You planned to go to studio soon! Recording is a very hard work, it takes a lot of  concentration and time...anyway you have to repeat again and again...what are you doing after a hard working day in the studio to keep the balance?

Snack: Actually it is not so hard! The job in the studio it is one of my favourite things to do! Create new music and stuff like this! When you are working you can’t think of anything else, your focused on the music…all the time in your head you hear some new sounds and voices…yeah but it is not so much hard work!

How many songs have you planed for the new album?

Jonne: We have many new ideas…like 15 or 16, don’t know exactly! We have tried already only one, one song!

Snack: Yeah one song! But we have a good feeling about that!

Jonne: Yeah! But there is no word yet…you know; only the melody…instrumental…I was singing nananana!

Will you also tour Germany after the release?

Snack: I think of course…yes!

Jonne: First plan was that we can come over here and bring the record out in spring. But let’s see what is gonna happen…cause the Dvd is coming out first! So I don’t know!

Snack: And we are still touring…

Jonne: We are going to China and Russia and hopefully there is touring some Italy…

Caro: And what about Spain? They are waiting for so long!
Jonne: Let’s see, I don’t know! I don’t wanna take too many things at the same time, because they are going to eat each other! As a band we are in some kind of turning point that we can start all over again!

You did this Queen Cover Song “Too much love will kill you” with your brother Ville and some other musicians, what do you think about doing some more songs in cooperation with other bands?

Jonne: Of course…YES!

Snack: And we have always done so…for example with Ville from Sentenced…

C: Yes…ok…

Snack: And then we have in Anorectic done it with Dave Lindholm, he is playing Guitar…

Jonne: It brings more perspectives…I would like to sing in finnisch, some day, some old traditional…just one song!

B: Maybe you should put it to the show, to see if the fans will like it!?

Jonne: Oh no…not to the show!

But you also like bands like Uniklubi?

Jonne: Yeah…but not like that…totally different, just like a old Finnish traditional!

Snack: Yeah…an old song!

Jonne: From the sixties! It is like therapy you know! Instead of touring or something!

What do you think about doing a song with both of your brothers?

Did you ever thought about something like this?

Jonne: Maybe in the future…

C: You will sing with them?

Jonne: It would be great! Tommi has…

Snack: Already we did it once! On Tommi’s birthday!

Jonne: Yeah on his birthday…he was singing the backing vocals…was it “My My Hey Hey”?

Snack: Yeah I think so!

Jonne: We played this song! He was on the stage…

C: He was on stage?

Jonne: Yeah he smashed a guitar!

C: That is Rock N Roll!

S+J: Yeah!

Jonne: He has a really great voice…really high…how did you say…he has a really high…

(aks something in finnisch)

Snack: C?

Jonne: He can sing really high! And it doesn’t sound bad! Probably one of those reasons why he bought this record label. So now he is able to release his own music!

Snack: Yeah! (Both of them smile)

C: And he can be his own manager, he can decide everything!

Snack: Yeah!

And what about you Snack, do you have any brothers and sisters?

Snack: Yes I have, I have a big sister and a big brother!

Jonne, you read this book about Robbie Williams,

Jonne: Yeah…Feel!

C: Yes!

Is he one of your idols?

Jonne: Yeah he is one of my heroes that exist! Still alive!

C: Have you ever met him?

Jonne: No, unfortunately not, but I have been in the same Radio station, this kind of small studio.

C: So you felt the vibes?

Jonne: Yeah…there was this…like a Teddybear but plastic…and there was all this autographs…but it would be nice to meet him!

C: What do you think about his way of life and his career?

Jonne: I think we all do have problems; we are all just human beings! There are no robots or machines. But some people don’t admit those problems, and some people don’t show it! When you are in this business, you have only a few secrets, you know what I mean?

C: Yeah!

Snack: And there is so much temptation that you can easily fell in problems!

Jonne: And when you are going bigger and bigger…I mean when you are getting more and more success…all this media and newspapers and magazines start to write…

B: Shit about you?

Jonne: Yeah!

B: I know…

Jonne: They try to search from the past…all this…

Snack: Pick up dirty things from the past!

Jonne: Yeah!

B: And everything is made to a rumour whatever it is they are using it for a big headline…

Jonne: Yeah!

Snack: And if they don’t have any news they pick something…

Jonne: And Robbie, he has had really this kind of rock n roll attitude, from the start with Take That. He was the bad boy! He seems like a nice person to make a duet with…

Snack, are there female musicians that you like very much?

Snack: Yeah…of course Madonna is one! I like this Ray of Light Album!

Janis Joplin…yeah I think Janis Joplin is the biggest artist that I like!

Jonne: Pink…Kylie Minouge…

So imagine you got the chance to spend one day with one of them,
and you should organize it, how would it look like?

Jonne: With Kylie?

C: Yeah! (Laughs) I can imagine…

Jonne: What would I do?

Snack looks at Jonne and they both starts to giggle

Silence for more than a minute they just looking at each other smiling!

Could it be that Jonne’s face is blushing a little bit?

B: (Need to laugh too because Jonne and Snack are looking at each other smiling but saying nothing!)

Jonne: Something nice…

C: Ok!

Jonne: I would probably start to lick her face! You know what I mean! (Big smile) (I’m not sure does he really mean her face? ;-))

C: Yeah!

Snack: If I could be with Janis Joplin I just would be playing piano and she would be singing…just jamming!

If you got the chance to be someone else for one day, who would you like to be?

Jonne: Elvis Presley! Because I curiously would like to know how it is to play in this so called heavenly orchestra! Is there gonna be this everlasting chance! Going on somewhere!

C: Ok but have you ever thought about being someone normal, not famous? Not playing in a band?

Jonne: No…if you will get that feeling you can stop doing music and go to work in some Hamburg or whatever…you know what I mean!

C: Yeah I know! Ok…I think our time is over!

Thank you for your time!

Negative: Anorexia and a strange fetish

s_blufshtein (Planet_of_NEGATIVE) все записи автора If any Finnish band has its share of silly jokes, cheesy rumors and hysterically loud female following, without a doubt you´d recognize – it´s Negative! STALKER had them reveal some juicy details about the band...

It´s true, fragile Jonne can beat any new born kitten or a puppy in charisma and cuteness. Such pale, crystal-blue-eyed blonde is clearly a creature from out of this world, he does not even need to speak so much, as his whole being is so descriptive and vivid, stories are colorful and emotional, so the only negative aspect of all this is that this interview with Jonne Aaron Liimatainen (vocals) and Larry Love (guitar) should really have been done in video format!

How´s it going?
Jonne: It´s ok, I like the weather.
Larri: Yeah, it´s nice. 25 degrees minus!
Jonne: This kind of weather really makes me already wait for the summer time.

Why do you look so tired?
Jonne: Because I just woke up.
Larri: Yes, me too.

What happened last night?
Larri: Nothing unusual, just listening to music at my friends´and staying really-really late and I don´t remember how late. The usual stuff…

So how´s the rock´n´roll circus doing?
Jonne: Now we´re having a break with touring, and we´re getting back on the road again in March or in April, we aren´t sure yet, but we´ll keep going with this tour until next autumn, but it´s been great so far, we´ve started in Japan, then we went to Russia, then we were touring in Europe, so recently we played these 12 shows over here.

Do you like Russia so much?
Jonne: The crowd is great over there
Larri: And always has been like very cool experience to play there, it´s a different kind of atmosphere, more crazy, more emotional,
Jonne: People are spontaneous during the show, I believe they aren´t faking anything, really honest.

Do you have any funny stories from the tour?
Jonne: A lot of! For example in Japan, our keyboarder Snack, he passed out, he was too wasted in the hotel´s hall way.
Larri: it´s in the part of Sinner´s Night/Misty Morning video.
Jonne: Yeah, actually there´s a clip in that video, it´s a Slammer
Larri: Actually I was wondering that Snack is sleeping there…
Jonne: I believe the spirit in a band on this tour, it´s been best ever, honestly. We´re more common, like some kind of 6 wolves or something like that, you know, searching for the victims.

