 19th-century alla prima painting.
