Hotseat: Alex Pettyfer |

And we asked you to send in your questions for Alex, and we put the best ones to him when he came into the Newsround studios this week.
Have you ever had another job besides acting such as a paper round?
I have done a paper round which lasted about two days. I got to a scary, abandoned house, went down a side alley to get there and put the paper in. I think it must have been an old man in his dressing gown who snatched it and that was me done!
Sophie, Pinner
What was your favourite scene from Stormbreaker and why?
I liked the fight scene obviously because you train so hard for it and when you get to do it, it's a release of tension.
Abigail, Surrey
Now you're a superstar film icon, how are you going to cope with walking down the carpet with loads of girls smiling at you?
It was a real surprise. I didn't really expect it when I got out the car.
Jess, Crickhaw
How did you feel when you found out you had the part of Alex Rider - were you really surprised?
Yes - when you go through such a long process of auditioning you kind of forget about getting it. It's more like you keep going up and having a little bit of fun. So finally when I got to play Alex I was like 'OK, cool'. I went for months and months of auditions.
Malcolm, Enfield
Did you read any of the books in the Alex Rider series to help you with the part?
I read Stormbreaker as soon as I heard I was going up for the part. But I wish to carry on reading all of them.
Maddy, Morecombe and Katie, Orpington
If you could work with any actor or actress in the whole world, who would you pick and why?
Tom Cruise or Robert Downey Jnr. I don't know why, I just really like them.
Liz, Swanly
What age were you when you started acting?
About 14. It just landed in my lap.
Laura, Feltham
Will you be playing Alex Rider in future films?
It depends how this one [film] does. Plus, I'm a tiny bit too old to play Alex now - I am 16 now and he's 14.
Jordan, Sunderland
What was it like working with top actors like Ewan Macgregor, Robbie Coltrane, Bill Nighy and Alicia Silverstone?
Great - I can't say much more than that. I loved working with Bill - he's a great comedian. I loved working with people who aren't on that list, like Jimmy Carr. Having days out with him was so much fun - you don't really get much done, it's more like having a laugh.
Isabel, Winchester
What was it like doing stunts or did you have a stuntman who did them all for you?
I didn't have a stuntman doing them all for me. I did quite a few, it was really fun, it was a new experience everyday. I did three or four weeks training in martial arts and jujitsu and I had to work on my body as well.
Hannah, Cheltenham
Which did you prefer making - Tom Brown's School Days or Stormbreaker?
They were both fun. I think probably Stormbreaker pipped it a tiny bit because it was a lot more effort and I got quite a bit more reward. You get to see what your fans really think about you and how the film's going to do - at the premiere.
Leanne, Chelmsford
What other types of films would you like to do in the future?
Any. If the script's right, any. I like action, though.
Anna, Worcester
What was your first day on the set like?
Daunting. But I was on my own for a couple of weeks so I didn't really see any famous people and it was all cameras.
Annie, USA
In Tom Brown's Schooldays you played quite a naughty school boy - were you that bad at school?
Yeah, yeah.
Tia, Colchester
Are there any similarities from you and your character Alex in Stormbreaker?
Yeah - our name, for one! Plus a lot of other stuff. Alex is a really great guy with many other qualities - just like me! [He jokes]
Leah, Stockport
What was your favourite gadget in the film?
Probably the pen. I'd really like to control someone for six hours.
What was the most challenging scene?
Working with Mickey [Rourke] was quite a challenge. He was in character all the time and really brings out the best in you as an actor.
If you were offered the job as a real spy would you take it?
Probably not - because I know what you go through [as a spy]. But I'd love the action if every spy did that [what Alex Rider did].
Christina, Norwich
If you were a fruit what type of fruit would you be and why?
Banana. I don't know, it's probably because bananas give you energy and I'm an energetic person. Emma, Digswell |