Why do you compare yourselves to the wolves?
Jonne: Because they´re lonely ones, and we´ve done this on our own way.
Larri: And they also live together, and they eat each other (laughs) And they are really hungry, always and we are definitely hungry, want to do some more and more stuff and more gigs, more everything, we´re feeling anorectic you know (laugh)
Jonne: You don´t have always time to eat.

Lonely hungry wolves

And this then obviously has something to do with your latest album, right? What was the inspiration for this?
Jonne: It´s about that, the more you eat, the more you get hungry. I believe so. The more you get something, the more you want it, this makes you want it even more. It´s about another side of the coin. It´s always a lot of fun, joy and all these positive things, but there´s always the other side of the coin and it´s about that.

What´s the relation between that and the whole circus-clown theme?
Jonne: If you see inside the CD inlay, there´s this young clown, he´s traveling with the train, and in that picture he´s still small and whatever, and in a cover he´s old, but it´s the same guy. We want to show to the people, everything is not always as it seems, you know. There needs to be time for yourself, it´s really difficult.

Are you as you seem, or is there another side to your stage-image?
Larri: I would say that people think that we are, more energetic and more crazy, than we are. They think that we have this really, like our acting on stage, very fast and it´s going, like our songs, no space between them, so hectic and many people get this picture that we´re rock´nroll guys, party all the time, we aren´t polite and then they´re really surprised, when we´re writing autographs and then “ok, you´re so polite and I thought you´re all about rock´n´roll, you don´t care anything…”
Jonne: Assholes!
Larri: Yeah!
Jonne: the other reason is that we want to party all the time, so we need to play those songs fast and that´s why there´s no any space between the songs. The more you are on tour, the more you want some space for yourself, having a day off and it´s like… You know, recently I found a new great hobby, flash ball. Of course you´re surrounded by music 24 hours, that´s the main thing. You´re all the time thinking of the new ideas and stuff like that.

Is this how your inspiration comes, if you even believe in inspiration?
Jonne: I believe you need to take some break, between writing session and other stuff, it´s like this for me, I don´t know about the other guys. For example when we got our album finished, I´m gonna take like 4, 3, 8 weeks break, that I don´t even think about guitar.
Larri: it´s like, when you´re doing, for example, we did those recordings, we went to the studio in November and ended all the covers and stuff in July, or something. So it´s really long process and it´s hard to get your head off those songs, the songs are spinning around in your head, you´re playing them at rehearsals and doing some gigs, so… It takes time. Just yesterday I wrote a new song, or no, it was only an idea for a chorus, but it was the first idea that came out naturally after this “Anorectic”. I just had this melody going in my head, I have to find the chords and stuff, or if I won´t find the chords, the melody won´t leave me alone.
Jonne: It´s the same for me. Lately it´s been like, really chaotic, you know, storm in my head with the new ideas. I mean I have some clips from there and there.
Larri: It´s like a puzzle, you know, pieces from there and there…
Jonne: Yeah, but we need to sit down with Larri and see what we got and maybe figure out something what we can out together, it was like this with “Sweet and Deceitful”, we were working like that. I wanna get back to that, with this working process, I wanna do it like that.
Larri: With “Anorectic” it was more like, I was away when we were doing “Anorectic” and I had my personal problems, with my relationship and drugs and stuff and I was kind of away, so… there´s few songs, for example “Glory of the Shame”, “Reflections” we did together.

So you always compose together, what about the rest of the band, what do they do?
Jonne: We do all arrangements together, with the band and of course they´re bringing some ideas also, but the main chords and stuff like that. If there´s gonna be a day, in my case for example, that I don´t have any ideas anymore, then I will give space for the other guys, but so far it has been for me like a spiritual trip… how can I say? Like a therapy, express my feelings, show to the people…
Larri: The other guys have also wrote some songs, but we´ve noticed it´s different to the Negative´s style. Me and Jonne, we have a kind of the same sense of melodies, very opened, for example yesterday I wrote that chorus and maybe Jonne has some ideas for the verses or intro, or whatever…

So you´re already thinking of a new album?
Jonne and Larri (simultaneously): YEAH! At the moment we hope that it´ll see daylight till end of this year.

What should we expect?
Jonne: I don´t know yet, too early to say anything, hopefully something different, we want to keep it fresh…
Larri: deep jungle (laughs)

How do you write your songs, can you work while on tour?
Jonne: Yeah, we spend a lot of time in the bus, traveling… It doesn´t take the place or time where I´m getting my ideas, in a food store or whatever, so during the tour I get some little ideas and when I get back home, start working with them.
Larri: That´s how it goes with me, it´s like this little ideas are coming all the time, finding the chords and make sure that I remember them. I never record myself, I just remember everything.

How do you manage to remember this much?
Larri: If the song is good enough, I´m going to remember it. I play it for like 5 or 10 times and the next day I try again, and if it still sounds good, it´s worth trying it with the band, but I don´t know, the best ideas just stays in my head and the real work starts when you´re putting all together all the songs, all the arrangements, that´s the most difficult part to get the whole album together, to make it complete, all the songs together, you´ve to find the right songs. For example with “Anorectic” how many songs did we have? 20 ideas or so…
Jonne: Right, and we picked only 12.

A phone filled with songs

How do you choose which ones?
Jonne: Just a feeling, comes from somewhere, that this fits much better than this one.
Larri: It´s quite natural way, you know. I remember you were saying that “let´s try this idea, I have this idea for example that “Planet” song, or “Song for the Brokenhearted” and then we just started to play it, and there wasn´t any kind of competition, this song or that song, it´s just natural and then we´ve realized that we´ve those songs.

And you could always use whatever is leftover, later on…
Larri: Of course, because music is forever, you know? It´s immortal.
Jonne: But I would like to bring more Queen in our music, for example in that way, their material is always different.

How long did it take to compose “Anorectic”?
Larri: If you´re thinking of the first ideas, then it was at the FinnVox studios…
Jonne: At FinnVox we were doing the mixing session for “Sweet and Deceitful” and we got that idea for “Reflections”. Larri was playing some chords, and I started to sing… and we recorded it by my phone (laughs) and it was the beginning.
Larri: That was actually the first song we started to rehearse. I remember it was at the old rehearsal room, then we changed to a bigger one.
Jonne: That I mentioned with the phone, it´s typical to me, the memory of my phone is totally full of ideas. When I get the melody, when the melody comes, when I get some idea, or inspiration, I always hmmm (does a continuous humming noise) it into my phone. Now I can´t use that phone anymore, because it´s too full.

Now you need a new phone!
Jonne: I already have! I was thinking to get a computer, I´m very excited about that. Nothing big, but something I can do, like play different kind of instruments, like one by one, do some demos of different ideas, I don´t know… I´m always also interested that you are able to do some funky and disco things, I mean, it´s even more fascinating me, because then I can try recording my own ideas, dance music… I´ve heard that Manton is the most easiest recording program in the world.
Larri: I don´t like those machines, they´re too digital for me… I remember all my melodies. I think it´s also something that keeps your brains awake and going on. You notice it when you´re playing the song or some idea for the first time, and then when you´re playing the idea for the second time, it comes out totally different. The pieces are starting to get together, somehow you´re unconsciously thinking… it´s a strange feeling, you know….

Which of your songs are you the most proud of?
Jonne: I have to say I´m most proud of “Anorectic”, it´s my most favorite child, the whole album. Always what you´ve done recently is the most important. I mean, with “Sweet and Deceitful” songs we´re also very pleased, we played them all live, “Goodbye”, “Dying Feelings” and stuff like that, “Better Without You”, if you know those, rare B-sides, what we don´t play usually…

For the fans this is very special…
Jonne: and for us too! It was like, “yeah, now we´ve this song and this song…” It was then honestly more fun than usually.

I´ve read that your favorite song is “Still Alive”…
Jonne: It´s old biography, but it´s a very important song to me. There was a little bit different, the lyrics were a little bit different back then. I wrote it when I was 14-15, I wrote the lyrics, during those years I was struggling with myself, I was going through some changes, it was like surviving, a survivor´s story, like a rope to hold on to. After that song I had this very strong feeling, that now I´m able to, I´ve got this self-confidence. After that song I wrote “Lost Soul” and stuff like that, and it was very inspiring time, so…

Your songs are then quite personal. Do you write any fiction at all?
Jonne: All very personal. Also with this “Anorectic” I wrote a lot of material, about other people´s lives also, so it´s not all only finger in my ass, so… Because like Larri and some of my very close friends, they were going through some very difficult things, stuff like that, I like to write about those things, when you aren´t so… you need to find some hope, before you´ll be able to write anything.

