No one ever worries about the plight of the midget. Sure the blacks were enslaved and suppressed by the white man for centuries… that happened years ago. Imagine, if you will, being a midget and spending your life running away from kids wanting to get your pot of gold, and rednecks who want to cover you with shoe polish and throw you headfirst into a felt wall. Sounds pretty horrific don’t it…
Well for 120 Chinese midgets, enough has finally become enough as they have fled the world of the giants and started their own midget commune in the mountains in Southern China.
“As small people we are used to being pushed around and exploited by big people. But here there aren’t any big people and everything we do is for us,” said spokesman Fu Tien.
To live in the midget commune one must be less than 4 foot 3 inches, be willing to chip in on the communal duties (including manning their own police force and fide department), be willing to dress like a fairy tale character, and live in a mushroom house.
Yes you read that right. Somewhere in the south of China there is a midget village where the little people live in mushroom houses and dress like elves and dwarves.
And this “tiny town” is a tourist attraction to boot, with many Chinese citizens making their way to Kunming to check out the mountain commune, which of course goes against the very principle of starting the midget commune in the first place.
