Gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows on larger needles in pattern = 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4").
Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st.
Rib: * Knit 1, purl 1 *. Repeat from * - *.
Short model: If a short model is desired: Decrease measurements at armholes, neck and binding off by 13 cm (1 rose less). Finished length = 56 (59-61) cm . Decrease the yarn amount by approx. 50 grams each of Cols. 15 and 32 (sizes M+L), Col. 44 (size L), and Col. 53 (all sizes).
Body: If a shorter model is desired, see instructions above. The sweater is knit in the round on circular needles with steeks cut for armholes afterwards.
Cast on 210 (228-246) sts with pistachio on smaller circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 3 cm stockinette st, P 1 row (right side row, for the folding edge -- measure the work from here). Knit Pattern 1. Change to larger needles and knit 2 (3-4) cm stockinette st with Pistachio, increasing 10 (12-14) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row after Pattern 1 = 220 (240-260) sts. Place a second marker for the other side; front and back each = 110 (120-130) sts.
Begin Pattern 2, evenly spacing the roses across the front and back, and repeat to finished dimensions. When the work measures 44 (47-48) cm inc 5 sts each side (these sts are for the steeks and are not knit in the pattern).
When the work measures 55 (58-60) cm divide the front at the center and knit the rest back and forth on needle. Dec each side of V-neck every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 9 (9-10) times, then every 4th row: 1 st 3 times.
When the work measures 67 (70-72) cm bind off the center back 28 (28-30) sts for the neck. Bind off 2 sts at each back neck edge on the next row. Bind off all sts when the work measures approx. 69 (72-74) cm , adjusting for complete pattern.
Sleeves: Cast on 54 (54-54) sts on smaller double pointed needles with Pistachio; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 3 cm stockinette st, P 1 row (right side row, for the folding edge -- measure the work from here). Knit Pattern 1. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit 2 (3-4) cm stockinette st with Pistachio. Begin Pattern 2 and knit to finished dimensions, centering a rose on the sleeve. At the same time, when the work measures 5 cm , inc 1 st each side of the marker 26 (26-28) times:
Sizes S + M: every 4th row.
Size L: alternately every 3rd and 4th row.
= 106 (106-110) sts. When the work measures 47 (45-44) cm put 5 sts each side of the marker on a st holder and knit the rest back and forth on the needle. Put sts on a holder for sleeve caps each side every other row: 10 sts 3 times. The work measures approx. 50 (48-47) cm . Put all the sts back on the needles and knit 2 cm reverse stockinette st for a seam allowance over the cut edges on the body. Bind off.
Assembly: Sew a marker thread down into the center of the steek sts each side. Sew two machine seams each side of the marker thread, ½ st to each side. Cut up the center seam for armholes. Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 105-115 sts around the neck on smaller needles with Pistachio and knit 2 cm rib back and forth on the needle from the center front. Bind off. Lay the right part of the neck edge over the left part and sew.
Sew the sleeves to the body from the right side as follows: Sew alternately a st in the last row of knitting on the sleeve before the seam allowance and a st on the body after the machine seam. Turn the sweater inside out and sew the seam allowance from the sleeve over the cut steek edge on the body by hand. Fold all edges over against the wrong side and sew.