This makes you quite an optimistic person I think, always seeing some light at the end…
Jonne: I like to, I like to think that way because you know, you´re master of yourself, everybody is master of themselves, so have a little faith, I believe in that.
Larri: When you´re deciding something like this, Negative thing, when we´ve started with those members, got the record deal, it was such strong feeling, that the decision to stop schools and everything and concentrate only on Negative, I think it was such big decision, such big thing in our heads, that we´ve made this decision that it´s the rest of our lives, that it´ll follow us to the graves, you can´t stop now.
Jonne: We can´t stop now, we´re too far. I don´t want to regret something for the rest of my life, I want to see the rest of the Gods. It´s natural that in any job you lose your motivation and stuff, and I´m always thinking that there´re six of us, I´m not alone, so we get some motivation from each other, when someone is getting desperate.
Larri: You can definitely see when somebody is going through some hard stuff and sometimes, for example, I am very close to Christus and I can notice when he´s going through something and I try to cheer him up and it´s going, when I´m depressed, he notices. We´re close friends and we´re a good band in a way, we talk to each other, we can talk about everything, it´s like a family, no secrets.
Jonne: Whenever there´s some break when we don´t see each other, few weeks or whatever, and when we get to the rehearsal place, we can start from that when we separated last time, you can´t see the time before, or it take a few minutes…
Larri: it´s like charging the batteries and starting again.

What´s your attitude towards drugs?
Jonne: Everybody decides, as I said, everybody´s their own master.
Larri: Maybe I would say that people really should consider alcohol as a drug, it´s really hard, people are really doing bad stuff with alcohol, beating each other, don´t remember what they are doing, and maybe when I have seen many people smoking pot, I haven´t seen anybody fighting, so… If you would ask me, it would be better if marihuana would be legal, and no alcohol, it´ll be more peaceful. I am definitely against hard drugs.
Jonne: I would say that hard drugs are an eternal problem, and everybody should decide themselves, if they take it or not. To me, I don´t use it, it´s like alcohol is my favorite drug.

What´s your favorite drink?
Jonne: I like White Russian, it´s a good one, my favorite. I also like beer, depends on a mood and on a day, everything, if you´re drinking for the first day – anything goes, but for the second day, I can´t drink two days in a row, I can´t.
Larri: Fisu, you know Fisu? To me it´s kind of a problem that I cannot drink, you know… If I start – I drink the whole week or something, then I´m in such bad shape and so on, I just don´t like it.

Drinking on stage – rather not...

What about drinking on stage, during the show?
Larri: I´m not using alcohol before gigs.
Jonne: It´s like, to me personally, I´m gonna forget the lyrics and I´m gonna mumble even more than I do now, you know..
Larri: It just takes the creativity away, it´s the kind of poison, it makes you head blurry, and maybe a couple of beers wouldn´t be so bad, not totally wasted, but there´s this problem of always waiting and waiting and waiting and if you start early, the first thing in the morning, it is sure that you will be very drunk when it´s time to do the gig.
Jonne: Days are long, but to me, at the same time, why I don´t drinking before or during the shows, it´s because I want to feel and use all my instincts, I want to sense the audience, sense the band, the music – everything! I want to know all the time what´s going on, and I don´t need alcohol because I´ve got the music.
Larri: We´re also learned from the hard way, when we´ve released our first album, we were drinking heavily before and after the shows, it was kind of crazy circus sometimes, or always (laughs)…
Jonne: I´ve tried this also a few times in early days… We were headliner, there was some band competition in Vammala, in Finland, it was ice-hall show, so big for us, we were actually recording “War Of Love” during those days, and I started to drink before this band competition has started, there were like 5 bands and we were the headliner, you know, Negative and in those days it was a big chance for us! And I don´t know why, I just started to drink…
Larri: and it was the last gig of the year, I remember, it was kind of a celebration, Tommi brought all those liquors…
Jonne: Yeah, Tommi brought alcohol and I start to drink and I didn´t even notice how fast the time was running, and suddenly just like that, somebody came up to me and said “Hey, you have to go on stage! NOW!” and I was like “WTF?!” and I sat down all that day in the dressing room and when I got up and then I realized I was too drunk to sing anything but it was, at the same time, I didn´t care, what the fuck. So we went to the stage and the first lines that I said was: “Fuck off Vammala!” or “Fuck you, Vammala!”
Larri: “Fuck you all!”
Jonne: Yeah, “Fuck you all!” and I didn´t remember the words or anything, I was just laughing on stage and Antti, he was very upset, and annoyed and he came to me and he was like (does an angry face impression, imitating his furious band colleague´s silent words “sing, you moron!”) Doing those lip moves…
Larri: And Christus was just laughing the whole time, just laughing into the microphone (does a loud evil laughter)
Jonne: And I tried to hit him with the microphone (Larri laughs) and he was showing his middle finger to us, and Larri took a hark (does a very vulgar and rude spitting gesture) in the middle of his face…
Larri: And then I went to the audience, cos you weren´t there first, so I kind of went to the rescue…
Jonne: And the mixing guy, who was working with us in those days, Peve, he was like 120 kilos or even more, and he took that punk-rocker under his elbow (does an evil demonstration of this procedure) and there were 3 police cars, and they were like: “Who is the singer of the band?” and it was light already, they were cleaning the places and I was sitting there… Police officer came to Tommi and he was asking that “Who´s the singer, who are the members of the band” and Tommi showed to that police officer who are in the band and the police officer said “It would be better if we took care of those guys” cos there´re like 5 or 6 cars with those baseball sticks, waiting…
Larri: It was a great show! (laughs)
Jonne: And in Hämeenkyrö, when Uniklubi were supporting us, it was the first time when I got drunk, there were some fans and they had some very strong stuff and I drunk that all, and I was also driving the tour bus, and the handbrake was on and I started (does a Crazy Annoying Frog´s impression), and it didn´t move, and if you´ve ever tried a motorcycle…And Christus was naked at the stage, during the encore, we were all like: “Let´s get ourselves naked, all of us!” and Christus was so wasted, I mean, we all were, I mean, you were (points at Larri)! And Christus was getting himself naked and the rest of the guys, we were waiting and he´s getting first on the stage, and he was, you know, totally naked and we were laughing! And the audience was there were young girls in the front rows, you know (does a creepy scared face expression) There was also Jussi from Uniklubi…

I also remember your Tavastia show last year, where Christus had some kind of plastic tube going up his microphone, what was this?
Larri: It´s a Talk Box, it´s actually a guitar effect. The sound is coming from the tube to your mouth and then what you´re playing comes into your mouth, and there´s your vocal microphone and you´re using the tube to create this sound.
Jonne: You know this trademark Bon Jovi sound (does a croaking sound from “Living On A Prayer”), that´s Talk Box.

So that´s what it was!? It looked so…
Jonne: pervert! I know! We should´ve put some kind of dildo on it, so he´s like taking a blowjob…
Larri: not so many guitar players use it anymore, I´ve never seen… Slash used it, Aerosmith too, but I don´t remember many… It´s a cool machine! But you can really break your teeth, because if you play very loud, the pressure gets too high and so your teeth will blow off, so many someday Christus won´t have any teeth anymore!

Christus really seems like the most extreme, crazy guy among you all…
Larri: He doesn´t have any natural protecting-yourself instinct, he´s not afraid of being hurt or dying or anything – “what the fuck?! Let´s go!”

What about the rest of the band, for example what would be the most romantic thing about Snack?
Larri: He´s always treating his women in really gentlemen…
Jonne: He´s always holding his girls, you know…
Larri: Yeah yeah, going to the restaurant and buying flowers, always going some candles and all this…
Jonne: He reminds me of Moe Szyslak from the Simpsons, you know? The guy, who´s keeping the bar, he´s wearing an old suit…
Larri: He´s doing the traditional things, you know. When we had our gig at Helldone and when HIM were playing at the last day, he was watching fireworks with his girlfriend, watching the stars…
Jonne: And he´s always going to all the sightseeings on the tour, with his girlfriend, it´s like, he´s very active in that way, when all the other guys are lying in hangover.

