Volcom Wild In The Parks

At 11:00 all addicted skateboarders and Volcom Skate team started to gather at Adrenaline skatepark to take part in forthcoming contest and see demo of the pros. At the entrance to the Extreme Zone started free registration. There were 2 catagories of participants, 15 and younger and 16 and older. A record number of skaters, about 90, registered in order to show their best, and that was by no means connected to the fact that every participant got a special Volcom WITPs t-shirt and a coupon for a free pizza and a drink.

While everybody warmed up the organizers put everywhere big Volcom stickers and banners. Some of Volcom riders started to skate along with the rest. Roberto Aleman is one of the older riders and is a good representation of Volcom punk style: slim fit pants, simple looking tricks, but done on great speed. Without blinking an eye he did disaster bs 50-50, 5-0, crooked.

Alain Goikoetxea has a wider fit pants and his style of skating differs a bit from Roberto's. He just skated all over the park, not forgetting to do the lines, for instance, such as 360 flip upward euro gap and back bs rock'n roll on the huge vertical ramp, and after the turn on the opposite radius did bs 5-0 on the ramp side, feeble up the big rail. These, of course, are not the hardest tricks but they did them like a walk in the park. Ivan Rivado did kickflip crooked on the stand and Luy Pa Sin bs smith 180 out and fs shove-it nosegrind.

The first two rounds to skate were the kids 15 and under. All rounds were 20 minutes jam sessions. The judges were Alain, Roberto and Luy Pa, having some snacks on the way. From the kids I would personally like to notice Stas Nikitin and Maksim Ryazanov (number 66). The latter did ollie grab, kickflip over fun box, bs and fs boardslide, and all the tricks were performed high and confident. I'm pretty sure he will be kicking ass pretty soon. Misha Orlov was doing crooked and some other tricks, tried bluntslide, failed, but it could be seen he could.

Among 16 and over category one should pay attention to Zhenya Solov, yeah! (bs 50-50, fs and bs lipslide, smith), Anton Horev was performing stable as always, Gena Kakusha was at his best, he even managed to do the new tricks he failed before.

I should also mention the second two rounds by 15 and under category. After Vitalik, the host, shouted: GO! Time is running! The whole gang, dressed up in red Volcom t-shirts got to the opposite sides of the funbox and it began. They started in pairs and even in groups of three, jumped on the box and rails, some really did ollie, frontside, backside, some even did kickflip but only to the middle of the table. They tried to do some unreal tricks, the ones they had probably seen only in videos. Some kid in military looking pants was skating over and over the funbox with a serious look, getting up in front of the table, very stable and probably wanted to get into finals (having worn all kind of protection)

The less time was left the more and faster they jumped on each other, slided on the floor on their bellies and run all over the park to get their boards. One girl, in a fancy t-shirt, jumping from the funbox kept flying to opposite sides with her board. It looked like she was trying to do a flip, but it was unclear how. Afterwards she tightened and shook her little fists as if it was her most stable trick. On the whole it all looked like a regional show off of a karate team, who was given bards and told to jump. The only one noticeable in terms of tricks was Pavel Gerasimov, he also was in a red t-ahirt but with Adrenalin written over. Lets hope that their best competitions are still ahead.

During the best trick contest one could definitely notice a guy in a green t-shirt. He perfectly did boardslide 17 times in a row, having left two layers of his deck on the box and leaving absolutely no chances for skaters like Sasha Tushev and Gena Kakusha (disaster fs boardslide, 50-50, 5-0, feeble), Misha Mazhega (switch crooked), Zhenya Solovyev (bs lip), Maksim Pal¡ Chikov (fs bluntslide shove-it). Also Anton Horev almost did disaster fs feeble, even landed it but didn't manage to keep balance. But the winner was after all Gena Kakusha, despite all attempts of the insidious competitor, whose aim was to get confident with his boardslide at the very competitions or baffle other less stable but known skaters.

Final 15 minutes Jam Session was the most interesting because only the best skated and almost everybody succeeded. Gena did disaster fs boardline, bs ollie over the whole funbox, 360 flip and bs ollie from the springboard. Drozda did a line fakie flip (from springboard to springboard) and back with a big flip. Also hi did shifty kickflip, bs nosegring over the stand, fs and bs flip. Sasha Smirniva as always did her most stable tricks.

Having analyzed all the results the judges delivered the verdict and awarded the winners with valuable trophies, custom decks for each place and category and bunch of stuff made by super cool company Volcom. The spectators also havent been forgotten and got many presents from Volcom, the company that has organized such an event for you. For that we show him our enormous respect.
