Monday scan carried out by the club’s medical services confirms the extent of the injury picked-up by Torres in Aston Villa clash
Following a scan late Monday afternoon, Liverpool confirmed that Fernando Torres suffered a hamstring tear during the Reds’ Premier League goalless draw against Aston Villa on Sunday.
The Anfield striker limped off during the first half of the match and was forced to withdraw from the Spanish squad for their forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia. The forward was due to join the rest of Spain’s squad at the Las Rozas football complex on Monday at 20:00 hours (BST).
A club spokesman informed that, “a scan this afternoon has confirmed a hamstring tear in Fernando’s right leg. He is expected to be out for between two and three weeks.”