And how did he earn this kind of tasty nickname?
Jonne: He was Snack before, he was actually Nakki before he came, it´s the same thing. He looks like Nakki, he´s short and thin.

”Larri is totally annoying when he is drunk!”

What is the most annoying thing about you, Larri?
Larri: (laughs) Ask Jonne!
Jonne: He´s totally annoying when he´s drunk.
Larri: I agree! I have this other person coming out from my head,
Jonne: Right, when he´s been drinking many days in a row…
Larri: Hard liquors or vodka or something, when I go to sleep and somebody wakes me up, I´m a totally different person.
Jonne: It´s scary…
Larri: I am really-really cruel, I say things which I´ll regret, “fuck you all!” or “I know what I´m doing!” and stuff like that…

What is your most memorable drunk experience?
Larri: So many things…
Jonne: So many, but when I was 12… in the town where I used to live in my childhood, I was getting drunk for the first times, ever, and I passed out on a street, on a highway, a lot of traffic, big city buses are going… some girls they saved me, they took me into some parties and they were friends of my big brother, Tommi and they were like 6 years older than me, they were like 18 and I was 12 years old, and they were like: “who is this kid? We need to take care of him” and then I woke up and was surrounded by flowers, and my hair was all over with mud and they carried me inside of the house and in the next morning I woke up and I was like: “what is this fucking smell?!” and I looked on the floor and it was a lake of puke, puke lake next to me, and then I´ve heard that they were friends of Tommi and I was so afraid that he´ll find out, Tommi was like father to me, and I always scared him, you know, when smoking behind his back and stuff like that…
Larri: and I´ve this one thing in my mind, when were playing this one gig at the summer festival in Japan, it´s called Summer Sonic and there´s also this Nikki Sixx, in a new band, Brides of Destruction, and I was really-really drunk and I just went to the backstage, opened the door and went in there, and they were doing an MTV interview and suddenly all the camera, all the journalists looked at me and I was like: “Huh?! I´m Larri from Negative” and they were like “ok, hello, but you have to leave!” and I was like “ok…” and they thought I was leaving, but I went straight to their mini-bar and took their drinks, from there, then they got very pissed off, the manager threw me out and the next day there was an official complaining to our record company about my behavior…
Jonne: Our label guy was close to doing a hara-kiri!
Larri: That was kind of stupid…
Jonne: Now you can laugh…
Larri: Yeah, now, but back then it wasn´t funny.

What´s the weirdest thing about Jonne?
Larri: (takes his time to think…) ammm, errrr…. Hmmmm… to me it´s weird to understand how he manage always, how always his phone is missing. How many times have we´ve looked your phone?! You might think it´s the time to learn how to take care of your phone, but noooooo, every time the same!
Jonne: I agree! It´s all the time the same, when I´m leaving home, I´m always looking… when there´re some friends of mine, they get annoying that I´m always searching for the phone, for my phone and then it´s finally in my bag, or pocket
Larri: (laughs) I know!
Jonne: We are the same kind of persons with Snack…
Larri: They´re the slowest to leave! You´ve to say half an hour before “we´ve to go!” if you want to leave on time with Snack…
Jonne: that´s the same, that´s why I was late today.

What´s the funniest thing about Jay Slammer?
Jonne: He´s working out! It´s like, first it was “oh, it´s good to you, it´s good to you” but now he´s getting obsessive with that, he´s all the time like (does an angry obsessive muscleman´s impressions, working his biceps intensively)
Larri: And he´s talking about food, you know? Healthy food and stuff, it´s totally different than before, he was like eating everything, and now he´s always saying “Potatoes and sausages aren´t good” (laughs)…
Jonne: He´s obsessed by that, it´s funny, I mean, he used to go to Hesburger and McDonald´s and now…
Larri: but you can see the results!
Jonne: Before, when he used to have this kind of, you know, tummy, during “Sweet and Deceitful” and “War Of Love”, we were thinking to get him a refrigerator on stage, right next to him, so he can between the songs, eat some sandwich and now we´re thinking to get him some running machine…
Larri: I´m very glad for Jay, we can see he´s really in good balance, playing lots of drums, doing lots of sport, the right kind of attitude…

Shit in a plastic cup

What is the cutest thing about Mr. Anatomy?
Larri: Hmmm, it´s a difficult one…

No cute things in Antti at all?! (surprised)
Larri: (laughs) well, I don´t know if this is cute or not, but I have this kind of image in my head that he has a really strange kind of taste of… for example, making gifts to his girl or something…
Jonne: If he´s buying for some girl, when we were in Japan for example, and he bought her morning shoes, but he didn´t check the size and he bought the wrong size, but they were very cheap! They were a wrong size, but he tried… I´ve heard that already three times he bought wrong shoes for the same girl! And she was really pissed off…
Larri: Drunk Antti is also cute! When he´s really-really drunk, he looks Japanese, you know?!
Jonne: Also cute is that he´s very curious.

What about, except anatomy?
Jonne: Everything! He always wants to know all the details. I mean if you´re telling him, for example, “I bought a new car, it´s red” and he´ll be like “why is it red?”, “what kind of?...” and all this, “Four wheels?!” – “why four wheels?!” and stuff like that…
Larri: And he´s always repeating all the stories, like “ok, so you went to the car store… and then?!” – “and ok ok, so there was the selling man, ok… and then?!”
Jonne: Yeah yeah, like that! “and what then happened?” – “you paid, ok, and then?...” – “what then, what then???” and it just goes on!...
Larri: And one thing, he likes bad smell, everything that smells bad.
Jonne: Yeah, that´s weird!

French cheese!
Jonne: Shit!
Larri: It´s not that he´s liking those, but…
Jonne: …he gets something from that, you know? Really bad smell… like when his socks smell like hell, he´s like “check this out, check this out!”…
Larri: The worst smell I ever smelt was when Antti hadn´t had shower in one week, we were in our rehearsal room, and he was touching his balls with his hands and they were really sweaty and then he came to me from behind and put his hand right in front of my nose and it was so fucking bad smell! I remember it still, it comes to my mind right away, the whole day I was like “Fuck Antti, I can´t get it out of my head!”
Jonne: Back in the early days, in our old rehearsal place, we found some shit in plastic cup, behind the amplifier…
Larri: Under the keyboard
Jonne: There was shit in a plastic cup and we were sure that it was Antti, but he never admit that, but we knew it was him and he was “no, no, I won´t do anything like that!”
Larri: Of course not!
Jonne: And he was blaming Uniklubi, because they were rehearsing right next to us…
Larri: But there were no signs of breaking in, or anything, so it was pretty obvious that it was Antti.
Jonne: So obviously he has some kind of fetish on that, things that come out from the human body.

Music-Band

Your new album “Anorectic“ went straight to number 36 of the German hit list. How do you feel about that? Did you expect something like that or maybe a higher entry?

Of course, we all wished that it will be a much higher position…but… we heard  some…you know results from the record label that it is not gonna be in the Top 50 at all. So I was really surprised because there were some problems with the radio rotation things… planets of the sun…

Yeah they don’t play it that often…

Yeah…yeah...so I don’t know why…it is that F***ing…music industry…maybe there is no hook enough…you know…in this song. I think I’ll really…we are really glad that some people had found our band and bought the record…so…so it is nice…I mean…for example that kind of job you are doing is really important for you to built up the fan base…so it is really important. And we do believe that that kind of…that it is much better to reach some people by touring, than make one hit and after that nobody is interested in or does remember you. So I think that is the best way! And we have enough time to be the biggest Band in the world! It is not gonna happen in one day…you have to take small steps…

You are touring until the end of December with almost no break, what are your plans for next year? Are you going to be back on tour in January or will you first (need to) take a break? Are there any plans for touring in other countries? Are you going to be back on tour in Germany next spring?

