Note
The ends of pipe cleaners are sharp (even if you bend them). Therefore I recommend you not to use the little men as toys for young children.

Needed
Cotton, fiberfill, 5 pipe cleaners (1 from head to left foot, 1 from head to right foot, 1 from left foot to right foot, 2 from right hand to left hand).

Leg 1
Crochet a magic ring with 7 sc (do not close the ring completely; 2 pipe cleaners will come through).
Crochet 15 rounds with 7 sc.

Leg 2
Crochet another leg. At the end of this leg, go on crocheting on leg 1, 7 sc, and then back on leg 2, also 7 sc. Now you have 14 sc.

In the next round, crochet 2 sc's together, 7 times. Then you have 7 sc.

Now put a pipe cleaner in both legs. Let the end stick out (is this the correct word?) a little bit at the foot and a large end on the other side (this end should be in the head later). Bend a third pipe cleaner and put both ends each in one leg (as far as possible).

Body
Crochet 10 rounds of 7 sc, around the 2 pipe cleaners (this might feel clumsy, but you'll get used to it).

Neck and arms
Then the most difficult part.
Crochet in each stitch 3 sc's (start to increase in the front and in the middle). Then you have 21 sc's.
Crochet 2 rounds of 7 sc for the neck, in the 7 sc's in the middle (that is, 3 on the front, 4 at the back; leave 7 stitches uncrocheted on the left and 7 on the right). Drop de the yarn (later on you'll crochet the head with this).
Crochet (with another ball of yarn) an arm in the 7 sc on the left: 12 rounds of 7 sc. Cut yarn. Put 2 pipe cleaners in the arm (let it stick out on both sides).
Crochet the other arm, around the pipe cleaners, in the 7 sc on the right: 12 rounds of 7 sc.

Head
Increase on the neck to 12 sc, the next round to 18 sc and the next round to 24 sc.
Crochet a round of 24 sc.
Increase in next round to 30 sc.
Then 3 rounds of 30 sc.
Decrease in next round to 24 sc, and in next round to 18 sc.
Crochet a round of 18 sc.
Fill the head with fiberfill, with the ends of the pipe cleaners in it.
Decrease the next round to 12 sc, and in next round to 6 sc. Close the head.

Finish
Stretch the arms and legs by pulling on both sides (if you don't, it will stretch later and then the pipe cleaners will be too short). Cut the pipe cleaners at about 0,5 cm, bend it and put it in the arm/leg (yes, that's a bit difficult).
Close the magic rings of the feet and close the arms.
Cut the yarn. If needed you can use the yarn to close some holes.
