Крейг Дэвид прилетел в Москву на три дня на личном самолете. Райдера у певца не было. Единственное требование заключалось в том, чтобы во всех ресторанах, которые они посетят, были блюда с курицей — салат из курицы, курица-гриль, макчикен.
Не успев поселиться в Ritz-Carlton, Крейг сразу же отправился на студию, где и произошла их долгожданная встреча со Славой. Планировали, что в первый день они просто познакомятся и обсудят песню. Но работа пошла быстрее, чем ожидалось. Они записали песню в тот же день — были в студии до трех часов утра.
«Он оказался очень простым человеком, без всяких там понтов. Как будто он не суперизвестный певец, а просто мой друг с Рязанского проспекта, — делится впечатлениями Слава. — У меня были сложности на записи, потому что я не пою R'n'B, эти все отпевания нот — не моя тема. Я люблю петь прямым голосом, а когда он, как река, это, конечно, сложновато».
В итоге Крейг Дэвид стал не только автором песни, но и ее продюсером. Он пропевал Славе каждый куплет, не отходил от нее во время записи. После того как работа была закончена, все поехали ужинать и веселиться. Сводить окончательную запись Крейг будет у себя на студии в Англии.
«Мы по полной программе оторвались, и он сказал, что, конечно, Эми Уайнхаус отдыхает», — рассказывает Слава. Крейг научился пить водку по-русски — выпивая стопку, занюхивать черным хлебом, но не закусывать. Но больше всего его впечатлила черная икра. Управляющий Ritz-Carlton в качестве подарка преподнес певцу блины с черной икрой и матрешку. Крейгу так понравился деликатес, что он захотел привезти его маме в подарок. Это единственная вещь, которую он хотел взять с собой. Оказалось, что даже Слава не может сравниться с черной икрой.
«Называется песня «It's never to late». Никогда не поздно что-то вернуть, сказать или попросить прощения. Про любовь», — описывала Слава свой первый дуэт. Клип на песню собираются снимать в Лос-Анджелесе, хотя изначально планировалось в Лондоне. «Съемки клипа в Лондоне меня не устраивают. У меня было два опыта работы с англичанами, меня не устраивает вообще. Поэтому либо Москва, либо Америка», — довольно категорично рассуждала Слава.
Так или иначе, удачное начало европейской карьеры уже есть. Некоторые СМИ писали о том, что дуэт будет успешным еще и потому, что Крейг подарил Славе браслет, который, как говорили, раньше принадлежал Стингу. Как оказалось, все наоборот. «Это был мой браслет. Он мне говорит: «У тебя классный браслет, он тебе очень подходит». Это Yamamoto. Ну, я ему и предложила взять его себе. «Это тебе на счастье». И подарила», — развеяла слухи Слава.

Craig David родился 5 мая 1981 года в Саутгемптоне (Великобритания). Музыкой он увлёкся ещё в раннем возрасте. Его отец тоже любил музыку и играл в группе «Eboney Rockers». Он-то и научил сына играть на гитаре. В подростковом возрасте David уже писал песни. А в 14 лет устроился работать Dj на пиратскую радиостанцию, специализирующуюся на музыкальном стиле UK Garage.

Периодически он играл в местных клубах. Свои произведения он создавал в стиле RnB или рэгги, пока не познакомился с музыкантом Mark Hill, членом электронной группы . У Mark была написана мелодия песни, и David написал для нее слова. Гаражный sound плюс мягкий RnB голос певца возымели неожиданный успех. Сингл был выпущен на маленьком независимом лейбле, но настолько хорошо расходился в клубах, что был переиздан на мейджоре.

Песня «The Artful Dodger» стала №2 на чартах Великобритании в 2000 , именно тогда его и заметили. А вот первая же вещь «Fill Me In» с дебютного альбома «Born To Do It» сразу стала занимать первые места в Великобритании. Следующий сингл «7 Days» опять возглавил чарты, в США он вошёл в первую 10. А песня «Walking Away» с этого же альбома вошла в 5 лучших в Великобритании и Австралии. На Brit Award Craig David выдвигался по 6 номинациям, но почему-то не получил ни одной. Зато на на фестивале «черной» музыки Mobo (Music of Black Origin) ему досталось целых 3 награды: как лучшему новому исполнителю, лучшему исполнителю в стиле RnB и за лучшую песню «Fill Me In». Кроме того, престижнейшая награда Британской академии композиторов Ivor Novello awards досталась ему по трем категориям: лучшая современная песня («7 Days»), лучший автор песен года (в соавторстве с Mark Hill) и за лучший танцевальный сингл («Woman Trouble»).

С молодым певцом сразу захотели сотрудничать знаменитости. Например, Elton John заявил, что считает его надеждой британской поп-музыки. Возможно, правда, что причиной этому кроме несомненного таланта певца явилась и его привлекательная внешность. Живой классик Стиви Уандер тоже изъявил желание записать что-нибудь совместно с ним. Причем, он, по его словам, готов начать работу в любое удобное юной звезде время. А сам David, оказывается, мечтал записать что-нибудь совместно с Jennifer Lopez. О его личной жизни пока ничего не известно. Правда ходили слухи, что он встречался одно время с бывшей подружкой Ника Картера из Backstreet Boys Уиллой Форд. Но никто это точно не подтверждал.

У Craig David дома огромная коллекция дисков, которой он гордится. Журналисты постоянно спрашивают его, каково ему подаваться из независимой музыки в попсу. Но он с достоинством отвечает, что ему нравится заниматься поп-музыкой, и ему надоело, что все вокруг сразу начинают говорить, что музыкант продался, если его песни имеют успех. David по-прежнему любит стиль UK Garage и считает, что для Великобритании эта музыка то же, что и RnB для США.

Последующий альбом «Slicker Than Your Average» был выпущен в 2002, но его успех был хуже первой пластинки. Ни одна из шести синглов не попала в чарты США, хотя в принципе они вошли в 10 лучших в Великобритании. Но самый большой удар карьера молодого певца перенесли, когда его лэйбл «Telstar Records» обанкротился. После этого David подписал контракт с «Warner Music» и в августе 2005 выпустил свой третий альбом под названием «The Story Goes…» Первый сингл с нового альбома «All The Way» вернул его в тройку лучших, а следующая песня «Don't Love You No More (I'm Sorry)» продержалась 15 недель в UK top 75.