For here…for show?  Maybe…if this tour is really successful, than we get back as soon as possible, but we don’t know that yet…we will do probably some shows…in spring or in the beginning of next year but it could also be that we are going to Italy, Spain or Greece…we think there could be new territories for a band…I cant say that…cause it is…only one week ago we got this meeting with our record label…and the management…and we was talking about if this tour will be successful…and than maybe we come back…it seems like everything is very well…and than we also want to tour in Japan…so let’s see…I don’t know! I don’t have a crystal ball in my ass…

Unfortunately…

(Laughs) Yes unfortunately…with a vibration on it…that is my kind of Humor!

I think it is quite hard to spend night and day together with at least five other guys, especially when there’s not enough space for you.

Yeah…but I’ve got my own bed and…

Yes, but everyone has got his own habits and you see the same faces day after day. What do you do when one of your band mates is getting on your nerves?

We are having that cat fights…you know like… (Making some cat fight sound!)
No it is like…you can say…we been together know for so long, I see that for many years now…and you don’t need to say anything…It’s like…your face can tell so much…and they know when you are very pissed on…but most time we have this celebration things…you know…that is why we are doing that! Having fun…that is about Negative! Also when people come to our shows we want to spread that feeling to the audience. This all wouldn’t make sense if there would be some Negative vibes in the band.

Some fans are still waiting for you or the band to get naked for a magazine. Could you imagine doing this? Has there ever been an offer like that? Have you ever been offered something like that?)

That I should show my things to the whole world?

Yes! Would you do it?

I don’t think that it is worse…to do that. But I don’t want get people disappointed…because it is not that beautiful…view…you know what I mean! No I mean a woman’s body is more beautiful than a mans body…if I was a woman I would do that, but not as a man…you know what I mean, who wants to see some dicks…or whatever! Maybe in some…with a good taste on it…not porn…not that kind of pictures…but maybe some…I don’t know…maybe I am to shy for that…think really deeply…I would say deep inside of me I am too shy for it! But lets see…maybe some other guy from the band would do this…I heard something like this…somebody would do this one day! I am doing fine with doing only that singing! If our career is going down…maybe than…than I will be a great Strip dancer for everyone… Ok…answer is no…I don’t know…never say never…maybe if somebody offers me like 5 Million euros…

How does it feel to be on tour with Jann Wilde and Rose Avenue?

Its really nice…I mean…it is like when people come to see our show…one hour and thirty minutes…we want to give the opportunity for this band to support us. They are totally different…no I mean not totally…they have some same elements…you know what I mean…but we are not that close to each other as a musician. So people won’t get frustrated when they come to our shows. It is a great band…I personally…I dig that band! I think that brings something to the music of these days from the music from the 70…it is really interesting!
Let’s see what we can figure out for the next tour…maybe I am gonna be
naked on the stage…as a supporting act…doing juggling…with balls…
35 Minutes… (laughs)…

One of your biggest idols is Curt Kobain, he killed himself. Would there be any reasons for you to commit suicide or to think about it?

I remember when I was a teenager, that kind of…not that shiny person…it was a really difficult time to me…and I think that is the main reason why I felt in love with everything that curt represented…I found my…you know interests by Nirvana. So it was a totally new world to me…and my whole world was changing…it was some place to escape. Of course…his story is really sad…he was a really talented…front man…you can’t deny that…maybe that was the price he had to pay…I don’t know…only Curt knows…and God! Rest in Peace!

God

Do you believe in supernatural things, like angels, ghosts or aliens?

I believe…I do believe…

In aliens?

Yeah…in some other live…I mean the whole universe is so large…that a human mind can’t even describe it. You can’t even take that all in your mind…We are just a little piece of…infinity…it is like…I believe that there is some live…it is possible…I mean…who proves that? If somebody prove that…there is no live…I believe till I see…it is not that I am gonna wait for the aliens…but I am a very spiritual human…there is a romantic side in me that is really spiritual. I believe in God, I do have my own god…we all do have our own prayers and believes…

Prayers?

Yeah…and prayers…we all have our own…

Do you go to church?

No…I used to go to church when I was just a little kid…at Christmas time…with my grandma…and it was really special to me…I remember! I mean I do remember a lot of great memories…I feel like I have always been blessed by something that I don’t know...if it exists…you know what I mean?

Yeah…

When you are in a really sad mood or when I feel like the world is kicking my ass or nothing doesn’t work…I feel much better when I pray…it is like…hopefully I am blessed by angels!

It’s a funny question…but did you ever meet an Angel?

When I was a little boy…it was 1989 I was 6 years old, my grandfather who was really close to me passed away…and at the same time I saw this cloud…and there was the face of my grandfather in this cloud…and I told my friend…we where together…we went to the candy store... he asked me…what the hell are you starring at…look there…there is the face of my grandfather in that cloud! And he said…where? I can’t see it! And after that I was very spiritual it was that I felt like I am blessed by probably the spirit of my grandfather or whatever…this kind of things we all do have…
And I am really thankful…because I was able to go through that all…you know…I am now 23 years old and I feel like…sometimes…I remember when I was 17 years old…my body felt like this age but from my mind I feel much older…I have gone through really difficult times…and I believe that we all have had really difficult times…that is part of the game…I had to take a lot of responsibility…when I was a child just ten years old…because there was…my situation with the relationships between my family…those are my ghosts of the past…you know what I mean…I believe know I am stronger…as a person…that kind of things grows you up…makes you think what is the meaning of live…what am I doing here ?

So let’s come to something totally different…

Yeah...ok…so…sorry it went a little bit deeper conversation…

That is ok!

Love and Sex

How much mean Sex in your life? Which role does it play?

Sex in my life…when I had my first time…when I was 15 years old…it was with a very cute girl…and she was my first love…we were dating for two years before we went to bed…and it was a very beautiful moment…in my life since that
I am a very sexual person…I mean it is part of the human nature you know…that you think about those kinds of things…I love girls, I love woman…who wouldn’t? I mean…I am not ashamed to admit that…it is Salt of life…I can’t even imagine a life without sex… In the tour bus we are talking a lot of those things with the guys…how we can get better lovers…you know we have this really weird sense of humor…and as longer as we are on tour it is gonna be weirder each day…and most people don’t understand it…for example…if we would do this interview in a few weeks or whatever, I would speak something that nobody would understand…it is a little bit scary but…
What do you think about sex? How important is that for you?

I love Sex…

Yeah…

Like all of us!

Yeah...it’s like…when you are really close to someone…you need…it is not just a physical thing…I mean to me…

Yeah…I am not that one night stand person…I want to know him better…I have to trust him…

Yeah…you need to care about each other…you need to know the person…I mean it is like…

You have to trust him!

Yeah…and there is needed to be love! Than its best!

Name one special place you would like to have sex at! Maybe in a plane?

I’m scared of  flights…but I had sex in  a toilet of a bar…in a dressing room of a swimming place…not in a swimming hall…outside…and that kind of things…in a car…but I enjoy it most when I am in a calm place…maybe with some candles…or whatever…but…there is no special place…

Have you got any unfulfilled sexual fantasy?

Yeah…yeah…with two girls for example that is one of my fantasies…
or maybe more! But you know…it’s like…and maybe share some
girls with my best friend…

Gang Bang?

No…not that kind of sex…not with my best friend… (laughs)…you know…it depend on your mood and what you are really looking for! But I don’t like that kind of one night things!

Have you ever been love sick?

Love sick? Yes!

Has a woman ever treated you cruelly?

Yes absolutely! Yes…yeah…I had this one relationship…which was a little bit violence…and a little bit…how can I say…represented all things that I don’t want to have or be involved with in a relationship…that had shown some side of me that I don’t even known…it was like…we doesn’t even fit together…but we were together like…two years or whatever…when I was around 18/19! That is where all those songs from War of love came from! I don’t know what is about that “Love is right now” That is for her!

Women

What do you like in a woman what a man doesn’t have? Is there something you are jealous about?

Breasts! If I had breasts I would do this (touches his chest!) all the time!
And this thing…you know…woman have…this…most of them have…that kind of how can I say it…caring sense…mother instinct!

What would you do if you could be a woman for one day?

What question…guess…have sex! What else?

All the time?

Yeah…know how that feels…you know…have some Oralsex…
all kind of sex… And hey…wear those very high heels…and short skirts…
and strings…and all those nice things…

But you can wear strings!

