Jennifer Lopez has one, Madonna teamed up with H&M and Gwen Stefani runs her own avant-garde label L.A.M.B Now, with the advent of all these stars creating their own lines of fashion, Sarah Jessica Parker is also confirmed to launch her own clothing line in June.
The Sex and the City star has teamed up with mall-based collegiate wear seller Steve & Barry’s to sell her line “Bitten,” which goes on sale June 7 in the US. The line will be comprised of high-quality, inexpensive and accessible wear for “real” women. The philosophy behind the clothing is that women should wear clothes they feel proud of, not ashamed of because of the high price they pay for them.
“Women should be able to wear great clothes and not lie in bed at night feeling guilty about how much money they’ve spent,” Parker said in a statement through the company.
Steve & Barry’s manages nearly 200 stores in 33 states and plans to open 100 more in 2007. Most of their stores are located in malls or near universities to target college-aged adults, and becoming one of America’s fastest growing national mall-based stores with the concept of offering merchandise for less than $20. Teaming up with Sarah Jessica Parker will be Steve & Barry’s first celebrity paring.
The tagline of Sarah Jessica Parker’s new line is: Fashion is Not a Luxury, It’s a Right. The line will consist of about 500 clothing items and accessories, including knit shirts, wool and cashmere sweaters, dresses, lingerie, jeans, jewellery and footwear. All items are promised to be affordable and priced less than $20.
