Chenonceau - Louise de Lorraine's bed
Louise de Lorraine-Vaudémont (1553-1601) married king Henri III in 1575. She was queen of France from 1575 until 1589 when her beloved husband was assassinated. She had her room painted black, wore only white, the official colour of mourning, and uttered nothing but prayer since.

La chambre de l'Impératrice (Château de Fontainebleau)

Depuis la Reine Marie de Médicis jusqu'à l'Impératrice Eugénie, toutes les souveraines occupèrent cette chambre. Le décor actuel correspond à différentes époques. Le mobilier est celui que connut l'Impératrice Joséphine. Le lit fut exécuté pour Marie-Antoinette qui n'eut pas le temps de l'utiliser. La soierie des murs et du mobilier a été retissée à Lyon de 1968 à 1986 d'après les modèles du 18ème siècle.