Yeah…but there are not so cool…I mean…they are not that cool…hot woman underwear…maybe that is one of my secrets…actually I am doing that every Sunday when I have free time…I am wearing my hot girl underwear the whole day…no I am just kidding!

Ok…we don’t have more time…thank you very much!

About You

If your life were made a movie, who should play your role?

J: I would say…Tom Hanks! My life is like “Forest Gump”, do you know the movie?
B: Yes I know the movie!
J: So, in that way! But with my story it would be Scarlett Johansson.
C: Your role?...Ok!
J: Yeah! No, just kidding! Probably Jared Leto! He is a good actor!
C: Yeah, I think that would fit!

If you had the choice to create your own perfect Valentines day…
how would it look like?

J: I wouldn’t change the Valentines day because I like it like it is!
C: So what would you do? Like romantic things?
J: Ahh…romantic things! Romantic definitely…yeah…romantic and a little bit naughty!
Lots of presents…
There need to be this kind of…you know…rules that you have to keep…something like…less than three presents/persons and stuff like that! I don’t know!
A lot of presents and romantic things!
B: Rain of roses?
J: Yeah, something like that…with myself! (laughing)

Does money play an important role in your life? Would you like to be a millionaire?

J: It is like a cup of coffee to me…I can’t say cup of coffee because I don’t drink coffee anymore…but it is like tea! Money is like tea…you need that to make something with yourself! I am not that kind of person who is making a competition between the neighbors who is having biggest car or the best house or whatever…just necessary object!
B: So you don’t have to be a millionaire?
J: No it is not my goal! Money is nice because that if you are having money, you are able to do things you have always been dreaming of!
B: You have less sorrow when you have money…
J: That depends!
C: You can be happy without money!
J: I have been always very broke! I didn’t have money when I was a teenager! I used to work a lot for money; I was cutting grass in the summer…so now in these days I get a little bit better pay than in teenager times! So I am able to go out for dinner with my friends and stuff like that…you know…that is positive! And I like to watch a lot of movies…so I can go to cinema whenever I want!

Do you have any wishes for the New Year? Some things that you would like to do or achieve?
Or maybe some things in your life that you would like to change?

J: I would like to be…I wish that this year…you mean this year?
B: Yeah, this year!
J: Ok this year. I will be more stable with myself and I would like to find a balance between Negative and my…
B: Private life?
J: Yes private life! It is like…I am trying to be a better person, to my friends and to everybody. And especially to myself! Because it is like “Reflections”, you know! The most important thing is to stay honest to yourself and that is how you will be a better friend to yourself and for example to your friends. And I wish a lot of success also…for the band…Health and everything…
B: Ok…next one?
J: You are already bored!?
B: No, not really!
C: As long as you are not bored everything is alright!
J: No, I am not!

Personal/Sex

Is there a special song you would like to listen to while having sex?

J: Yes! Rebel Yell…by Scooter! (Laughs)
B: (Laughing very much)
J: You know the version of scooter?!

Is there a special song that reminds you of a beautiful moment?

J: There are many of them! For example…Scooters “Rebel yell”
B: (laughing) Ok…then we know that moment too!

What is your favorite sex position?

J: I like Doggy style…but I have to say that I also like that when the girl is…you know…
B: Sitting?
J: Sitting on me…cause I am a bit lazy…if I am tiered I like that…it depends…sometimes I like to…
C: Be dominant?
J: See her eyes…you know…just take connection…eye contact…it depends…sometimes rougher is better…but I am more like romantic!

Did you ever try any sex toys?

J: Yes I have! But it is like I been there not with myself, but with a girl!

What do you think about having Sex in a church…maybe on the altar with lots of candles around? How does the imagination feel for you, do you think that this would be blasphemic or more a romantic moment…maybe like…sacrifice of love?

B: Oh no…it is the question with the church!
J: I can say right away that I think it would be too pervert…I know that it is a room of god…and you know that it might feel too weird for me if I know that I am surrounded by…you know…
C: Yeah, but god says men and woman should have sex…that is natural!
J: Yeah, it is natural but I would never try that to me it is a too personal place for that…anywhere else than altar!
Where do these questions come from? Are these yours?
C: Yes!
B: No, but not all!
J: You are pervert people!
C: (To B:) You are not, we are!
J: Weird people!
B: Really?
J: No, in a good way…goofy people…of course it is not too serious to me…but it is like…it is not one of the things I am thinking of when I am having sex with myself…”Ohhh in a church…”
(laughing)
C: Not really!
B:
(laughing) Than maybe not on the altar…
in this small cabin where you tell the preacher all the bad things you have done…

J: Ahhh ok…there it might work…
B: (laughing)
J: Because I am so small…it is too personal thing to me like having sex in front of you mother! Having sex in a church…whatever…
B: Like somebody is watching me!
J: Some kind of excitement you know…having sex in a public place, it is like…I had sex in a toilet of a bar…

Could you imagine having sex on stage during the show…
maybe behind a paper wall?

J: You mean behind a flag? Why not…but I don’t see it is necessary because I like the show as itself so much that…of course maybe in a backstage…behind a flag…yeah…behind a paper wall…but not on stage…if you are waiting maybe with some band members!

Family/Future/Relationships

Do you believe in love at first sight? And did it ever happen to you?

J: Yes, in my case it is like…ahh…what I have gone through with myself, I need to say that I believe in love at first sight…it is like…but I believe also in love with a person who you have known for a long time.
Friendship can turn into a love…whatever…
B: Yes that could happen!
J: Yes I do believe…I have some friends who have been together since they were teenagers… I do believe…I need to believe!

What are the three most important things for you which make
a relationship / friendship work?

J: Trust, Honesty…(thinking) and caring!

Is there any characteristic that you really hate about women?

J: Maybe too proud woman makes me…or too…if somebody thinking that she is so cool…
C: Arrogant?
J: Yeah…arrogant…a little bit rude…somebody’s thinking that she is….
B: Much higher than anyone else?
J: Maybe these kinds of people making me take a few steps back!
I like woman…and drunken woman…who are like…I don’t like that!

When you think about the future, would you like to have children?
And if yes, how many children would you like to have and which names
would you like the most for your children?

J: Ahhh…I need to say now that I…at the moment I…Neagtive takes the most time of my life and I am in that way really selfish to my self cause I am sacrificing lot of time for the band…but since I have been a little boy I've been dreaming about having a family one day and being a good father…so yes…somewhere in the future hopefully I am able to be that kind of person! Because to me…I am 23 years old and it still really difficult to take care of myself!
C: I know what you mean!
J: I need to learn to take care of myself and after that I am ready to think about having a family and probably this!
C: But what names would you choose than?
J: Which names? A girl would be nice “Rosa” something like that…for a boy…it would be definitely some international name…not anything finnish like…
(telling lots of finnish names)
C: Ville?
B: Oh No!!!
J: No Ville!!! I Have already a little brother…
C: One in the family is enough!
J: I don’t want anymore Villes! One is enough! Probably something like Johannes…I don’t know…George…Ron…Ron…Ron Moss…you know him?
I don’t know….something beautiful…
B: I mean you have to see the baby before you can choose a name!
J: Most important thing is the view!

Did you ever change diapers?

J: I used to work in a kindergarten and there were from 3-5 and 5-7year old children and I was working with the 5-7, so I wasn’t able to change any diapers!
B: I think in Germany children have to be able to go to toilet
before they are allowed to go to the Kindergarten!
C: You have to be 3 years old to go there!
J: Ok…but there are also younger children…
C: How is this called…Krippe? Before Kindergarten…
don’t know how that is called in English…
J: Maybe it is hospital...(laughing)…where they do the birth…
where they came out of the mother…no just kidding…
Diapers…maybe when I am having children…
I think it feels so far away as I told you already…

What do you think about abortion?

J: Ahhh…I believe that everybody is her own masters so they can make their own decisions about these kind of things…in my case I wouldn’t do that!
B: You can’t do that!
J: Yeah…but if I am having for example…I don’t know…it depends…if I am with somebody in love and having a deep relationship…I could not imagine to have abortion…but I don’t know…to me it is so natural thing but maybe after a one-night-relationship…you know…having sex with somebody and have a child!

What do you think about transsexual people?

J: I think they are cool…fine…just like anybody else…it is like it doesn’t bother me if somebody is different…no matter… color skin…religion…nation or anything…
B: If we all would be the same it would be boring…
J: Yeah…that makes the world so colorful!

Thank you for this Interview and for spending your time with us!

We thank Silke and Jonne so much
for giving us the chance to do this interview!

Finally an excerpt from Toxica's worldly wisdoms: ;)

"Now, aren't these good closing words?
So, on this note... stay  yourselves and don't let others tell you what you should be like!
The most important thing is that you're happy... no matter how...
your friends will accept you the way you are without demanding that you change!
If there are people who have a problem with you or the way
you behave they should maybe just withdraw from your life!
Because if they are true friends there's nothing they desire more
than seeing you happy, you should always remember that!
Take the liberty to be yourselves and to fulfill yourselves the way you consider right, whatever that may mean! Go your own way and believe in yourselves

P=Peggy, D=Danni, J=Jonne

P: Hi, I’m Peggy, this is Danni *points at Danni*

J: I’m Jonne *waves and laughs*

D: I’m searching for my questions.

P: How are you? It’s too hot....

J: Yeah, it’s a little bit like in the rain forest, it has that atmosphere as well.

P: How many interviews have you had by now?

 J: Today? P: Today.

J: It’s the second one.

P: How does it feel being back in Germany?

J: It’s fucking great. P: Great? J: Yeah, I mean playing live at festivals..it’s like that time there’re only a few festivals in Finland. And it’s so different in Finland if you compare these festivals over here and there.. it’s like.. how can I say.. it’s nice to be here again *smiles* P: Welcome! :)

P: What are you usually doing first when you arrive in a new town?

J: *thinks * Mmmmh, writing in myself into a hotel. *smiles*

 P: *laughs* That’s great.

J: That’s it… And… I don’t know, I don’t have usually time to.. for example watch to see any sightseeings or..

P: Sightseeings? Have you seen the cathedral?

J: No, not yet, because last time I was in a hangover, when some of our friends went to the tower… this one big church *shows with his arms how big it is ;)* And they went to see that one… I think *looks at the other NGT guys* our whole band is pretty lazy about that… sightseeing-thing *smiles* It’s like we’re only for playing over here, so… and having fun!

P: Yes… J

: So, we don’t need…

P: We’re here, you must have fun. :P

D: Next question. Soon you’ll release the first single of your upcoming album. Maybe you can tell us a bit about the background of ‘Planet Of The Sun’ and why did you choose this one to be the first single.

J: Mhhh… pff… To be honest, we picked this song … *stares at the ceiling* it was because this is the softest song from the album. I mean, it’s most radio-friendly, you know..

D: Mainstream?!

J: Yeah, and it’s hard to reach those radio rotations.. over here.. it seems like that. So, that’s why we picked it and it is also that you can hear the familiar sound of our band from that single. So if we would pick for example ‘One Last Shot’, ‘We Can’t Go On’ or ‘Glory Of The Shame’ it would be probably too heavy for the radios and for MTV and VIVA. So we’re.. ok.. we are musical prostitutes *smiles* We’re whores! *laughs* We have to do it..

D: How much do we have to pay?

 D, J, P: *laugh*

J: No, it’s also… it’s really .. I think it’s really beautiful mid tempo rocksong.

D: Ok, and the album.. the title… can you tell us about why it is called ANORECTIC?

P: Please! J: Ehm, I would say. You know, we’ve gone through really happy and also difficult times during these latest 4 .. 5 years. So, that’s the other side of the coin. I would say… You know it’s … *keeps his mouth open while thinking* I mean if you’re listening to the whole album, you will hear that the sound is bigger than ever.. we’ve done before and so ANORECTIC represents the other side. *smiles*

D: Ok, you’ve got new promotionpics and as we can see you changed your style does that also mean a change in music or is it just promopics?

J: No, no…it is just.. you know.. I just decided to cut them off *shows how bis his hair was* I mean, if you mean my hair for example.. I had the dreads.

D: Yeah… J: And they were too heavy. And I got frustrated because.. it was so.. we were touring last time and it was so fucking devastating to wash them. You can’t wash them with shampoo for example or stuff like that, so..

D: Too much work…

J: Yeah, it was getting too difficult. So, I cut them off myself.

D: Have you kept them as a souvenir or something like that…

J: Yeah… P: Yeah? J: Maybe I can sell them one day.. *laughs*

P: Ebay! J: *laughs* Yeah, on Ebay P: We buy it…*laughs*

J: Who’s gonna offer most *laughs* D: Ok, but for charity or.. J

: No, maybe… no one would want them because it’s …

D: You don’t know what your fans would buy.

J: It smells like shit. They look even terrible!

D: But it’s fun what they buy at Ebay. I mean, somebody bought a bag touched by you.

P: Yes and towels.

J: Yeah yeah, maybe you can use that as a whip. *moves his arm like he’s whipping someone* ...But it’s something.. in in.. at the moment.. I mean, in these days, we don’t plan anymore so much our image. It’s like: We are what we are!

 P: aww…

J: It comes naturally. Back in the early days, we were thinking much more… Are we gonna wear now make up or that kind of stuff or am I gonna wear pink or black.. or… D: Many fans were confused that you won’t wear pink anymore…

J

: Of course you wanna look good, but, you know, you just wear that feels comfortable.

D: So, you’ve been very long in the studio. What is the studiowork for you like and is it hard for others to work with you?

J: To me it’s easy, because, you know, my part of the whole recording session .. we can it do in the end. So, first we’re gonna record drums and bass and after that we’re gonna do guitars and keyboards. And usually together with all of them. And I’m gonna be the latest one. So, to me it’s like, you know, chilling out at the studio *looks at the other NGT guys and smiles* .. No it’s… pretty hectic but it’s nice. But this session was the hardest ever. To me as personally, because it was like, it seemed that we realised that there was this.. *thinks* it’s hard to describe, it was like a magical atmosphere in the studio when we realise

D: Oh fuck, we have really strong songs. This time.. you know. It was, we knew that.. we realised that we were doing something really different than ever before.. you know.

D: It’s more hard rock ‘n roll…

J: Yeah yeah and it was like.. we had this whole theme before we went to the studio. When we were playing for the first time these songs, we were like.. you know, these… when you see some nice boy or girl for the first time for example, or some nice person. And you wanna f… *laughs* and you wanna do some nice things with him or her *giggles*, you know… the same kind of feelings…

P: We know, we know, we know! J: You know...

D: So You’re excited.

J: Yeah, really excited and all these *rubbing his belly* *asks the other NGT guys for an English word* *Antti answers* .. roaches on your tummy *smiles* and butterflies! *says something in finnish to the other NGT guys*

J: But now I feel really self comfortable with this album…

D: Satisfied.. J: Yes, satisfied. Right after the sessions, because we’re really grown as a band and as persons. I mean, .. hopefully *smiles* I mean, we’re the same monkeys than before, but… yeah.

P: Does anyone of you or the whole band together have some sort of talisman that you always carry around or a certain ritual before the shows?

J: I have my asthma medication. It’s one of those things I can’t live without. But it’s… I can’t say about the other guys *looks at them* because… *asks them something in finnish* I mean, Snack *points at him* Yeah, he’s always wearing those sunglasses.. Antti: On tour!

J: On tour, no, in his freetime also because he is so wasted *everybody laughs* Snack: I’ve been all of my life… *Jonne asks Christus something in finnish* Christus: Cigarettes! J

: Cigarettes…

J: We have also in our backstage rider, there’s this *looks at Christus* vanilla cirgarettes for him *points at Christus* I don’t know, have you noticed that he’s smoking them on the stage?

D: He’s smoking all the time on stage..

P: Yes..

J: Yeah yeah, but these vanilla cigarettes.*Christus says something in finnish and shows his cigs*

J

: And it has to be… yeah…

J: What about Antti? *looks at him* Antti: Nothing…

J: Nothing! Antti: Even first time we went to Japan, the only thing I had with me was a old plastic bag.. So *smiles* D: Okay great *laughs* Christus: And make up is very important

J: What I have to carry also, is my asthma medication, ok… that’s one of those really important things.

P: Ok, do you have any nicknames inside the band and what do you think about nicknames given to you by fans. There are names like Jonni-Wonni, Jonni-Hasi…

J: *looks suspicious* Jonni-Wonni, oh f***, what does it mean? *laughs* *shakes his head*

D: It’s supposed to sound cute or something like that…

 J: Really?

J: These guys from our crew, they call me Levylaulada

 P: What?

J: *says the finnish word again* I mean, it’s like record singer ( .. it’s like ‘fucking with me’ *Christus tries to say something but doesn’t remember the English words* J: It’s about.. I don’t know, it’s not a compliment.. always, it’s a little bit like ‘fucking with me’ *smiles* P: But Jonni-Wonni… J: Yeah, I don’t know…

D: I mean, they call Christus Barbie! *Christus looks suspicious*

P: Yes, Barbie! D: Because of your underwear. Christus: Ah *grins*

J: That’s much better (than barbie) *laughs* .. Jonni-Donni

P: *laughs* What? D & P: Wonni! J: Bonny *looks shocked* ..wtf... D & P: Wonni… Bonny.. *everybody laughs*

J: do I look like a horse *tries to imitate a horse face*

D: Do you send postcards to your family or your friends when you’re on tour?

J: I used to, when we were on our first tours in Japan and also from here. When we were the first time doing some promotion here… with Larry… I sent a postcard to my mum. But not anymore, you’re getting lazier and lazier about that kind of things when you’re touring more and more. It’s like.. you just concentrate of… do not miss any stuff. For example, today I lost my cellphone.

 P: Oh no…

J: It’s somewhere in the plane or.. I don’t know and there’s so many new ideas for the next album and it has everything I own and you know, it’s really personal. It’s like a diary to me, so I lost that one *looks desperate* So, I’m getting more and more careful about that kind of things, that I’m concentrating to do best show ever, you know, and never before.

D: Ok, does anyone of you have bad habits that annoys everybody when you’re on tour?

J: I’m spreading all my stuff all around and I think the guys are pretty upset about that. And we all do have our that kind of bad habits. And maybe it’s something you get toxicated with or maybe it’s that kind of you spreading.. *points at the floor*

P: *points at the suitcase she has her feet on* Is it yours?

J: No, this it not mine. It is.. mine is over there *points at it* It’s not yet all over. It’s like atom-bomb. But I’m… you know, it’s something, I like to live like that and I’m getting better with order.

D: Ok, we pray for you *laughs*

D: What’s your favourite piece of clothing and another user, from our forum, wanted to know, what kind of perfume you are using.

J: Perfume?

P: Yes.

J: *smiles* It’s like .. *laughs* *points at Nakki/Antti/Christus??* did you see? The way he looked at me.. *laughs* It was... I love Hugo Boss Vanilla.

D: Vanilla?

J: Yes, you know vanilla? It’s a little bit feminine.. *thinks*

P: It’s for women?

J: No, it’s for men, but it’s not so.. it’s not so masculine..

 P: Yes.

J: So, Hercules kinda… *smiles* You know *does smellsounds with his nose* smell…

P: Yes, ok....

J: So, it’s.. I love it because it’s a little bit like candy.

 P: Aaah.

J: Vanilla.

D: Ok, is there a certain point when you start feeling harassed by your fans?

J: Mhhh *thinks* what was the… can you repeat the question?

D: Yeah, I mean, if fans become too.. if they want to come to your private life and you say to that point and no step closer and you start feeling pissed off..

J: No, I mean, I do have my really.. I mean, these guys are *points at the other NGT guys* really really close to me and we’re like six wolves when we’re on tour and whatever. But we all do have our close friends when we’re not.. you know.. outside of the band.

D: But if somebody comes into this…

J: Ah, some new people!? I mean, it depends your mood, it depends your day. Sometimes… usually I like to discuss and talk with the people. I’m really social, when I’m in a good mood. You know, but we all have our rainy days, also. And I, I can be total asshole and probably it’s gonna be a situation like when somebody’s coming to me and.. if I’m hanging in a bar or whatever. And I just want to be alone or if I’m talking with some of my friends and somebody is coming and interrupt me, you know, then it’s like… I probably would say something like: Take off or whatever, you know. Sometimes! …we all do have rainy days.

 P: Yeah..

J: But it’s… I usually like it, because you have to take all of this whole thing. For example this interview, it’s nice to talk with you. *smiles*

P: Yes?! Oh, thank you. :)

J. But when you wanna take off, I just stay at home. *laughs* And watch a lot of shitty movies and drink underwear.. with my underwears. Only wearing my underwear and getting wasted. *says something in finnish to the other NGT guys* Underwearwasted. *laughs* D: So, Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest and you have had your first experience as a moderator. Could you imagine moderating, for example, the Grad Prix in Helsinki next year? Or even take part with Negative?

J: No! I wouldn’t… I can’t see that it would be our way to grow our fanbase. I mean, we’ve been always like a really strong liveband, we really enjoy to do liveshows, so that’s the best way. I can’t see.. no.. if we’re gonna.. it’s not our format.

D: It’s just too snobby?!

J: Yeah, it is too.. it doesn’t represent Rock ‘N Roll at all. To me… I mean, it’s like a EuroDisco Contest.

P: Then, any last message to your fans?

J: Ähhh *thinks* Beware and be patient..

D: Buy the new single.. for example.

J: Yeah, and vote our new upcoming single ‘Planet Of The Sun’ for every fucking radiostation and every TV shows over here. And we’re gonna shoot this video, a day after tomorrow, in.. *asks the other NGT guys* in München (Munich)

P: München? (Munich)

J: In München, yeah, we’re gonna... it’s some old circus and we’re gonna do this video for ‘Planet Of The Sun’. So, hopefully it’s gonna be soon on air, also over here. So, vote as hell!!! *smiles* Firstly, we want to thank Dani for giving us the opportunity to do this interview. And for building this website that has become our second home. Especially when it comes to the interview, we have to say thanks to Sylvie from Roadrunner Records for answering our questions and organising the whole interview. We made this interview, as everyone can see, with Jonne. So thanks to Jonne who was really very polite, friendly and pretty funny! After the interview we have had one little nice helper, Susi, so thanks to her for writing it down.

тока он старое..где-то 2004-2005 год.....вроде...)))))
M - Maiju, R - Ricarda, A - Antti, J - Jay, N - Nakki
M: "War Of Love"
A: Йонне нежный...
A: Кто-то...
A: Жир. Просто жир.
N: А silli - это рыба.
A: Да, целую неделю... семь дней... и больше ничего.
R: Это жестоко!
A: Да. Просто за то, что мне не понравилось то, что приготовила мама.
R: Джей, ты всегда был таким милым?
J: Не знаю... хмммм...
R: Что вы делаете на первом свидании?
A: С девушкой?
A: Буду продолжать.
R: Вы чувствуете себя рок-звездой?
N: Да, давая интервью на английском.
R: Как бы вас назвали, если бы вы были девочками?
N: Не знаю
J: Не знаю
A: Может быть, Anni? Но я могу только предположить.
R: Какой самый лучший диск у тебя есть?
N: Hellacopters "By The Grace Of God"
R: Ты видел их выступление на Ruisrock'е?
N: Да, мы выступали в тот же день.
R: Я знаю
A: Сейчас это финская металлическая группа Sentenced, их альбом "The Cold White Light".
M + R: Да, это хороший альбом...
J: Альбом Nirvana "Bleach", но очень сложно выбрать.
Их очень много... сложно выбрать всего один.
M: Это правда.
R: Какой самый "стеснительный" из дисков ваших коллекций?
A: Думаю, Dr. Bombay "Rice And Curry" *все смеются*
A: Нет...
A: Самый смешной?
R: Да, или тот, который вывел вас из себя...
A: Huhu? Слухи? (huhu - слух по-фински) Не знаю... Не слышал никаких сплетней...
N: И это плохо.
R: Нет, это хорошо. Может Maiju что-нибудь скажет?
A: Да, скажи...
A: Да...
R: Ты спал или гулял? Есть разница...
M: Да, ты наверное пошел гулятьподмигивание
A: *смеется* Ну... я не знаю, правда ли это, потому что я этого не видел.
